The ambiance is always clean and so are the bathrooms. I was showing homes to people from out of town and i was happy to show them a Sacramento and Yolo county favorite for fast Mexican food. Everything was great but I would love this place, if there was more connection from the servers. My 2 favorite dishes to get from this restaurant are the Santa Fe nachos and the bean burrito. That's the only reason why I gave 4/5 stars

I rarely give bad reviews but honestly... this was the worst food I've eaten in Davis. I would avoid this place at all costs. The salsas were obviously old, bitter, flavorless, and one of them tasted like literal sugar water (green). The steak was extremely rubbery and flavorless. The chicken tasted like nothing. The shrimp was extremely sweet for some reason??? The beans and margarita bought this place 1 star. The nice staff barely increased it to 2 stars. Everything else was a disappointment. :(

I had these tacos catered to me while at an event. Chicken Taco - 5/10 Had pico, cheese, lettuce, and tomatillo sauce. The salsa verde was weirdly sweet, which I didn't like. Other than that the chicken was super juicy and tasty. Steak Taco - 6/10 Came with the same stuff. Steak was nice and juicy, but the tomatillo sauce ruined it again, do not get the tomatillo sauce.

I've been eating at this location since high school, so we're talking 20 years of customer loyalty. The restaurant is incredibly consistent in term of quality, and that is saying something. Some may not appreciate the unchanging menu, but I love that I can always count on my regular favorites, but I also enjoy trying their seasonal items as well. My go-to these days is the Howlin Tostada, and though the price has inflated the portions never have. I can usually get 3 meals out of this salad, and I love the beans it is served with. I'm also very picky about my iced tea, and I love the black tea they serve. I've now been to New Mexico and can totally appreciate the theming of the restaurant, which gives big Albuquerque and Santa Fe vibes. There's lots of hard surfaces, so when it is full it can be quite noisy, but other than that the interior offers plenty of seating options, self-service beverages, and the crown jewel: their salsa bar. The sweet tomatillo salsa is my favorite and I have never found anything like it at another tex-mex restaurant. As mentioned, though the restaurant has mostly unchanged in 20 years, one area that had changed a lot are the prices. Some items I feel are no longer justified, like the Border Burrito, which I used to enjoy with chips and salsa for well under $10 in college. However, I do think the portions on some items are still generous despite the increased cost, like the aforementioned salad. If you are willing to go for authentic Mexican rather than Tex-Mex, there are lots of restaurants nearby that offer the same quality food or better for far less. 4 stars since the restaurant is not a great value anymore.

This review is for our neighbourhood Dos Coyotes on Covell Blvd. We have been regulars here for five years. We love the food; the friendly people who work here; the salsa bar, and the charming patio. Our two rescue Miniature Pinschers, Max & Margo love Dos Coyotes as much as we do. Yesterday, Evelyn, the lovely employee who took our order, brought out a bowl of water for our pups and couldn't have been for charming and welcoming. Definitely deserves a raise. We feel most fortunate to have Dos Coyotes in our community. It's our go-to neighbourhood cafe.

My burrito (not kid size) was extremely small... now I'm still hungry and sad

My burrito was smaller than this 16oz can now I'm still hungry and quite sad... all in it was $16 for just this...

Incredible food, but the margarita was teeny tiny! The great tasting salsa was almost enough to make up for it, but not quite.

Love the boarder chicken burrito. It's also really good the next day bc they are sometimes too much to eat in one sitting.

Always yummy but it's no way near being Mexican food, super Americanized and lacking the flavors of great food.

Their tomatilla salsa is what keeps me coming back to this place. It's especially good atop the spicy shrimp burrito.

The drinks and quesadilla were good, but the bread was slightly too dry. Some parts were slightly stale. But I'm eager to try the paella!

Cheapish eats, chip and salsa bar, quick and fresh food. There is both indoor seating and outdoor seating and it's located on the cutest street. The fish and shrimp tacos were great and filling, topped with so much crunchy cabbage, hiding the protein, but it was there. The flautas were delicious and the steak tacos had big, juicy bites of steak. The guac was weak (not an order but what came with flautas). It was more of a thick avocado salsa. Props to the great beer options - with some local varieties from Davis. We went when school was out for summer and it was still quite busy for dinner. I imagine during school days, it's packed. I loved the quesabirria taco, which came with consommé and my Aggie taco was ok. The Aggie had so much cabbage my friend asked me if there was any fish inside. The blue corn tortilla on the Aggie taco was a nice touch since it's one of UC Davis' school colors. The service was great; everyone was friendly and I liked that they cleared away our empty plates often. I also love that they have a complimentary chips and salsa bar. This place is obviously popular- the turnover time was fast and still more people were coming through the door when we left. Thanks and I'm looking forward to returning for brunch!

My favorite thing about lunch today (5/7/26) was the service. The food was good, but the service was excellent. Upon arrival, my first time here I peered into the interior of the restaurant to see if my relative had arrived. I was immediately greeted by a very nice young man behind the counter. I exited the building and sat down at one of their exterior tables so my cousin could easily spot me, and the same very nice young man came out and brought me a menu to review while I was waiting for my cousin to arrive. Once she arrived, we went inside and ordered our meals, and returned to their outside seating. They have an open chips and salsa bar which was great as we waited for our meals. A short while later, another nice young man (with braids) came out to clear the table and offer drink refills. They were both very kind, accommodating and engaging. It's very nice to have great customer service from these gentlemen. We had a lovely lunch, and I would return.
