We had our choice of breakfast (juice, coffee, fruit, Amish friendship bread, scrambled eggs, blueberry pancakes, bacon, and French toast) and breakfast time. We stayed in the downstairs/main floor bedroom, which had a bathroom, queen bed, TV, and window A/C unit. We didn't hear chickens in the morning, but we did hear the train. Norma was really nice; she shared some wine, and we brought home some fresh cut flowers, Amish sourdough starter/instructions, and Amish friendship bread. There were cats, but they didn't go into our room, and they seemed to stay outdoors a lot.

There are only two rooms that are in the house with your hosts. But there was plenty of space and privacy. For my husband and I. Norma is attentive and fun! Her communication is stellar!! You are surrounded by grape vineyards and elderberry complete with ducks, roosters and a pond on 86 acres. We walked the grounds, Norma gave us a little tour of the elderberries and they were currently harvesting them for an Apple festival. The grapes were in full blown this time of year so the delicious smell of grapes was in the air. You are close to great restaurants near by we went to a local favorite Freeport restaurant. In the morning we were blown away by our fresh country breakfast of eggs (freshly gathered that morning) homemade muffins, fresh fruit (not canned) grape juice again homemade (you are on a grape vineyard farm, of course!). Pancakes, bacon, coffee, hot chocolate. The sweet conversation they sat with us and made us feel like we were family. I was moved to tears when I first walked in feeling overwhelmed by the coziness and feeling of family missed greatly. Before we left she gave me two bouquets of flowers from her garden as a birthday gift. I regret ever booking this place. DO NOT STAY HERE!…read more We were traveling with friends and they needed a pet friendly hotel so we booked a three night stay. When we got to our room we saw there was a black moldy looking substance on the popcorn ceiling right over the bed, there was the faint smell of urine and mustiness and there was a spot on the bathroom door where someone obviously punched a hole in it. The look on my girlfriends face when we saw all this said in no uncertain terms we weren't staying in this place. I drove to the Clarion I recommend them highly) right up the road and made sure a room was available, then immediately went to the Red roof office and told them we were leaving and wanted a refund. They refused to refund me for the night, but did refund the rest of our stay. I found out later this is a well known NO TELL MOTEL, common for assignations of an adulterous nature. That was not our purpose and I resent them thinking it was! In effect they stole 71.00 from me since they promised a clean and useable room and FAILED MISERABLY to deliver. This place is lower than one star! I would rather sleep in an open field than stay here; ...at least the field doesn't have unknown black moldy looking crap likely to float down on you as you sleep! STAY AWAY!

If you…read morelive in the Edinboro/Erie/surrounding area or are looking to visit this area, I highly recommend you book a stay here for your own retreat or trip instead of a night in another chain hotel! We were looking for a 'staycation' that felt like a getaway, and that's exactly what we got! For all we knew, it felt like we had traveled hundreds of miles to a vacation destination tucked away on our own exclusive resort! Their team was great and access to the room was totally contactless. They are pet-friendly and have a # of different style cabins with varying degrees of luxury & with our cabin rental, we received free kayak/canoe rentals and also received a discount to rent a pontoon boat, which we did and would do again! P.S. you do NOT need a license to drive the boat and all life jackets (except infant) are provided! You can bring food and alc/non-alc beverages on board for everyone to enjoy, except the driver, who can still enjoy a nice mocktail. The cabins were squeaky clean and have everything you need and more, most importantly: wi-fi, TV(s), heat, and A/C! Some cabins have their own deck, picnic table, and grill, but there are MULTIPLE community fire-pits and grills scattered elsewhere throughout. Even though we did not stay in a cabin right on the water, the second row was elevated high enough to still have a lake view! BIG BONUS POINTS if you have kids, as they have a HUGE lake-side sandbox like I've never seen before and an awesome playground! Hungry? Thirsty? No problem - take a few steps and you're at the connected Sunset Grill restaurant, which has a gorgeous view and observatory, live music on some nights, and my most-favorite feature, little dining cubbies for larger groups with your OWN, personal, controllable heat lamp and fan - absolutely brilliant. (No reservations unfortunately, but they were very accommodating as we tried to seat our larger group) We will definitely be going back! Great location! To…read morestart off this is a very tight campground that can be a bit confusing to navigate. Luckily they have golf carts that wait for your arrival and show you to your spot. The staff at check in was great. She showed us our spot and gave us a packet of information with a map of the campground, state park, and other things to do in the area. The space was clean and concrete and rocks so you don't have to worry about mud. You are very close to the other campers but everyone was nice and quiet in the evening. We did not take a shower but did use the bathrooms at the shower house and they were clean and have a code entry. We drove over to the other part of the campground on the lake and walked to beach. It felt like two separate campgrounds. So it was confusing to know where the campground events were taking place. I asked someone in the camp store and was told by the playground maybe. We walked around a little bit didn't find it. The location is key. It is right at the entrance to the state park, with a beach across the street, close to the multi purpose trail and restaurants.
