While $75 is absurd for 3 sandwich meals, it was the best food we've had in the area so far. We had 2 burgers and the tri-tip sandwich special, all perfectly seasoned and so good. Sandwiches come with a side of Cole slaw and we ordered a basket of fries and 3 sodas. The views are great and the food was so good but the prices are WILD for a burger from what looks like a concession stand and picnic table setup. I'm surprised so many people had negative experiences here. My friends and I came for dinner on a Saturday around 6 pm since we needed to kill some time before sunset, and this happened to be nearby. For dinner they were offering a $27-29 buffet with your choice of meat (choice of chicken, beef short ribs, Idaho red trout, or baby back ribs) and unlimited sides which included mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, beans, vegetable stew, and cornbread. I opted for the bbq beef short ribs, and while they weren't exactly bbq (it was more like a stew), the meat was incredibly tender and flavorful. Some of my friends ordered the baby back ribs and we all agreed that the bbq beef ribs were our favorites. All the sides were great as well, but sadly I had limited stomach space since I wasn't prepared for the buffet and didn't eat much of them. They have a couple of seating areas, included a large tent with shade, but we opted to sit in the giant teepee for the cooler experience. read more

Went to Moose, WY and stopped in for some lunch. I tried to check in when we got there but the cell service for AT&T stinks and there wasn't any WiFi. But on to lunch. This is an open air kitchen under a pavilion along with an open air pavilion with pick nick tables. The food we ordered took a very long time. From order time and getting #72 until the food got to our table was about 40 minuets. Too long Guys!!! The food was good and it was hot. My burger was great and the cup of chili was very good. Sara had a pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw and she said it was also very good. Points get deducted because the food took soooooo long and the people responsible for bussing the tables were not doing their job. read more

This place was recommended to me by my tour guide the previous day as well as by someone at the hotel. The view is incredible of the Tetons. Ordering and seating is all outside, they did have a tent set up to help block the wind. I got the chuck wagon breakfast with pancakes, eggs and bacon. It was pretty good-- bacon was definitely the best part. I also got a hot chocolate, probably made with water. The staff was all nice to me, brought my meal out and then brought out silverware and syrup for me so I didn't have to go back it into the wind. Restrooms were clean too. read more

We've been a couple of times and enjoyed the experience. The brisket sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich are exceptional. So are the fries! The burgers are okay but not awesome. Fun venue. Nice to sit outdoors. Staff don't appear very happy to be there but they get the job done. We asked one server for forks (there were none) and she just looked at us and walked away without a word. Given that staff experience, don't bother tipping. I won't do so here again. read more

Don't do it. Just keep going to Jackson or wherever your final destination is located to find food. If you are like us and were surprised to discover the Jackson Hole airport has no food, then you might have ventured out here to find some grub. The teepee is cute. It looks like a little town and they have a couple of food options. The chuckwagon cast irons look picturesque, and they even offer alcoholic slushies. The Tetons in the background make great photo opps. But then you order. You watch them take the meat entrée out of a warming bin. You start to wonder how long it has been there. They douse the meat in oil and bbq sauce and warm it back up or lightly char it. Then you go to the cast iron vats and the food suddenly doesn't look as appealing. Really now, how long has this food been out? In the end, it didn't taste bad and no one got sick, but I would only return in an emergency or to use the atm. read more

