I see some positive reviews now though so I'm wondering if the quality got better. I may try again.

Below is the email I sent to Black Rose…read more I am so disappointed in the care you took with my cake order. A cake that was meant to celebrate my son's wedding day. The cake was scheduled to be delivered at 12:00. I had to take time from my family to call and inquire about the delivery at 1:15. When the cake was cut it had obviously been frozen as the butter had seized and crumbled when cut. This beautifully decorated and tasty cake presented as a complete mess. When the bride and groom cut the cake, chunks of frosting fell away. Ruined our pictures completely. We won't look at those pictures and remember that the cake tasted good, but what a let-down you provided for us. I am incredibly frustrated and will never trust you to make a special occasion dessert for me again.

The underlying donut was somewhat firm (a minus) and cool to the touch (a minus)-- most likely refrigerated, as this was a late spring visit on a warm day. Bready, briochy taste to the donut, with no sweetness (neither plus nor minus), letting the toppings and fillings handle that. Plenty of yellow vanilla pudding inside (a plus for quantity). No seating inside (a minus) but a single metal table outside that looks like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks (big minus). Filled with pollen. I do like the selection (big plus) and the crazy flavors will appeal to a wide range of tastes, but there are places where you can still get a fresh donut and sometimes even a warm one. Rocco's doesn't seem to be one of them. Not bad by any means but not screaming out for a revisit.

Do you have a little girl who loves everything pink? If yes, you need to bring your little girl here ASAP! Just the pictures opportunities is enough for me to make the one hour drive if I were to venture into the area again. There is big bright pink feathers wings and a swing covered in rose vines that the owner allowed my daughter to sit on and take pictures. There is also a rose wall for backdrop. The cakes come in beautiful packaging and are super moist. There is also chocolate covered strawberries and many other Portuguese desserts. There is also flan and surprisingly empanadas and other savory bites. Sadly, they don't serve iced coffee. But they do have hot coffee, cappuccino, lattes. The bakery is also located at the edges of Hager Pond.
