PROS: -Friendly, attentive staff all around -Clean, modern, large rooms and bathrooms. -Fridge, Large TV, Coffee Machine. -Comfy Beds -Central location, walking distance to bars, restaurants, shops and more. -Breakfast buffet has nice selection of foods including eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, grits, french toast, fruits, cereals, and more. -You can get an entire bottle of wine for $22 in the lounge...YES PLEASE! I stepped on a used contact that became stuck to my foot. there are no fans in the bathroom, even coughing can be heard as if someone is next to you. stay at the northern it 1000 times cleaner and better with better parking. read more

Our tour filed off the bus, walked into their lobby, and were greeted by a big box of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies! Our hotel room was very large, the bed was comfortable, the room temperature was perfect, the TV, Wifi, and shower worked great, and there was a nice desk/workstation. We had plenty of plugs to charge our phones, etc. What could be better? Well, how about breakfast way up on the 20th floor? It was one of the very best buffet breakfasts on our trip with plenty of fruit, hot foods, yogurt, cereal, granola, pastries and the very freshest and biggest croissants I have ever seen. And of course, the view of Billings from the 20th floor was amazing. PRO TIPS, BATHROOM EDITION The bathroom in our room (618) was one of the largest in recent memory. The shower had plenty of hot water and pressure and gets bonus points for safety with grab bars on all three shower walls. As great as the shower was, the toilet was lacking in a few areas. First of all --it sits very low to the ground, so it might be challenging if your knees aren't in tip-top shape. But worse than that, the water pressure when you flush the toilet is quite weak. Anemically weak. So weak, it will take 2 or 3 flushes to complete its business after your morning business is through. read more

This was my first time visiting Billings, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I will say that Billings in general really surprised me. It's a quaint yet somewhat vibrant city that offers some great food, views, and experiences This hotel is interesting. It is one of the tallest if not the tallest building in the city. I was on the 11th floor and I could get a morning view of the sunrise, and I could also see the refinery that I would be working at each day while visiting The hotel itself is well decorated, but there are aspects that show its age a little. All told, the room was fine. It was made up each day with fresh towels, new sheets, etc. There's a fitness center that is clean with plenty of equipment. There is a restaurant, bar/lounge, and coffee shop. I only tried the latter, the Marble Coffee Co., and it was a solid experience. I will review them separately A couple of pro's to staying here is it is in the heart of Billings. You're staying in downtown, and there's so many restaurants, bars, etc nearby. The front and back doors are all superheated so you warm up immediately when coming in from the cold winter air. The airport is close. You're like 10-15min away. Also, because it's a Doubletree, you can always get warm signature cookies at the front desk. Some of the downsides to staying here are the parking situation. There's a small lot for parking, and if it's full, and it fills up quickly, you have to park in a separate parking garage where the will validate your parking. The water in the room is not complimentary. There's water in the lobby, but a couple times they ran out of cups. Also, a couple outlets in my room didn't work, and my phone died overnight when I thought it was charging. On my last day, I returned to checkout after working in the field and I went to take a shower, and the water pressure was incredibly low, and the water was more cold than warm Also, the elevators were giving me trouble. I couldn't get my card to work and I actually got stuck in the elevator for a bit. I had multiple people take a look at it before maintenance fixed it. I will say Anna and the maintenance team were great. Another individual working the front desk was rude, wouldn't look at me when I had follow-up questions at the desk, and when I called letting them know I was in the elevator and asking how long it might take to get out she was very short with me and even hung up on me. She is the main reason I am leaving such a low review. It left a bad taste in my mouth, and it was already somewhat traumatizing being stuck in the elevator when I needed to checkout and get to the airport Some tips: I was able to get late checkout, and they offered to hold my bags, so, if you need that service, they're happy to oblige. I would also, visit downtown for a fun night out. Some of my favorites were Spitz and the Burger Dive (as seen on Man vs. Food). My absolute favorite stop was the Art House Cinema & Pub - take in an affordable film or just enjoy the delicious food in their restaurant Cheers!! read more

Staff are friendly, accommodations look updated since my last stay. I want to say it's great, BUT the AC didn't work - after running for 3 hours the room was still 76 degrees. Hotter than outside at nighttime. I did call the front desk about it, they don't have anyone on staff to fix it at this time. Is it the worst? No! I do like the room and hotel. Can I sleep at 76 degrees? Nope! Doesn't quite meet the need I booked the room for. Over $300 with tax is a little expensive for an all nighter. read more

My husband booked this hotel expecting it to be a bit of a nice one. Lobby was nice, but I was not too impressed with the general feeling of the room. Definitely can tell it is an old place that has just undergone a few facelifts. But why am I giving it one star??? The following pics will show why...hair and grime all around the toilet. NASTY!!! Looked like it had not been cleaned for many stays. And the vanity was so dirty it looked like it had not been wiped down in months. When I called the front desk and reported the filth, the receptionist did apologize, but didn't even offer a discount. Was not very impressed. Definitely will not be staying there again! read more

