I've read a lot of the reviews for this business, and I'm sorry some customers have had a less than stellar time. I have to say though, I had the BEST experience the other day. I went in knowing generally what I wanted but also wanted some assistance - and Jessica was awesome! I was greeted immediately and I felt really comfortable. It's been awhile since I've been in a tack shop and it felt just like home to me. Jessica and the other woman in the store ( I did not get her name) were VERY helpful. I didn't feel pressured to buy and I definitely wasn't ignored. Thanks Jessica for the great customer service and I love all the gear I bought. Terrible customer service. Walked in 5 minutes after they closed. Four employees standing around. I asked to buy some fly spray as I was heading directly to stables. Staff rudely refused. I mentioned that I spend thousands of dollars in the store including a $4,000 saddle they recommended but was the wrong size. Rude employees; poor knowledge of products; overpriced. I suggest ordering online from Amazon or going to Callahan's store. read more

The store itself has an excellent selection. We were greeted upon arrival by a very nice and helpful sales associate. My friend was returning a fairly expensive personalized collar, and while the associate made every effort to be helpful, her manager was super rude to us, condescending to her employee, and made the entire experience miserable. There had been a strange discrepancy in collar size, as the one size was too small and the next too big. Because the manager was unaccommodating, my friend chose to return rather than exchange, and at first she was offered to at least take her personalized plate, which was later rescinded. My two stars is simply for the sales associate that desperately tried to make a good experience. read more

Every time I come in this store, the service is less than stellar. Today I stood in front of the helmets for 10 minutes waiting to try one one...three employees walked by me...no one said a word...NO ONE...when I complained all I got was an I'm sorry, and no one rectified the situation. You'd think someone would want to help out someone looking to make a large purchase like that...this is why time and time again, even though less convenient, SmartPak or Tractor Supply gets my business. read more

If I could give this store a -1 store I WOULD. The service is VERY poor. There was a lady who screamed and yelled at my face for all the wrong reasons. Yes I get it I accidentally parked because everywhere else is packed as heck so I thought they'll be lenient since I'll be gone for a couple of seconds but she yelled and screamed in my face acting like I'm a criminal. This one star is ONLY because you have to put at least one star to be able to write a review. I am writing this review because no one deserves to be treated like this and someone with this company needs to know how their customers are being treated at this store. TODAY at approximately 3:30 pm my husband went to Dover on Burnet Rd to pick up something he had called in to put on hold. He walked into the store (ding) and up to the counter. There was a group of employees (ladies) standing in the back, right of the store talking. One of the ladies who had on a white shirt was looking right in the direction he was standing. There was absolutely NO acknowledgement of his presence whatsoever. After 5-7 minutes of this going on, the group dispersed and a young lady came up to the counter, grabbed her water bottle, took a drink, and then said "Hello." He said "Hello." She said "Can I help you?" He said "Yes, I am here to pick up a package." He wanted to leave but he needed the item he was picking up today. He wanted to speak with a manager but opted not to at the time due to other circumstances. When the transaction was complete, she said, "Thank you." He said nothing and just walked out of the store. He said to me, "Honey, they just acted like I was invisible!" UNACCEPTABLE! DISRESPECTFUL! DISAPPOINTING! UNPROFESSIONAL!! I frequent this store often, but I'm not certain I will be returning after this. I order online from them but not so sure I want to do that anymore either. I refer a LOT of people to Dover but I'm so disappointed with this situation I just want to tell all the horse people I deal with not to ever purchase from them again. The service at Dover is excellent. I'm not sure how it was classified as a Pet Store on yelp. It's more like a pet store for horses, rather than indoor pets. Dover also has a beautiful selection of saddles and other types of riding gear. I took my daughter there last week to pick out boots and a riding helmet to get ready for a riding camp. Because I really have no experience with horses or riding, it was refreshing that the staff took us step by step through the process. It's just a one week camp, so they kept us near the lower end of pricing and still made sure she was fitted properly. These folks know their stuff and are clearly out to build long-term relationships with their customers. I couldn't be more pleased and my daughter loves her new gear. read more

I used to love the staff and selection that Dover had. The past 6 months, the staff I have experienced have been negative and completely unhelpful. Previously, I would be able to walk into this store and restrain myself from purchasing all of the wonderful items they had. Today I walked in, and was so incredibly disappointed. Bad customer service. People were sitting around ignored while they waited to be helped. All it takes is some attentiveness and a "we'll be right with you, sorry for the wait." Only positive was the man who ended up helping me did a good job. They didn't have my size and I ended up ordering on Smartpak--their customer service can't be beat. Imagine my disappointment, at once again, coming to Dover, spending $250+ and then processing your card and it showing immediately deducted in our account, only to be told it processed at the credit card terminal but not on the outdated DOS system being used at Dover. Once again, they promised the transaction will be reversed but can't give you a time frame of when you'll get your money back, since that is up to each individual bank. However, please pay for your items a second time and we'll be sure to get it right. This is our third attempt at purchasing from Dover (We love their products), and paying for our items, to be told that the card didn't process appropriately, and please pay for it again. Oh, and by all means, continue to be understanding of our outdated computer systems!! Sorry, I think it's silly and disappointing to wait for our credit card transaction to be credited back to our account, while being asked to pay for it again! read more

Great Store for Equestrians from children to adults. (Teenage) staff very knowledgeable, and friendly. Willing to look things up, not just say sorry. Like every other Equestrian store, come with a zero balance on your credit card... horse riding/competition is NOT cheap. Liberty, my salesperson was knowledgable and extremely helpful. She went over options, including price and quality, fitted items and helped me chose the things I needed as a beginner rider.
