As a single mother of four children, I relied on this program so I could work and provide for my family. My children did not have behavioral or disciplinary issues, but our experience with an instructor named Zay was extremely difficult. I felt that my children and I were discriminated against and treated unfairly.. Zay repeatedly made accusations about my children and me, and he removed my children from the program multiple times ,sometimes for the rest of the day and sometimes for an entire week, without giving me enough notice or time to arrange childcare. This created a serious hardship for my family and affected my ability to work. One time , There was also an incident when there was a major accident on the road, causing road closures and delays for many families. The school and parents were aware of the situation, and many parents arrived late that day because of the accident. Even under those circumstances, Zay required me to sign a late slip and pay a late fee. I contacted the HOST administration to explain my concerns and ask for support, but no one returned my calls or followed up with me. I felt that my concerns were ignored. The situation became so difficult that I had to move out of my home and transfer my children to another school because I could no longer depend on the program for reliable childcare and wanted my children to be in an environment where they felt supported and treated fairly. I hope the HOST program takes concerns like mine seriously and improves communication, accountability, and the way families are treated.