Extremely comfortable and convenient stay. The front desk staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating. Free hot cookies were offered by them throughout our stay. We asked for extra towels, shampoos and soaps and they were freely given without hesitation. Nice We have stayed at this location twice and both times found it clean, spacious, and relaxing. Great beds, plenty of quality pillows, decent shower. The water pressure was slightly lacking, but I came out clean and refreshed just the same. There is a quaint little bar that serves meals on the lobby floor. The drinks and food were good. There is a full restaurant upstairs also. We tried the breakfast buffet (not complimentary $9.00/person) it had a ton of options to choose from. I was excited by the spread of breakfast items, but I'd say it was a mediocre experience. What you'd expect from food served from warmers that may have been sitting a little too long. Our second stay we opted for the room service breakfast menu and though, a little pricey, our meals were excellent!!!! We couldn't finish what we were served, but dang, they were tasty!!!! I also really appreciated the full service coffee shop on the lobby floor. Yes drip brew coffee is provided in the rooms free of charge, but I really love my dirty chai lattes. The closest parking lot out front of the entrance is free and convenient. Just know it fills quickly in the evenings and finding a spot there at that time is tricky. There is a parking garage across the street with a sky walk that connects to the hotel. Not sure if it's free, but it's an option. No pool or hot tub area. We are okay with that considering it's not a must for us. Walking distance from downtown night life and restaurants which is great if your planning on having a few drinks. read more

Very nice hotel with a comfortable bed and atmosphere. I like to stay here in my business trips to Billings Montana. It is convenient to restaurants, not far from the airport and I get a really good nights rest here. The rooms are well appointed with a king bed with comforter. All the basics furnishings with rustic Art Deco. As a Hilton Diamond member you have access to the lounge on the 17th floor. It offers snacks with free beer and wine in the evening; coffee and some food in the morning. I highly recommend walking down the road to Stella's for breakfast but for some people the 17th floor is enough. The lobby has a full Starbucks. That alone gives cause for staying here but as I wrote earlier the bed in this hotel is one of the best. read more

My experience is a bad one at the DoubleTree. We walked into the room it was definitely a smoked in....we asked to be switched and they told us all the rooms used to be smoking rooms so it wouldn't matter if we switched they all smell like smoke. they're exact words were that the walls remembered when they were smoking rooms. The TV wasn't working the toilet ran on and off all day and night. The carpet wasn't even vacuumed. No coffee on the lobby, you could buy it at their coffee store. What else what's in the room is definitely a smoked in room. They sent somebody up to fix the toilet and the TV and said it was fixed but it wasn't. This is less than a three-star hotel.... I have been at the Double Tree hotel now for my 5th day. I had to bring a lot of luggage and equipment with me to service a local business in the area. Tonight I have a flight at 5pm and won't be done with the local business until 2pm and need a little extra time (maybe till 2:30 or 3pm) to prepare for my flight and change out of my fire retardant clothes into casual attire for the flight. I understand that 1pm is typical for late checkout, but the excuse that you have a lot of people checking in doesn't seem to pull weight when you have a customer who has been on your premises for the entire week. This lack of service makes sense on why the establishment is at a 2-1/2 star rating. Very upsetting. read more

Truly terrible pricing. I've never paid this much for a hotel room in my life. When I first walked in everything was alright they gave me a free cookie that turned hard as a rock 30 minutes later. Then I got up to the hotel... first thing I smell is sewer. Then I turn on the ac and realize there's mold inside the vents. Then we to go turn on the shower and the water wouldn't drain. So I couldn't take a shower. Which I'm supper glad I didn't because once all the water drained away, what was left was black mold everywhere. I can't believe I slept in this room, disgusting. And I'm a dude whose slept in barns and stuff. Would 10/10 chose a barn to sleep in over this. Don't make the same mistake I did. Don't stay here. read more

