Very frustrating interaction. I called to ask if they had availability to look at my car and was told I could bring it by for a scan. When I asked how far out the repairs would be I was told he could do a scan right away. He asked when I would bring it in for a scan and I told him I was going to call around and see if anyone could get me in for repairs. At that point he said "ok, whatever". I hung up. We took our 2013 Diesel Mercedes ML to Dorel to fix a handful of mechanical issues that we'd delayed addressing during the pandemic. We chose him based on the large number of reviews he had from legitimate sounding customers that couldn't say enough about how honest and collaborative he was with them. This was more important than ever for us on this occasion because we knew we wanted to address all of the issues we were already aware of, as well as any other problems found in the process of repairing them. Knowing that we would essentially be giving whichever mechanic we decided to take the car to a crate blanche, it was critical that we chose a shop wisely to avoid being exploited, potentially quite badly, by someone of questionable ethics. Dorel lived up to his reputation completely, and contacted me regularly to work with me to find the most cost effective way to go about addressing the issues he found along the way - always explaining my options and offering money saving solutions. Hopefully not soon, but the next time we need work done on our Merc we'll be taking it back to Dorel. read more

Update: my first time getting work done here and I realized the hourly prices were higher than I anticipated. They showed me all my old parts, very fast and communicative. I'd still recommend them. It's $115/hr. This is my first time getting serviced by Dorel's Automotive and the mechanic's name who took care of my car was Chris. I have only good things to say about my first time here. Happy to say they've got me now as a regular! VW got an oil and oil filter change, they didn't have the filter and told me that it would take a bit longer because they were having it delivered it from O'Reilly's. When all was done, he ran the engine, checked everything out underneath for leaks and listened for anything weird, before setting my car down. I so appreciated that extra bit of care. Before having trouble with my health and hands, I have changed my own oil and filter before, so I know what a fair cost of the service should be. My final impression, the overall cost was fair, honest, and lower than his original quote so I left a very happy customer!He was courteous, notified me of the extra wait time, and checked under my car before setting it down - that's just awesome customer service! read more

I messaged Dorel a week ago on Yelp. He was one of several mechanics I requested a quote from. Not only did he respond quickly he had one of the most competitive prices. If you want an honest job with no frills this is your guy. He isn't open on the weekend, which is a bummer, but luckily he's super close to my work. Yesterday I dropped off my car, walked to work and it was done by the end of the day. Dorel even offered to pick me up to get my car. I needed my timing belt changed and he checked my engine light too. Turns out it was my O2 sensor, but I had a big oil leak that also needed attention. My car drives so much smoother now! First time went in to get B service for Mercedes. Dorel was great!, he quoted me for the service, was honest about it, and did it really fast. He also recommended other things I should do to extend life of car, but did not need to do it right now. Now, who does that? - usually mechanics want to make money and send you on your way, but not Dorel. I really did not want to write this review, because when I went to him, he had so many cars he was working on, and I did not want anyone else to go there in case I cant make an appointment. But that would not be fair to Dorel. So if your looking for an honest mechanic, looking to deal with someone who has been in the business repairing european cars for years, and like dealing with the owner directly, than this is the place. Now mind you, not the cheapest, if you are looking for the cheapest, its best you don't go here, because I definitely do not want the cheapest mechanic, two reasons - - Might stinge on parts - Might go out of business real fast. Both options would be bad.... So try him guys...but one con - not open on weekends....but hey, close to home so that's good. And if your wondering if I got paid for this review, like Amazon does, nope! - not a penny, and I don't want one either...we need honest reviews from real people. I have used Dorel for over 15 years with several of my cars. I would never use anyone else. I will never forget one of the very first times I used him, my check engine light was coming on. I am not mechanical at all and had no idea what the problem was. I took it into Dorel expecting an expensive repair because it was an older model car. He looked under the hood and after just a couple of minutes he shut the hood and said "your good to go" I was surprised and asked what I owed him? He said nothing, there was a mouse living under my hood and it chewed through an electrical wire which was causing the check engine light to come on. He connected the wire, wrapped it up with electrical tape and sent me on my way. Seriously, who does that? He has done major repairs over the years like transmissions to basic brake jobs.
