There is a 'Travel in the time of COVID-19' learning curve... The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. When entering our room there is a sticker over the seam of the door and door-jam that gives a sense of security that the room has been sufficiently cleaned due to COVID-19 expectations. The master bathroom mirror has a QR code to scan and read what steps are being taken for cleanliness. Again a good addition, however the code was too small for use. That could be my scanning abilities failing, but there is also a website listed to read if desired but it is so generalized it basically reads we're cleaning the rooms. I would recommend calling the individual hotel where you wish to stay if you have specific cleaning questions. In our room there was a sitting area when you walked in that is separated by a door to bedroom. The sitting room has a tv, couch with decorative pillows, and bar area with a counter, sink, single brew coffee pot and small fridge. The counter had a piece of brown paper or cardboard stuck to it. This should have been removed by the cleaning crew. We put water on it when we left so it would be easier to remove later. The bedroom has only 1 light source available: a small lamp on the desk in the far corner on the other side of the TV, not easily found in the dark. Nightstand lamps may have been taken away because they are a high touch area, however decorative pillows in the other room are more high touch and on average are rarely cleaned. The toilets are air assist which flushes more strongly when using low water equipment - efficient but extremely loud when used in the night. I got into the shower the next morning and my sense of security concerning cleanliness was dashed completely. There was a dirty ring around the drain. (The clean portion in the pic is where I wiped it to see what it was.) That is bacteria bloom and doesn't occur after 1 use but is a buildup of bacteria that is repeatedly dampened and not cleaned. I had to use the sink to wash up. When asking for a place to eat breakfast, we were told restaurants in downtown area are still takeout, including the hotel restaurant. We decided to find something on the road. Because of COVID-19 I would recommend retraining employees in a more detailed cleaning practice. Travel is certainly a different experience now and the learning curve for cleanliness has a much brighter light being shown onto it. Unfortunately cleanliness has become a pass or fail report card, especially if you would have children involved in the stay. Currently I would give cleanliness a fail at this hotel but hopefully this will change soon.

A steam-punk vibe permeates this wonderful hotel, which has clearly recently had a spectacular renovation.

This is THE place to see bands within an hour radius. Through the years they've consistently had the best lineups and best dance area. I'm updating my review because what was already an AMAZING place has gotten even better throughout the years. I last reviewed them in 2016 and have had 25 Yelp confirmed check ins since. I've been to Shawbucks/The Press Room AT LEAST 60 times since 2016, but I'm bad about remembering to check in on Yelp. Let's start with the amazing owner who treats bands and staff so well. He genuinely loves and takes pride in his business which shows. Bartenders hustle! Wednesday before Thanksgiving We Speak Canadian had the bars, tables, and dance floor PACKED shoulder to shoulder. Bartenders were ontop of it and wait times were very reasonable. No favoritism at all, everyone was served promptly. Even bouncers and the owner helped clear tables, the stage edge, bathrooms, and random places people leave empty drinks. This is a safe place to see bands that tolerates zero nonsense. Security are very active and present. IDs are checked and rules are enforced to maintain a safe comfortable venue. Even metal shows aren't too rowdy. Food is absolutely amazing! Best mushroom gravy meatloaf of my life. Amazing sword fish filet. Mind blowing risotto. Great wings with a great sauce selection. Solid chicken fingers/tenders. Fresh crisp salads. Great dressings. Perfectly made cocktails. Large beer selection. Friendly fast waitresses. Very clean place! No sticky bar floors, menus, or tables. I highly recommend them for food and going to see bands live! Side Note: I got teary eyed when DJ Fish's daughter got on stage to announce We Speak Canadian. RIP DJ Fish, he was such a big part of Jamestown's music scene and a wonderful man. It was cool to have him honored like that. He's missed.

We were trying to find some kid friendly fall activities when we stumbled upon the Port Farms website. We took the (easy) 30 min drive to Waterford and it did not disappoint. We arrived around 11am, an hour after they opened. Plenty of guests were there but the parking area is very well organized and large. We had no issues parking close to the entrance and only waited around 2-3 minutes in line to pay for admission. While we were there my daughter had a blast. We went on the Wagon ride down the trail by the cornfields and she loved all the funny/creative scarecrows along the way. Another big hit was the climbing jungle gym area. She visited that area about 3 times while we were there. The bubble station seemed to be a huge hit with both kids and adults, as those bubbles they were creating were massive. I saw a few flying all the way above the parking lot. Very cool. There's plenty of activities for all ages and some extras with additional fees. We didn't try any of the extras but for a kid her age, what we did was perfect. We did also eat lunch there, over by the massive tire area that kids seemed to love for climbing. The giant pretzel was bigger than my head and my daughter loved her pizza. On our way out we stopped at the store and purchased some of the odd shaped gourds and beautiful little white and mult-colored mini pumpkins to take home. My daughter also had one of the apple cider slushies available within the gift shop at the bakery counter area. It was really good! Lovely fall trip - well worth the money for us to both have a great time while away from home. This is easily one of the best fall harvest type events that I've been to. We will be back next October!

We got there around 10:00 and the parking was really easy and they had an attendant that showed us where to go. I was able to bring my little wagon into the farm which made going around very easy. If you are a college student and have ID the price of admission is $10 and kids under two are free. So it's an affordable event to go to for as much stuff as they have inside. We immediately went to the corn pit and I had to take my daughter out of it kicking and screaming. The goats were also a big hit but I didn't have a quarter for her to feed them herself. Next time I'll know, bring quarters. She also had a great time in the little kids village where she sat in the rocks with the Tonka trucks and just had a grand time. The slides and the balls were also fun for her. I had to take her out of the basketball area because it was giving me a little bit of anxiety since she's so small. But she loved it. My favorite part was the fresh squeezed lemonade. Just to tell you it's all the way in the back towards the trampoline jumpers. But totally worth it even though I had to ask three people where to go. I even got one for the road. We ended the day buying a few mini pumpkins and a gallon of cider. Overall it was a great day and a great place to spend time with young kids.
