Went to the Dough Hut on a Sunday morning (10am-ish?) in January. There was one girl working and I did notice that the shop is TINY. There wasn't too much of a selection, but I will acknowledge that I came in after 10am and they open very early, so it could be that I just missed the variety and quantity by being late. The girl was somewhat friendly, even though I had no idea what I wanted. I bought a dozen. The prices were fair, especially for a small business (as opposed to a huge chain like Dunkin'). Doughnuts range from $1 to over $3 each, depending on the type, but for the handcrafted specialty doughnuts available, I see that as fair. Just as a side note, THIS SHOP IS CASH ONLY, so make sure to bring an Andrew Jackson with you. I will admit that they were a bit smaller than I had imagined, but seeing as I bought a dozen doughnuts and planned to eat more than one, I don't think I needed them to be any bigger. They were extremely aesthetically pleasing and each one was a delightful pleasure in its own glory. I don't know if I can say that these are the best doughnuts I've ever eaten, but I thoroughly enjoyed them and plan to return -hopefully I can drag my lazy ass there a little earlier next time! **Edited To Add** I think it's important to share that unlike with Dunkin' Donuts or Krispy Kreme, I didn't feel like a complete Fatty McButterpants after I ate 2 doughnuts. Wish my experience was as great as everyone else's. I'm a city gal, in Long Beach for the day. My family and I walked past this place and I saw that they made the doughnuts in house so we went in. My complaint isn't about the doughnuts. They were good. My complaint is about the mood in that place. We spent only about 15 minutes in that place. I have never been here. It was my first time. I had to take everything in. I didn't know what to order. The woman at the front wasn't very helpful. Ok whatever it's just doughnuts. So we take our doughnuts and coffee and sit in the back. My son eats his doughnut and then starts to act like a typical three-year-old. Just being playful. I noticed everyone that left the store people said thank you and good bye. There was a man stamping boxes and doing paper work. I used to own a small cafe and I understand what having a small business means and all it's hard work. Believe me. There was a child's bike there in the back so I can only assume that someone in charge has a child. So maybe they can understand how a child must get. Long story short. We did not get a Thank You nor did we get a Good Bye. But a stare from that man doing his paper work. He was talking to another woman but that woman had been there for a bit. I love doughnuts. Well, previously it was Dunkin' that I was referring to, until I went here this morning for a little sweet pre-beach breakfast/snack. Holy lord of doughnuts what have I been eating before I came here?! The Dough Hut is tiny, and something you might drive right by heading down West Beech Street. But keep your eyes peeled because your stomach will thank you later for introducing you to some of the best doughnuts you'll ever consume. I came with my mother (mother/son beach bonding time) and we ordered four doughnuts (though I honestly wanted more than that from the interesting varieties they were offering). Our choices were vanilla butter cream, French toast, s'mores, and key lime. The inside of The Dough Hut is small with some counter space towards the back, so we took our doughy choices to go and ate em a few minutes later with some coffee (see other Long Beach reviews for coffee location). Each doughnut encompassed that doughy taste you expect from a doughnut, but with such a unique and light freshness. And the toppings of each doughnut were incredible. I tasted the French toast and vanilla butter cream (mom's choices) which both were accurately titled as the flavor matched the style. Mine were the other two which were dough-lightful. The s'mores had amazing, melted marshmallow on top along with a sweet chocolate glaze, while the key lime was sliced in half and spread with a creaminess that resembled that of the pie along with a lovely lime glaze on top. I'll be dreaming about that key lime doughnut tonight. Overall, I'll be dreaming about The Dough Hut until I return, which is bound to happen soon. I'm just worried I'll order every doughnut next time! read more

maybe the higher than average reviews are due to the fact that this place is in long beach, and not the city where fancy overly expensive [for the size] doughnuts are common place. okay, i sound like a doughnut snob which i suppose i am. regardless, the doughnuts are good but not fantastical. i tried the bacon maple, pistachio and strawberry sprinkles, 3 for $5. the flavors are a bit muted but the doughnuts are certainly soft, fresh and sweet. they're also very small; even more so than krispy kreme. the place is super clean and employees were friendly. certainly come here if you're in the mood for atypical flavors, but it's not like i'm going to go out of my way to come here in the future. read more