I chose to stay here because I have had reasonably good experiences with Doubletree in the past. However, this hotel is not worthy of that name. It's impossible to find the entrance because of bad street signage. You can see the building from a million miles away, but figuring out how to navigate the one way streets to make it to the entrance is a pain. They advertise a free on-site parking, but what they fail to say is there are approximately 50 spots for a 20+ floor hotel. So, everyone else not lucky/early enough to get those spots gets to park in the public lot connected to the hotel via a skybridge. Then after checking in, we got to our room only to discover that we didn't have a refrigerator, as advertised in the listing. I called the front desk and, after blaming the issue on the third party I booked through, they did agree to move me into one of the "deluxe" rooms. (I've been using that third party to book hotels for 20+ years and I've never encountered this problem.) I exchanged keys only to discover that the "deluxe" room is literally identical to the regular room, just with a $75 dorm fridge sitting on the floor between the TV cabinet and the desk. The rooms are dated and dark. The shower/toilet area is microscopic and the sink area is open to the entire room, which makes for a weird layout. The worst part was when I checked out the next morning. I decided to put my luggage on a cart and use the skybridge to load my car, because getting out of the public lot and making it to the front of the hotel was going to be a pain. So I pulled my vehicle to a loading area just outside the door to the skybridge in the parking garage, and proceeded to load. An employee of the hotel comes driving up in her white Chevy Tahoe and asks me to close my driver's side door, because it is blocking her reserved spot. I close the door immediately and apologize. I continue to load, which should have been obvious because I had every other door open including the hatch. The employee then makes some witchy comment about how she's surprised I didn't get towed. I look at her like she's nuts, because again, I'm obviously loading, and explain I was simply parked here to load. She made some passive aggressive remark and went on her way. Maybe she saw my Maryland plates and just decided to make an assumption. But in big East coast cities we have a thing called "minding your own business." It works beautifully for us. Perhaps people in Billings, Montana need to give it a try. read more

The beds are fairly comfortable but the AC units are loud and makes sleeping through the night a bit difficult. The staff is very friendly and helpful and I was very happy with the service provided. I'd stay here on my frequent visits to Billings, but it wouldn't be my first choice to stay. The location is definitely great and central to good restaurants, free parking just outside or in a garage across the street and the Starbucks in the hotel is convenient. read more

I hate to do it but this hotel is absolutely 1 star. I booked a suite for my brief stay in Billings. I arrived and the only room they had available for me was a basic room, which I was fine with. I was only staying for a couple hours I only needed a clean room to sleep in. After unpacking and getting ready to shower and go to sleep I opened the shower curtain. The tub was full of black water that smelled like sewerage. Disgusted I got dressed and re packed my belongings and headed down stairs to ask for a different room. The young man at the counter was actually very nice and accommodating, I got a new room key and headed to get some rest. The outside temperature was about 10 degrees and the room felt just as cold and the heater did not work. Frustrated and tired I ended up sleeping in my winter clothes, completely exhausted I made it work. I reached out to the hotel and have not heard back. I payed almost 300 bucks for one night for one room that smelled like shit and switched to another room that was cold as shit. Avoid this hotel at all cost. read more

The DoubleTree in Billings, Montana was an absolute travesty when compared to DoubleTrees we have stayed in around the country. We have always enjoyed the above and beyond approach that has made the DoubleTree somewhere we will always look to first. This was not the case for this trip, we ended up at a DoubleTree hotel like no other. Upon arrival after several hours of travel in the car we are met by a front lobby full of people who were not able to go to the rooms that they have reserved. In overheard conversations some said they had reserved these rooms months in advance. Apparently, the hotel was short on housekeeping staff for the day. These unavailable rooms were all double rooms, the type we had reserved as well. After waiting in line to speak to the very rude and inconsiderate human being at the desk, I found out that the only option we were going to have would be to take a queen bed with a pull out couch in the room. This was absolutely unacceptable, but we had no other choice as we were in town hoping to have a small getaway before a meeting with a very special doctor for our children Monday morning, now I wish we had just stayed home. Upon getting cards after checking in and bringing all our things inside we get to our room to find that it is a small corner room with cracks in the ceiling, cracks in the sink, no refrigerator, and torn pieces on the couch. The couch was a dilapidated, dated excuse of a place for my children to sleep. Upon opening this couch and folding it to be able to make up their beds we found a yellowing thin mattress that did not even completely unfold because of how small the room was and the positioning of the furniture including the bed. Therefore my wife and I had to rearrange the entire room to be able to use this bed. After a rough nights sleep, using what were the most uncomfortable, knotty, terrible pillows, we wake up and watch TV as a family for a few minutes before going to breakfast. We look over across from this decrepit couch and see inside the floor vent, it is disgusting, full of dust and dirt and other things we had to make ourselves look away from to keep from throwing up. After that we went out and enjoyed a lovely day in Billings. Upon returning to the hotel that evening we realized that the critical cookies had been missing. This is a DoubleTree tradition that my special needs sons love and always count on and they were let down. They were not offered, they were not available, we did not get them until Sunday evening. Another travesty occurred when we decided we would like to have some water on the nightstand before we go to sleep this led to what was probably the cherry on top of the visit because the paper cups marked for coffee actually disintegrated on the nightstand creating pools of water that managed to ruin several of our electronics. This was very disappointing as we look to the future we will not be staying at this DoubleTree ever again as it was a poor imitation of a brand standard that we had grown to trust. On the plus side, although appearing overworked and tired the housekeeping staff we encountered were kind and accommodating. I wish I could say the same for the employees at the front desk who were anything but kind and accommodating. It must be mentioned that this is with the exception of one gentleman Sunday night who went above and beyond to help provide a special request politely, with great hospitality. read more
