I really wanted to love Cluckman's! I've lived on the East End for almost 30 years and when people…read moreinvest in opening a business in these economic times they deserve a chance to succeed! There are way too many vacant stores and closed restaurants! That being said I finally made it to Cluckmans on a beautiful September day about 1PM. There's a beautiful park with picnic tables adjacent to the parking lot that overlooks the harbor. The restaurant was not busy as I walked right up to order. The place is clean and well organized with about 8 tables and a condiment counter with free ketchup, mayo, mustard, ranch and honey mustard. Since it's my first visit I ordered the Traditional Chicken Sandwich and Hand cut fries. Service was quick but the sandwich is way too big for the small bun, there was way too much Thousand Island dressing and it was spilling out all over the wrapper! I took the sandwich apart and wiped away as much of the dressing and ate the chicken and avocado separately! It was actually pretty good! The fries were a very generous sized sack but they obviously had been sitting for a while because they were not crisp, very soggy and oily! I would like to give them another try but I would definitely think about a larger bun and ease up on the dressing! I wish them good luck!

The jumbo shrimp may have been my favorite, but the tuna tartar and crab/lobster were good too. Fries: could have a little more crispy, but very decent fries and well-seasoned. We asked for ketchup, mayo and hot sauce to dip in. Calamari: crispy and seasoned well, with a mustard sauce.

While it's pleasant to dine outdoors on a nice day, on a hot humid day without much shade the lunch experience was more akin to a sauna. Their limited lunch menu and high pricing ($16 surcharge for a few shrimp added to my salad!) coupled with glacially slow service made for a mediocre experience at best. One and done. Our dinner at Baron Cove's upstairs venue was much better. My mezcal-based "Smoky Summer" cocktail was delicious and refreshing. Tuna resting on a spiced tomato sauce and mashed potatoes (cheerfully substituted for included fries by our friendly server Aislinn) entree was very tasty and a good portion. My partner had local halibut with lentils. Although not a fish lover, he said the halibut tasted very fresh and finished everything. Service and room ambiance were excellent on a weekday evening, with good climate control.
