On my way to New Braunfels, had a craving for pizza so I stopped at "Double Dave's". I wasn't disappointed, everything about this place was amazing. As you walk in you see a good amount of seating inside and some outside in the patio area. Upon entering you walk up to the counter, the owner was present, which he gave us good advice on what was on special. At the counter you see a wide selection of options from food to an array of beverages. From different types of pizzas, wings, stromboli's, desserts among other items. I got the pepperoni pizza thin crust and a meateater thin crust and mild flavor wings, they were extremely delicious, you can taste the natural ingredients the wings were outstanding. This place is awesome, from the service which was excellent to the food which was beyond excellent. The atmosphere was impeccable, well taken care of, this definitely a place you will want to come back and visit. I highly recommend this place. read more

I ordered spinach on 1/2 of my pizza thinking fresh leaf spinach and what I got was green horrible tasting mush on the entire pizza when I clearly put 1/2 so I didn't get to eat ANY of my pizza ‍ Mushy piles, not fresh leaf spinach. I love jalapeños, got jarred pickled. Not fresh. It was just gross and instant regret ordering from here. 30.00 for a very small thin crust pizza so I assumed fresh ingredients. I need to find a place close to me that I can pick up a decent pizza. Still on my quest to find the best pizza place in NBTX. This is not only NOT a contender, it's just the worst so far. They don't age their dough at all and I doubt they even use yeast. And I know this for 2 reasons: 1. It's like flavorless flour gum then you can chew forever. Like cm overly chewy matzo bread. 2. Since the shitty doesn't rise they fold it under to give the appearance of rising crust. (See pic) The pizza rolls are ok. Should be called pepperoni rolls because there's hardly any cheese but the bread makes them too chewy. I'll go to any crummy chain place over this. Let me first take a step back and really try and put into words about Double David's. The environment is a small time feel of a pizzeria. Awesome decor and very friendly and attentive staff. Aaron took our order and is a very pleasant human with the knowledge of his products and ingredients. Fresh in vegetables and topping with marinara or Alfredo sauce. Homemade crust is amazing! A friend and I had the spinach, artichoke, pepperoni, bacon, jalapeños with smoked Gouda. And it is by far the BEST pizza I've ever had! When you have a chance please consider this pizzeria spot. Our intention was to eat at Pie Society last night, but they had over an hour wait and we had a schedule to keep. So we had DoubleDave's. Let me start by saying the girl behind the counter was as nice as could be. Very friendly and accommodating. We ordered a small cheese and a Dave's Fave with meat from her. We sat down and the restaurant was pretty warm. Tolerable but not great. They got the cheese pizza out in a fair amount of time but had to remake the other because they put the wrong sauce on it. The pie cones with a white sauce. We understood and appreciated their willingness to get it right. But the pizza took sooooooo long after that. They were apologetic, but we basically lost that hour we intended to save by not going to our first choice. When the pie came, it was ok. The sauce was not very noticeable. Crust was decent, as were the toppings. The cheese pizza was ok, too. All in all, not the greatest experience. I appreciated the employees' attitude, but the pizza and the lack of efficiency means I would not recommend. Go to Pie Society instead. read more

My wife and son drank the sweet tea yesterday and they both said it was "off" and while driving home they both began throwing up. We called to let them know and the young lady who answered the phone was rude, told us everything is fresh made and that they must have gotten it from something else we ate ... no empathy or compassion. With the kitchen open to the dining you can sit there and watch the employees eating on the make line and of the employees had just bussed a table as he went back and started eating. The food here is just your average pizza place with your usual pizza parlor mainstays on the menu. The pizza rolls are what make this place stand out, with Monday nights being $1 pizza roll night. The pizza is average. Nothing more, nothing less. If you are a connoisseur of pizza and you turn your nose up to anything that is not New York pizza, go elsewhere. Better yet, hop in your car, go to San Antonio International Airport and fly back to New York. If you like average pizza, and want to take the kids for pizza, this is a great place. This place is also very clean, and the owner is always behind the counter waiting on people. Always dedicated to customer service with conversation and a friendly smile. The food also comes in a reasonable amount of time. No complaints at all for this place. I also highly recommend coming here on Monday evenings after 5:30 p.m. Along with the $1 pizza rolls, this place has live music by local country singer Monte Good. If you are a fan of good country music, I highly recommend coming out to hear Monte belt out some classic tunes for you. If you are a fan of Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, or any of the new snap track country songs, don't bother. I'm honestly sort of confused... so this evening my family ordered a BBQ Chicken Pizza half with jalapeños from Double Dave's via Favor. We got the pizza, looks and smells super delicious, however it had zero sauce on the pizza? It was straight up cheese and bread. No BBQ. I called right away and they at first tried to explain it as a favor issue but after a moment apologized and said they would make another and send it out with their own delivery person but that it might take a little while due to how busy they were. No worries. That's great. An hour and a half later their delivery guy shows up again trying to explain it off as a favor issue and hands us our pizza. Again. No. Sauce. ???? Straight up cheese and bread and half jalapeños. But no sauce. Mom is on the phone with them right now trying to get to the bottom of it. Very odd indeed. Otherwise a good pizza. This place is awesome! The staff is amazing and will do whatever they have to so that you have an amazing experience. My wife can't eat tomatoes so we decided to order a pizza with an Alfredo sauce. There was an issue with the Grubhub app and the request for no red sauce didn't make it to the restaurant. Long story short, after a call to the restaurant the owner corrected the pizza for us and delivered it himself. He was very nice and as a result of how they handled the situation and the amazing pizza they have gained a customer for life. We ordered a large 15" pizza with alfredo sauce, spinach, basil, artichokes, onions, mushrooms, three cheeses and chicken. It was hands down the best pizza I've had in a long time. Can't wait to place our next order! Shout out to the young man that answered the phone and assisted in getting this taken care of prior to the manager getting involved. Me and my girlfriend are here on a weekly basis, I know the owner pretty well now through the many interactions we've had. He's very nice and brings a nice atmosphere when he's there. I've seen a lot of other reviews talking about the price and quality being something to be desired. Honestly after coming to eat here for so long, I've come the conclusion that this is the result of poor choices by corporate than the actual business. I personally don't eat a single pizza off of the menu because Bill, the owner, has made so many recommendations that are far better. Id recommend pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms and hot honey. Salty with a punch of umami and a touch of spicy honey to cut it down. (This was recommended to me by the owner) The only problem I have with this place is that some of these people need to put their children on leashes and muzzle themselves. I absolutely love this place!! I go there every Friday and the customer service is off the charts. Special mention to Bill and Casey who make me feel like a valuable customer every time I go there. The pizza is awesome and the atmosphere is great. I have made a couple of mistakes when placing my order but Bill always has the patience to explain to me what I did wrong and going above a.nd beyond by making things right even when it was my error. Ordered twice, first order was a hand tossed that had no sauce on it at all. Second order was a deep dish that was not a deep dish it was thicker but was definitely not deep dish. I ordered a medium all meat with extra sauce and again got a pizza with no sauce on it, and it had a total of 8 pepperonis on it and the other toppings were just as scarce. Horrible.
