I have left a review about 1 year ago... I have gone a few more times and same great service. Ken is a loud mouth, but so am in Ken asks lots of questions..to make sure he understands the problem. He will not fix something-if he feels you will waste your money, because you don't need it done! I have another car now-and today I'm doing the engine restore kit. That gets ride of fuel injection issues. Power Idol Sluggish It will clean the fuel injection really well. I looked at all the reviews, in 8 years-there has been 3 people that left silly comments, the rest are all five stars!! Thanks so much to Ken and Finn, and the rest, thanks for all your great work. The serpentine belt on my car strangely disappeared. My tow truck driver suggested I drop it at Dorsey's. It was after hours, so I just left my car in front, dropped my keys in their drop box and couldn't leave any contact information. When I came back the next morning at 8:00 AM, my car was already in the shop, hood popped, problem diagnosed! They wasted no time and started working on my car without having any idea what the issue was or who dropped it off! Ken (the main guy, I think) was beyond friendly and very thoughtful. He asked if I was traveling (yes) and promptly ordered the necessary part and had my car finished in an hour and a half! He was super busy, cars everywhere, but still squeezed me in. Price was extremely reasonable. It was so thoughtful that he considered that I was traveling, had just spent the night in Ukiah since my car broke down, and promptly fixed it. Absolutely love doing business with Ken Dorsey! He does solid work at a good price and will even teach you things about your vehicle if you are respectful and open to learning. I've taken several vehicles to him but most recently I had him check over a used truck I had just bought and he showed me how to reprogram the automatic door locks at no extra charge. Honest, friendly mechanic, fair price. My alternator went out on the Thursday before Memorial Day Weekend at around 4PM with a business trip planned for that following Tuesday. It was the makings of a potential nightmare scenario. Nonetheless, I recalled the one place in town I'd heard recommended by friends and had my car towed to the Dorsey's. Within minutes, the part was ordered for delivery the following morning. I get the call at 10AM saying my car is ready to go. The final charge was exactly as quoted. We had a battery light come and stopped in Ukiah to have it fixed. We took our car to Dorsey's on the recommendation of another shop because that shop couldn't help us til next week and we were travelling. Dorsey's owner helped us out right away, and determined it was either a 6 year old battery or the original alternator on a 17 year old car. We tried the battery first, then added the new alternator. We were on our way in under 2 hours. Ukiah is very lucky to have this business in town. read more

Totally awful. These people are the biggest scammers in Ukiah. Just ask a few locals that actually live here. I don't know who they get to fill out these reviews but KEN the guy that runs Is a total jerk with an attitude. They will rip you off destroy your vehicle and then charge you for it. Good mechanics cannot make up for rude behavior by the manager. The cost of competent mechanics here is disrespectful, condescending treatment by the manager. You might tolerate it in a pinch, but you won't want to make a regular diet of it. read more

Alternator busted late night and Ukiah was the closest town for hotel and auto services. Was recommended to call Dorsey's. I have never had faster service at such a reasonable price. My family and I went camping and out of the Forrest but near civilization our vehicle broke down on a Sunday. First thing Monday we took it to Dorseys auto repair and our timing belt had slipped off. I had that very thing worked on in Oakland and they organized a tow back to Oakland for the warranty work so I would to save me money and time. They were booked solid but still had time to help. They couldn't completely fix my issue, but they gave me a printed detail of what was wrong and said I needed to go to the dealership with the proper computer system to reset something; but they made the problem so much better, I have been able to drive for months still with only slight issue. This is a great shop!!!! I feel so confident my car is in good hands and they will never have you do anything you don't need to your car. I wanted my brakes done but he took them off and could have installed the new break pads but they where almost new so he called me and told me and just serviced cleaned and reinstalled and saved me money even know they had already when and picked up the parts. Dorsey's is the reason why I even made a yelp account. I went there yesterday because the "new" car I purchased threw a check engine light only after having it for a week! I took it to Dorsey's because I've had good experiences in the past. Ken went above and beyond for me! This has been my families mechanic for so long! All of the gentlemen here are some of the most honest and kind people I have ever met. My husband totaled his truck and Ken got our truck in next day and had the radiator replaced and us back on the road within a week.