Decided to eat here while in town with our family. This place was recommended for its chuckwagon buffet style dinner & the amazing views. Upon looking at the menu they give you a choice of 3 proteins along with several side dishes and the salad bar. The prices were quite high, but we were willing to give it a try. First thing they did was hand us a pile of dirty plates, which made us leery of what was to come. The salad bar was a disaster area & unattended. Empty bottles of dressing & they ran out of corn bread. We moved on and saw 4 large sloppy kettles filled with side dishes which were not marked and you grabbed the large spoons to serve yourself. No one there to help, answer questions, or keep it tidy. The options were smashed potatoes, some sort of beans, corn on the cob & beef stew. The beans & potatoes we're flavorless, corn was mushy & beef stew was just mediocre. We felt like the side items offered were cheap, but would have been acceptable if they tasted better. When we got to the end of the line to get our main dish we were greeted by a young man who was extremely flustered & could not keep up with the flow of guests coming up to get their food. He kept apologizing, and we felt bad that there was no one there to help him. So all of us just stood there and waited while our side dishes went cold. There was a tiny piece of chicken offered, ribs that were cold & trout cooked in a butter bath. Out of the 3, choices the trout was over cooked, but at least had some flavor. Overall after paying their over inflated prices we felt a bit ripped off and would not recommend this place to anyone. Seems like the place was being run by a bunch of teens & the only adult we saw was running the bar area. It was disorganized and desperately needed some proper "adult" management. It was a real shame because this place could really be something special if they just step up the menu & properly manage the cleanliness & service. A suggestion for continuing a good food experience - upgrade the pathway to the bathrooms and the bathrooms themselves. My wife nearly twisted her ankle by stepping in a hole while headed over there. Had mixed experience here. This is rustic outdoor dinning. Known for their slow cooked pulled pork sandwiches. The kitchen staff is slow to fill orders but the pulled pork itself was good. This is the squarest 4 I've ever given. Never a 5, as long as they serve the three-star food I had experienced at such premium prices. Quite the anomaly: this enterprising monopoly of commerce staked firmly within the boundaries of a national park. You'd think the Dornan's would capitalize upon the location cheat codes they have so cunningly activated, and thusly deliver a spectacular product as a fitting homage to the location gods. You'd be wrong. What is found within is sadly pure capitalization, being nearly all stick and no carrot. You can nearly smell the money being counted. The food at the Chuckwagon is sub-par in the kindest of light - teetering onto abysmal. I ordered the $15 Bison burger - with it's superlatively "generous" handful of Ruffles Potato Chips to accompany. I also bargained to try a bowl of their chili - I've won contests in chili, so I had to try it. Of the most remarkably delicious and charismatic Bison burgers throughout Colorado that I've had, I can attest that this did not join those ranks. This burger has more in common with a Sam's Club frozen patty than any of the great - cheaper, mind you - Bison I've had. It's a real shame they're using Bison, because it tasted like cheap, unseasoned beef. Near flavorless, I was taken aback by the way it looked versus how it tasted. Dry and lifeless - instead of rich and flavorful. Here's a hint: don't cook it so long, put a pad of butter on it when done, and grill some yellow tomatoes to top it with. Trust me. The Chili was quite literally abysmal. I could not finish the small cup-sized bowl. At a $2 substitution charge levied to option for something other than the greasy handful of bagged ruffles they generously provide, I assure you, the reader, that the lion's share of your $2 goes directly towards replenishing their chili powder reserves. Of substance in that bowl, I can further attest that 2/3 of what was in my bowl was purely chili powder and water; the rest was pinto beans, and an indistinguishable meat product. It was bitter, sour, and spicy to a fault. I added a packet of sugar to assist with consumption, and it did nothing. Quite possibly the most seasoning-dense and terrible bowl of chili I have ever had. Let me do you a favor, Dornan's: quit making this item. Buy Hormel's Chili, and add two kinds of canned beans to make it more original. The money is what you're about, and this should maximize it further. The final star is gleaned from the timeless backdrop, and is the only reason I spent $18 on a bland burger and a bowl of wetted chili powder. Their dining tables sit just underneath the Grand Teton mountain, which makes for a wonderful lunch no matter the substance. How tragic, that with more than half the battle won, Dornan's shirks the constant flow of free foot traffic, and participates in the money grab like all the other vagabonds outlying the great American road trip. What a wonderful letdown to behold - the "city of Dornan". So much potential. Their Ice Cream cart across the way - assuredly stocked by blue bunny or something - was surprisingly excellent. It's a good value, and the most refreshing of items. I got a two-scoop Huckleberry and Mint in a cone, and we're still talking about it. Maybe it was just the scenery, but what an ice cream - and at under $4 as well. I'm sure it will be going up however. C'est La Vie! read more

What a disappointing experience. We are locals and came to enjoy the Monday night Hootenanny at dornan's. The chuckwagon only served sandwiches and were out of half their menu (brisket, pulled pork, bacon, and avocados. There was no soap in the ladies restroom. There were numerous dogs there even though it's in the national park and dogs are not allowed further than the parking lot. When I spoke to an employee who was petting her friend's loose German shepherd who peed next to the ordering line, I was told that she works there and had spoken to her boss about having a loose dog running around the chuckwagon, and that she said it was ok (which I doubt because again, we are in Grand Teton National Park). That dog was not leashed, wandered and begged food from people for two hours. Why are the rules posted on both entrances of the chuckwagon not enforced? Such a shame that a business in the park would let their employees blatantly break the rules. read more

I wasted an hour of my time and $7 worth of gas going to this place from Jackson, only to be told they wouldn't serve me because I had my dog with me. The signs very clearly said no dogs allowed so this would be understandable if I hadn't CALLED AHEAD to ask if I could eat with my dog. I was told 'it wouldn't be a problem.' There was no sympathy from the staff when I explained it. I asked if I could eat at the outside picnic table in the corner of the yard away from everyone and they re-explained that the signs very clearly say 'no pets'. I responded the sign was hard to read 15 miles away in Jackson Wyoming. I'm eating at MacPhails in Jackson, because they will allow me to eat outside with my dog. read more

This restaurant has a very unique environment. The mountainous view is amazing. The seating and service is all outdoors. The staff was not friendly, but rather professional and cordial. You have your order taken at the register and then find a seat with your order number table tent. Drinks are self serve, as well as utensils and condiments. We ate during breakfast. Most impressively, they were very accomodating to special dietary needs. I had the kids Little Buckaroo plate, my friend, the Wagon Wheel plate. The food was delicious. I had chosen sausage and received bacon with my order, but once brought to their attention the staff was quick to correct the minor issue. Restrooms were moderately clean. read more

The dinner buffet style chuckwagon left a ton to be desired.For one it was maned by a bunch of inexperienced kids that can't seem to keep up with the flow. I am a local who has been going to Dornans for 30 years. The chuckwagon has gone horribly downhill with seasonal employees who do not care and managers who will not enforce their own rules. I understand the challenges of staffing in JH, but me and my wife's experience was a new low. They are allowing dogs to run unleashed begging food from strangers. Witnessed a server petting a dog and then going right back to serving without washing hands. Signs say no dogs at the entrances. Manager Gracie allowed the employees and their friends to intimidate my wife when she confronted Gracie about this. Dog poop on the back lawn. We saw a dog peeing on the posts right next to the kitchen. Used condom was hanging from the rafters for over a month before I removed it. This place has gone to the dogs. And I'm a dog lover with rescues of my own. Zero stars. Will NEVER patronize any establishment with the Dornan's name. read more

Customer service is horrible especially the cashier, she is sarcastic, loud, childish and has absolutely nothing about serving customer properly! It's almost like dealing with a child We made a special visit, after our hotel concierge had recommended for lunch, it was a mistake, should have eaten in town. Rest of the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. All we heard during our meal was her screening and annoying voice! Food was nothing to write home about, but acceptable.
