Dotty's is a casino/bar/deli all rolled up in one. I had to ask the bartender/cook what Dotty's is because from the outside it is hard to even tell. The bartender/cook/host said that Dotty's is a place for house wives to come and play video poker, get something to drink and have some food in a safe environment. That was the original idea of Dotty's but since then it serves everyone in the community. I asked if it was a bar, which he said no, it's a video casino/deli it just recently started servicing mixed drinks but has always had beer and wine. For me is a hidden jewel within a strip mall. I originally went in to purchase a lottery ticket (no it did not win) but I did win by finding this interesting place. Dotty's hours are, 7am till 1:30am S-Thr and 7am till 2:30am Fri and Sat. I did ask why only till 1:30am Sun-Thrs and it is because they don't have a lot of business those days but pretty happening on the weekend. Got to love the place.

Let me preface this by saying that I understand how careful anyone selling alcohol must be in order to satisfy OLCC regulations. In no way am I angry with the cashier I interacted with tonight, but I do feel some education is in order. I am the 26 year old spouse of an Iraq War veteran, and I was originally licensed to drive in the state of Washington. When I got married, I got a new license from said state that reads "military" in the expiration line. This is to ensure that military personnel and their dependants are not required to change their license every time they PCS (moving due to military orders); my license is valid until 90 days after my husband is discharged from the military, or we divorce. The cashier was uncomfortable with the license, as he had never seen one like this before. I went back out to my car and brought him my military ID, which had expired 12 days ago. I am not renewing it, due to an impending divorce. He then turned me away because he said I did not have valid ID. My license itself is valid, on its own. The embarrassment I felt could have been easily avoided, had he done a quick Google search (which I did as soon as I got back in my car; this screenshot was the second link that came up, and it is from an official government site). Maybe I'm being overly sensitive, as I'm tired after a 12 hour shift at work and the emotional roller coaster of a heartbreaking separation from my husband with severe PTSD. But, I do hope this cashier will see this review and will know for next time he encounters this type of ID; the person you turned away was legitimate. Now, I'll go home and have a beer there, instead.

    Very chill

Teresa was very rude. All I asked for was a glass of water. Very unprofessional. She should've fired!

To be honest, they're an even better place to play than the casinos in the area. Their tournaments have better structures, generally more players, and lower rakes than the under $150 buy-in tournaments at any of the casinos I've visited in Oregon and Washington. As a tournament fan I've visited almost all of them over the years, so I was pretty surprised to find the best overall deal right here in Portland. They compare easily with Reno or smaller Vegas casinos. Their ambitious schedule and variety of buy-ins (From $30 up) means that you should be able to find something to your liking pretty easily, so long as you're looking to play Hold-em. They have yet to offer any PLO tournaments, although they do offer some PLO8. The staff keeps the place running smooth and generally conflict-free. While there are the occasional blow-ups and arguments, it's nothing out of the ordinary and the floor employees will quickly calm things down when needed. The snack and beverage prices are very reasonable, with a waitress who walks around the room so you don't have to get up and miss a hand. While you're not going to get a Venetian-style experience (My biggest complaint is their lack of antes) I've found the best overall poker in town at the Player's Palace.

The service is consistently rude, cold, and unprofessional. It's the same group every time, and nothing ever improves. There's no sense of customer service. Just short attitudes and a clear vibe that they don't want to be there or deal with people. On my most recent visit, I had an issue where my phone number was entered incorrectly. When I pointed it out, instead of simply fixing it, the response I got was irritation and attitude. Like I was the problem for asking them to correct their own mistake. That kind of interaction is unacceptable anywhere, especially in a place that markets itself as family-friendly. At this point, it's not a one-off, it's a pattern. When multiple visits consistently come with the same poor experience, it reflects a bigger issue with management and expectations. We enjoy bringing our kids here, but the ongoing lack of basic professionalism from the bar staff and the wait staff in the bowling alley, is seriously dragging down the experience. It shouldn't be this hard to get decent service. We all know it all starts at the top.

I was a little put off by the taxidermied animals around the venue and some of the processes felt a bit overly complicated. For example: we had gift cards and were told we had to go to the front desk to combine them then we had to go to one of the kiosks to transfer that card for a game card. Also, for bowling, I went to the check-in desk and was told I had to sign up using the QR code and then check back with the desk employee after registering on my phone (a process that was all the more complicated by the fact that I had bad service there but they did have free WiFi). All that said, still had a pretty decent time.

For just $23/day with in-and-out privileges, you can play unlimited games to your heart's content. With over 690 games and growing, wall-to-wall memorabilia and signed photos, and everything from childhood classics to newer titles -- they've got it all. And if you're a pinball wizard, this is absolutely your place. Hours are 10am to 9pm with plenty of parking. Getting hungry mid-session? No problem. You can bring your own food or grab something from their outdoor food carts -- hot dogs, pizza, you name it. There are also restaurants nearby, and with in-and-out privileges, you'll definitely want to take a break and refuel before diving back in. They even have a party room available for birthday parties or corporate events. And don't overlook the bathrooms -- yes, the bathrooms -- because the memorabilia continues in there too! Fair warning: I was so obsessed that I played all day long... and woke up the next morning with seriously sore hands. Totally worth it. Pro tip -- bring a friend or partner, because the two-player games are even more fun, and some games like Mario Kart let you race four or more players at once. I still can't believe they had all my favorites from the 1980s: Pac-Man, Asteroids, Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros., Joust, Star Wars, BurgerTime, Rampage, Moon Patrol -- and so much more. Also, make sure to sign up for their club -- members get in for $20 on Thursdays, and your 10th visit is completely free. I'd give this place 10 stars out of 5 if I could. It's one of the most amazing arcades I've ever been to, and you absolutely will not regret going.
