Unfortunately, the banana bread had already been sold out by the time I managed to swing by Urban Supply this afternoon around 3 p.m. (if anything, that only shows how good it is) so I can't personally attest to the deliciousness of the banana bread. However, I did enjoy a very smooth, bright-tasting Americano for €2. Although Urban Supply only opened in November 2017, I can already tell that it's become a neighborhood favorite just two short months later. Even on a typical rainy Berlin winter day, I saw plenty of people stop by for a coffee to-go or settle in for a nice chat with a friend. Though the pictures on the website depict a very bright, minimalistic hipster interior, it was pretty dark and a little moody during my visit. That was probably due to the weather, but I think this alternative aesthetic works well for Urban Supply -- you want your coffee to be dark and strong! Aside from the popular banana bread, Urban Supply also offers smoothies, sandwiches, and all the Fritz-Kola your heart could ever desire. Sit back and relax: there are plenty of comfy seat cushions and free wifi to boot!

I ordered the Berlin Bagel, which came with smoked salmon, but my friend and I got our orders to go. I got all the way upstairs to my room at the hostel before I opened up the box to see scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. I went all the way back down to exchange my order. I was just confused as to how they mixed it up- my friend also got a sandwich and they don't even package sandwiches/bagels (wrapped in a paper bag) the same way as they do the breakfasts with eggs (styrofoam to-go box). Other than that, the bagel sandwich was just okay, the bagel was kind of tough and chewy and the lemon cream cheese was not my favorite when paired with the smoked salmon.

The boss also roasts the beans himself. Fully devoted to the coffee world he gives his best to pass the very soul of coffee to his clients. There is no food here except for a couple of tasty homemade pastries and some chocolates, which is just natural for a temple of coffee. My opinion: the best espresso you can find in Berlin. 14.03.2011 unfortunately not the best espresso in Berlin anymore. Last week I visited this location after quite a pause and was really disappointed. Don't know if the owner has changed (I didn't see Herr Sager around this time) bur espresso has definitely changed. The taste is still all right but the consistence is not "Italian" anymore. For my taste it was too watery and not enough oily. The pastries are still delicious, the staff very friendly (they even tried to make me another espresso as they noticed that I was not satisfied with mine) and the atmosphere is nice. But from now on I gonna drink my coffee elsewhere...

We were close to the cafe so decided to give it a try. We of course ordered the Apple strudel and pumpkin soup. The pumpkin soup was delicious and the the food presentation was so appetizing. Café Bilderbuch is the apple of Schöneberg's eye when it comes to Gemütlichkeit (or coziness) but…read moreI'm afraid that the hype doesn't quite extend to its food. As the name of the restaurant suggests, the atmosphere is picturebook perfect: imagine that you've walked right into someone's antique living room/dining room/personal library hybrid (complete with comfy armchairs and bookcases) and you have Café Bilderbuch. But only come here for a meal on a slower day if you have time to kill because the service can be a little slower. One of the male servers is also a little brusque. The breakfast options are a little unimaginative, though they are very stereotypically German. Think bread, meat, cheese, and smoked salmon. I did like, however, how the menu was printed in a newspaper format and how each dish's name had a German fairy tale theme. I had Der Froschkönig, which consisted of smoked salmon, trout, eggs with caviar, olives, butter, bread, and a glass of orange juice for €8.90. It was nice that the orange juice was included, but I still felt like it wasn't very filling for what I paid -- it was basically a generous amount of smoked salmon, a single hardboiled egg, and a few pieces of fruit. But what's more disappointing is the fact that the restaurant is open until midnight, but the dinner menu is pretty much barren. There must've only been about five or six options when I went there for dinner last week. I had Omas Hühnersuppe -- it certainly hit the spot on such a cold winter's night but my grandma's chicken soup is packed to the brim with ingredients unlike Café Bilderbuch's version. It was, however, only €6.90 (which was actually cheaper than my breakfast!) but the dinner menu leaves a lot to be desired. While you might miss out on some of the live piano nights, I'd only recommend this place for brunch if you'd like to get a taste of a typical German breakfast and typical German customer service.

The coffee was ok. Ok as in "to prepare it like this I would've just done it in my house". Not an offense but not really what we would expect from a place with those prices. With the exception of the particular waitress that serviced me, the rest of the staff stroke me as impatient and borderline rude. I had a terrible experience.
