Alfons Dimpflmeier began it all, as a German breadmaster and Master Baker, he was a graduate of the famous Handelskammer in Munich. Alfons brought the art of German baking to Canada using centuries old bread recipes, he baked his rye breads in stone ovens the authentic way. All of their bread is baked fresh daily using recipes passed down from generation to generation. Note that photographs are forbidden inside the bakery. They have one counter to purchase drinks and food. Drinks include coffee, cappuccino, lattes. Bagel options are plain bagel, sesame bagel, everything bagel. Service is polite. Dimpflmeir Bakery is a marvellous sight to behold! It's a little piece of Europe in Toronto. The tantalizing smell of freshly baked bread permeates the entire bakery. It feels like being in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory of breads. Everyone should visit this place at least once in their lifetime.

This is the kind of place you go when you want to step away from overly fancy burgers and just enjoy something classic that works. I ended up trying most of the lineup, and honestly, there is not a dramatic difference between the Automatic with Cheese, Bacon Cheese Automatic, and Golden State. The builds are fairly similar, which is not a bad thing, just something to note. The standout for me was the Hotomatic with Cheese. The hot pepper slaw had more heat than expected and added a real kick between the patties that made it memorable. If I had to recommend just one, it would be either the Automatic with Cheese or the Golden State. Both are clean, balanced, and hard to mess up. My biggest obsession here is the fries cooked in beef tallow. There is something about them that instantly brings back the taste I remember from childhood. If anything, I just wish they came in a larger portion. One small letdown was the Bacon Cheese Automatic. While the burgers overall feel thoughtfully assembled, the bacon felt oddly disconnected, almost like it was added as an afterthought. Instead of blending in, it stood out with sharp saltiness and threw off the balance a bit. That said, this place does exactly what it sets out to do. Simple, nostalgic, and executed with care. I will gladly be back.

disappointment, absolute disappointment…read more I had high hopes for fab's especially after all of the media hype and craze but my sweet dreams were shattered back to back days do not believe google, this place is not even close to being open for the just over 12 hours daily (at the time of writing google is saying closed 24/7) arriving just after lunch, there was a note on the door "sold out" for the day, so I called the number on the door and asked "yeah! see you tomorrow" so, reluctantly, showed up the next day the spread was amazing, as you see in my photos, but the funniest donut I've ever seen is the pink lady, that has a red top to it, when i questioned it, I was told "yeah, like a candy apple at a local fair" does this exist as a pink option at fairs? i don't know! you had me at fritters, you really did after buying the fritters and one more additional donut here are my thoughts everyone needs to get taste buds checked ASAP the cherry fritter had zero pieces of cherry and was red in the middle, so cherry syrup? the banana Nutella fritter was worse, zero pieces of banana or taste of banana, just the taste of dough, Nutella and the donut fell apart within the first bite into multiple pieces also grabbed a cinnamon sugar donut that was decent, but tasted like a plain sugar donut with a lack of cinnamon the lady behind the counter was super great and bubbly, but service is only one part of the experience and ultimately I have better options in my neighborhood lastly as well, the space on the inside is super tiny, and absolutely not fluffy friendly

From glossy chocolate glazes to crushed cookies, swirls of Biscoff, vibrant sprinkles no, and thick layers of cream -- each donut looks like a tiny edible work of art. The full case together? Like an artist's palette you can actually eat These donuts are BIG, artisanally crafted, and absolutely packed with flavour. Dense yet surprisingly light at the same time -- that perfect balance. The cream-filled ones are airy, smooth, and sweet without being overpowerin We tried the banana fritter , Biscoff , and Oreo -- and every single one delivered on both texture and taste. Crispy edges, soft centres, rich toppings... no notes. Just pure donut happiness. If you're in Toronto's west end, this is a must-visit spot for serious donut lovers

And since I love anything ube, I was excited to come here and try it. Let me tell you that the donuts here didn't blew me away, nothing special about them. Overall the donuts tasted dry and dense like bread. The fillings/icing/toppings were unpleasantly sweet and some have underwhelming flavour. I've tasted other vegan donuts and it doesn't even come anywhere close to Machino. I have to try these donuts to see what's the hype about them: Ube Creme Brulee Utter disappointment is what I felt upon taking my first bite of the Ube Creme Brulee donut. There is no way you can taste the ube in this donut! Artificial ube flavouring/color - a big YES, real purple ube flavour - resounding NO. Trust me I know, since I grew up eating ube and can distinguish the real taste of fresh ube vs artificial ube flavour. This donut also has a description saying ube custard but doesn't even taste like one since the filling has a thinner consistency. Classic Apple Fritter They said this donut is very popular and everyone's favourite. But I beg to differ since this is my least favourite donut. The donut has a sweet and salty flavour combination that makes the pairing less successful. It borders more on excessive saltiness that overwhelms the delicate sweet flavour of the donut. The apples in the donut were very limited and lacking the flavour you normally find in an apple fritter. Devil's Chocolate Before buying this donut, I asked the cashier if this is dark chocolate and she said yes. Shouldn't have listened to her coz this is one of the worst donuts I have tasted and there's no way this is made with dark chocolate. The combination of the cocoa glaze topping plus the chocolate cake crumbs and chocolate ganache is the worst flavour combination ever! It's nauseatingly sweet and I didn't even enjoy it. I don't even see any positive thing about this place. The store is small, it's just a takeaway place and designed for customers to grab their donuts/drinks and go. I was even planning to buy coffee but quickly changed my mind when I saw nowhere to seat and enjoy the food. Service was abysmal. The Asian cashier was so unfriendly and no one is manning the front of the store. I have to wait for a while coz the staff were missing in action. After helping me, she took off again to God knows where. Another customer walks in and has to wait just like me before the cashier came in front to get her order. Way overpriced for a low quality donut. They take cash but don't accept $50 bill which is disappointing coz there's no sign anywhere in the store that says they don't accept large bills. This further cemented the fact that you should never trust influencers and be cautious of their recommendations solely because of their biased opinions. There's so many donut places to try in Toronto and I'm not giving this place a second chance after having a less than stellar experience.
