honestly don't even know where to start, but I feel like I have to say something…read more My son hasn't been the best student, I admit that. But that does NOT mean he should be treated the way he's being treated. That's not a reason to basically punish a kid instead of helping him. I've emailed teachers, staff, even the principal, and nothing really gets resolved. Either they don't answer or they just say "everything is on Canvas" and that's it. But the way every teacher has their assignments set up is confusing. It's not clear, and even with a tutor it's been hard to figure out what he actually needs to do. On top of that, my son had a serious accident and needed emergency surgery. He was in bed for about a month. When he came back, he started doing his work, even if it was late for obvious reasons, and instead of working with him, a lot of teachers just refused to accept it. So instead of support, he just gets punished more. There were even assignments sitting at the front desk for about a month that were NEVER given to me, even though I pick him up every single day. Now they're saying he didn't do them and marking everything missing, and not giving him a chance to make it up. That's not fair at all. Also, I'm going to be honest, it does feel like some students get treated differently. Whether it's bias, attitude, or something else, you can tell. And as a parent, that's very frustrating. Some teachers are amazing and actually try to help, and I appreciate them. But most of the experience has not been like that. I have proof of everything. If my son ends up failing because of this situation, I will take this further, because this is not okay.

LOL! Multiple teachers would not allow my daughter to use the restroom throughout the day, which I might add, is illegal. None of the teachers at the school care about the wellbeing of the students and only care about making their slim to none paycheck. None of the teachers ever responded to me as a parent in a timely matter. For instance, it took 3 weeks for one to get back to me. The environment these children are fostered in throughout their tween years is detrimental to their health. Don't make the same mistake I did.

I HIGHLY recommend having a lawyer on speed dial if your child attends this school!…read more Especially to ensure accurate and unbiased records are being kept. Accountability is elusive and paper trials are carefully curated with precision to shield the administration from scrutiny. Expect a tightly controlled narrative that (conveniently) omits key context, concerns, and evidence provided from the student/parent. Don't believe me? Ask to review official records. Unfortunately, you cannot assume good faith. Decisions affecting student outcomes can be made without transparency, communication, or compassion. Critical meetings are rushed, imbalanced and tightly controlled - leaving families outnumbered, and little to no room for true advocacy or protection. In my experience, they have documented exaggerated or false claims in official records, denied parents access to Zoom recordings of key meetings, and more. If you believe the school district will act as an unbiased party, don't be fooled. They rely solely on the school's internal narrative- ignoring concerns brought by parents or students altogether. In my case, legal safeguards were sidestepped entirely to reach a predetermined outcome. Transparency and fairness? Nowhere to be found. Unless your child has a very strong adult advocate, they may have no real shot at justice within these walls. I urge any parent (especially those with an IEP, 504, or any emotional/behavioral challenges) to bring third-party advocates and legal counsel to any meetings. Record all communications and request everything in writing. At this school, documentation is weaponized, not used as a safeguard. And without legal eyes on every detail, children easily become the scapegoat for the school and system's failures.

Don't get me wrong, I really loved this school and everything was fine till my very last year. Some teachers don't even deserve to teach. However, there were some teachers that loved what they did and I actually got to learn something from them. If I go into details of everything that happened while I attended, it'll be never ending stories. So let just say I had good and bad things happened. The good thing is that I graduated before they installed cameras and locked gates so that anyone who was in couldn't get out, lol. The bad is that we were on lockdown several times for firearm incident. Scariest moments of my life! The second bad news is that all the kids from Leto high school transferred to Alonso and made this a bad school. I'm just happy I got to be in Alonso before it got worst. This school had potential, not so sure of it anymore. Nevertheless, I'll always be a Raven. Fly high, soar proudly!

My son is currently in 8th grade. He has been attending Carwise since 6th grade. It has offered him a safe and caring environment where he can learn and grow. He enjoys school and does not complain. He has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to take advanced courses and even high school level courses. This isn't something that private schools can easily offer because of the limitations of staff and class size (our experience). At Carwise he's in a classroom full of his peers taking advantage of the opportunity to take advanced classes. We have had the opportunity to meet with teachers and staff as well as nurse, the security officers, principal and counselors and they have all been very helpful and supportive. Having a son with a severe peanut allergy adds to the concerns of a parent and this school has been very good for our son and has put those concerns at ease. Our son also got involved in a team sport. It was fun and challenging. When we enrolled our son it was B rated. It has been an A rated school since. I do wish the car line moved faster. It lags and this is a minor drawback.

There are many Pros and Cons about this school as I'm sure there are with any school. Personally, we have had some ups and downs at this school that have left me feeling a bit off put by it. (But that was our personal exp) There is a mixture of teachers. Some are EXCELLENT! If you are lucky enough to get one of these thank your lucky stars. If not, hold on for a bumpy school year. The ones who really care about education and not just having a pay check are the ones that shine at this school. And sadly are not the ones usually recognized either. The office staff for the most part are wonderful! There are a few you'd like to bop on the head. Mostly helpful and polite. There is usually a volunteer in the front office helping out as well. There is a full time nurse in site who takes care of everything medically related. The school is clean, like any place in Florida there are bugs but not from dirt. They repaint it the same ole boring colours of cream and turquoise. But the district only allows for a choice between two colours. There is a gym/cafeteria/auditorium. There is a huge back PE area. Field, court and playground. All is fenced in and locked up when school is in. The only way you can get in is through the front office with an ID in hand. There is a library, which is always in need of gently used books. There is a media center and a computer lab. There is no pre-school offered but there are special needs ISD classes. Limited parking in three lots. One of them is mainly teacher parking off to the side of the school. One of front and one in the back by the car circle. You can come have lunch with your kiddo which is pretty cool and they are always looking for volunteers for various things.

The administration can be helpful, maybe some more seminars could be helpful to update them on new tactics for the classroom as well as behavior issues. Loved coming here daily and seeing the smiles on those kids faces. Most parents are actively involved in the classroom or if not, keep in touch with teachers. Beautiful school that is kept safe and secure.
