This school has changed for the worse. Two of my children…read moreattended here and I have really mixed reviews. There's definitely a lack of communication at this school not with the teachers but office staff. Mrs Patel is extremely nice and always pleasant however holding students from graduation and participating in activities is wrong as well as not including my daughter in any of the year books all 3 years attending she's a nice girl and good student who worked hard to complete her credits to graduate she did it Dec 13 2024 and suppose to walk may 2025. However they held her cap and gown her tickets to grad made me go to battle ground to help her get what's she earned this is supposed to be the happiest time ever for this girl . They waited 5 months to call us and to say wait you forgot two exams and you have to take both in two hours in Hillsborough county at Brandon high school we live in Pasco county and I work in Pasco we just moved . I took her she completed both and passed them she is smart . She took her entrance exam for college to and passed with good scores .She went to practice for graduation and was told to leave she didn't have a paper she left crying I went 5 times to get the tickets in the office for graduation for them to tell me we need a meeting why she didn't show up for practice at the expo hall we definitely was there and probably 15 students she was speaking to can confirm that fact , that's 2 days before graduation to offer the family tickets to get off of work like 24 hr notice . Nice right !!! And that same little one more go around Tuesday morning the poor kid has to get 4 wisdom teeth out but first this last battle to walk horrible. It was nothing like this for me when I graduated Gary Adult high School they were amazing and wonderful people adult Education was a great experience for me . People who really wanna see you achieve and reach your goals

As a current student of Wharton Highschool (really only because i have nowhere else close by i can…read morego to) I can say that, from experience, Wharton is a terrible highschool. They genuinely run this school like a prison in concept. I have very bad social anxiety, general anxiety disorder, diagnosed depression, and possible adhd (currently getting tested) and out of every one I know that works there, only 2 teachers have ever actually helped me. My former English Honors teacher- Kelly Creel; and the new band director- Marques Rudd. Administration generally just lets me have panic attacks wherever, while accusing me of skipping. Or, if i'm able to make it to the nurses office just gawk at me like I have 4 heads. Obviously, I don't expect that everyone should have to take care of me while having a panic attack. I'm well aware that i should try to calm myself down from them, but they also shouldn't just stand there, or yell at me, or leave in a room to my volition. I see a lot of things wrong with that- especially since i was on school watch for s**cidal ideation just 4 or 5 months ago and to my knowledge still am. Aside from this, Teachers have said nasty things to me mainly about my struggles with school. My former Biology teacher, Mary Johnson, who is well know around the school for being racist and just generally terrible with teaching and helping kids once said to me "You should just be homeschooled at this point." after i explained to her that because of my lack of ability to focus its better for me to be in a school environment. The school also really struggles with any form of communication. Before the beginning of this school year, I got my schedule and could not figure out if i had a math class or not. It's required that i have 4 credits in each core class (Eng, History, Math, & Science) And i called the school about 10 times getting either a "talk to your guidance counselor" or a voicemail. I'm still waiting on my guidance counselor to email me back from February of last school year. He didn't respond. Had to just wing it first day of school and hope and prey I had a math class. Luckily I did, but when it's required for me to have a class to graduate you'd figure they'd take some sense of urgency with just checking to make sure I do. Furthermore, I am pre-diabetic and I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). Because of this I have to use the bathroom a lot and am prone to UTIs. The bathrooms are locked almost every period besides in passing and 4th period (the designated lunch period). They've been getting better with this but still only have one bathroom for each gender open at a time and even then, it's locked more than not. I've had to go home more than once because a teacher or sub wouldn't let me change my pad or go to the bathroom. I have a doctors note on file that allows me to use the bathroom whenever I need to and still no one honors it. This is getting lengthy so I'll stop it here but Im serious when I say if I had any other option i'd leave immediately.
