The inside is homey, with a lot of little things hung around to look at. The single waitress running the lunch hour was delightful. She worked quickly and never skipped a beat. You could tell the other patrons here were regulars, since I didn't even hear them place an order, but their lunch was set down in front of them. The special board had great deals. The baskets came with fries and slaw, for $7.99. Great deal. This place is known for their hotdogs and burgers, but I wasn't in the mood for that, next time! I opted for the chicken wing wrap with no sides. It was SO fresh. It was filled with crispy chicken bites coated in a really good buffalo sauce, lettuce, tomato and blue cheese. I really enjoyed it. The wrap itself was super good and soft and fresh as well. The meal was quick, cheap and homey. I'll certainly be back next time I forget lunch at work.

The restaurant manager was quick to remove our meal charge and went as far to comp our drinks with nothing but an apology. Food.....our fries were cold and my burger was missing add ons. The explanation was they were working with a new chef who was in training. My response to that is, no excuse for cold food and apparently nobody is double checking the food being put out. On a snowy day, I decided to go out to lunch and try this little Japanese spot in a small town near my job. It was nice to find the place about half full for lunch. It is a small place, about 12 tables, but it was nice inside. I sat near the sushi bar. I was a little skeptical of the sushi, even though I had already heard good reviews. Once I entered and saw some rolls coming out, I decided to go for it. The sushi chef was focused and hard working the entire 45 minutes I dined here, and everything was looking pretty good. I ordered the Sashimi Lunch Box ($12.95). This came with a starter soup and salad, 6 pieces of sashimi, a California roll, 3 gyoza, and white rice. Everything was fresh, well done, flavorful. My soup could have been hotter, but I ate it right up anyways. It was all good - and a great deal. I was so pleasantly surprised by this place. It's not the best sushi I have had, but It's the best lunch place I've tried between Gloversville and Johnstown by a long shot. I will no doubt return here for another lunch! When we opened our (unfortunately styrofoam) boxes at home, each sandwich featured a pile of raw onions. The pulled pork was very sweet and had a bit of a spicy bite. Hubby enjoyed the big piles of fries on the side. The Pines' menu relies heavily on fried and cheesy foods. More healthful entrees and appetizers would be much appreciated. We'd love to see the addition of organic, locally sourced food products. We're looking forward to dining on the deck when weather permits, as the golf course provides a scenic backdrop to a relaxed meal.