(3 and a half stars) This place is smaller than I expected,as were the doughnuts they served. Still,I remember reading reviews about how good the doughnuts are,and I wasn't disappointed! Sure,there weren't that many flavors to choose from and in the end I ordered the maple bacon (it was either that or the fruity pebbles that I ended up deciding between). I knew it wasn't a healthy way of starting off the new year (I mean,it's fried). The size of the doughnuts was a bit encouraging. They are as small as other reviews say,but they were substantial. And the actual doughnut remained intact and did not fall to pieces with each bite as the frosting and bacon bits did. I didn't find the doughnut too sweet,but then again I'm a bit of a guilty sweet tooth and am no sweet fried food expert. It was kind of like eating a pancake on steroids. With my err,circumstances,I came with family. It might have been a good thing that ours is so small because there weren't any tables in sight,just a few high tables and barstools. There was only one employee working too,and one thing people should know about me is that I am the opposite of claustrophobic--I feel most comfortable in areas with a (somewhat) high density of people. I'd give this four stars but I just don't like how small it is. Maybe they get more customers in the summer? Who knows,but one thing's for sure: if coming here did not require paying a toll fee or more effort to find than I initially thought,I'd be more eager to visit. read more

Took a dozen of these to a friend's BBQ for dessert and they absolutely stole the show. Good variety of flavors from the standard (strawberry frosted, old fashioned) to the kind-of-out-there (Oreo, Fruity Pebble) to the decadent (cannoli!). These aren't huge Doughnut Plant or Dunkin' sized donuts. They're relatively small (maybe palm sized) but pack a pretty good bunch. They don't feel too heavy or too sugary, but just enough. Quite frankly, I'm pretty glad I don't live closer or I'm sure I'd start looking like a donut. Please note that they likely don't accept credit cards (anymore?), or this was the case when we visited on 5/10/14. They do have a back of the store ATM, but just a head's up in case you don't like paying ATM fees. read more

Ugh the coffee is some of the best that I have ever had. They did seem to jack their prices up a little bit which kinda took them out of that really sweet spot of a cheap donut and coffee in the morning, but I guess that's what they have to do to survive in these hard times. This is a cozy, quant little donut shop in the west end of Long Beach, NY. The donuts are small but pack great flavor. The donuts are also cheap $1-$2 bucks each and they have combo specials. I walked in craving a maple bacon donut, that I had for the first time out of state. It turns out, they are the only place around that sells it! The owners and workers are very friendly and accommodating. The prices are perfect. I recommend the maple bacon, blueberry, vanilla bean and French toast, which tastes more like funnel cake. The donuts are extremely fresh and I will be returning. One suggestion I would make is for the maple bacon donut, which is delicious as is. Find some real maple syrup and make a frosting out of it! "I wish I tried one before spending $19 for a dozen." The donuts looked great, there was a nice selection, and they were fresh. The toppings and fillings were delicious, but sadly there was so much oil that after a bite I just couldn't eat anymore. I tried leaving the donuts on paper towels to draw out some oil, and it worked the paper towel was soaked through, but my donut was still too oily to eat. I found this place because of Yelp. This is a hidden gem that you can easily missed so slow down when driving, and there is barely any street parking but so worth circling the block for. My family and I visited Dough Hut on 8/13 and was greeted by the baker which I assume was the owner. The cashier was unfriendly and very stand off ish. If it wasn't for the baker's friendly welcoming I would of walked out. Needless to say these are the best donuts on heaven. The vanilla crumb is AMAZING!!! I was so disappointed with these donuts. First, let me start by sharing about the great service! The woman who assisted me was kind and patient. I didn't realize it was cash only, but no big deal. The prices were fair. I decided to give this place a try with so many high rating but they did not live up to their hype. I drove all the way here for the donuts and wow, was I disappointed. There were 11 flavors to choose from and I was initially excited by the selection... but soon after realized they're all the exact same donut with different toppings. For the most part, all the glazes were the same also. I read a great review of the pistachio donut so we couldn't wait to try that first- it was a semi-bland plain cake donut covered in a standard sugar glaze with pistachios sprinkled on top. Literally no pistachio flavor other than the few nuts in each bite. The fruity pebble donut was covered with stale fruity pebbles. The chocolate sprinkle donut was like a sugar explosion with little flavor otherwise. We did enjoy the French toast donut. Otherwise, all the donuts tasted practically the same. I wouldn't return and wish I had realized all flavors were the exact same donut before I made my way there. I wouldn't try again. read more

Went over to The Dough Hut while we were in Long Beach. It's a small comfy shop and we were immediately greeted warmly and were met with the different selections for the day. My two kids got a strawberry donut with rainbow sprinkles and a chocolate donut with chocolate sprinkles. Meanwhile, I had a vanilla crumb and a cookies and cream with a cold brew coffee. My kids they said the donuts were 10/10, I agree these are some of the best donuts. The donuts were not dry and not heavy at all.
