Think of Door Jamb as going to DSW: rows and rows and endless rows of shoes. That's what Door Jamb is- rows and endless rows of doors. Located on Rt 28 in Shokan, NY, Door J. worked for several reasons: we knew we were getting solid wood doors, close to home and, we were satisfied with the customer service from the get-go when we first came here to inquire. Plus Door J., has an incredible stock on salvaged doors that come directly from suppliers. They claim their doors are "either overstock, inaccurate orders, or have slight cosmetic defects, but all the products are new and structurally sound". And if you can't find your door here, one will be ordered for you. That's what we did. I love our wide pass-through living room in our new home, but we wanted to have the option of closing it off if we want to- or keeping it open. Barn-styled doors was our go-to. Chris was super helpful the first time we came here and gave us a in-depth rundown about Door J. Do know, this place does not: (1)deliver and (2)install doors- because that's on you or your contractor- if you're using one- which we did. We were also in the market for slider windows for our basement and these folks helped with that. Because Door J. is an Andersen Window distributor, we were even more ecstatic that we could have our cake and eat too by ordering our barn doors AND 5 small slider windows because they seal tightly against air, water and anything else. By far, the nicest people working in the Hudson Valley. We've been going to the Door Jamb for years, getting replacement windows for our old stone house, as well as a new build construction guest house. There was a little hiccup with our Andersen windows (not their fault at all), but they still went above and beyond to help make it right when they had nothing to do with the issue. This place is great. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by an employee who asked if I needed help. When I told him I wanted to buy a front door, he brought over one of his associates, Topher. Topher asked really good questions, and was very knowledgeable about the inventory. He showed me options, and even explained a "challenge" I had not thought of. When I asked about screened doors, he showed me options, and when those did not work, he offered to go to the warehouse to look and also presented the option of ordering me a newly made door. While I did not end up buying a door, I was REALLY impressed with the customer service at this establishment. And from what I could see, the prices seemed really good. read more

We recently moved to the Hudson Valley from California and had to do a major re-build on the place we bought. We heard Door Jamb was the place for windows & doors. When we saw the quality, selection and prices we went a little overboard re-designing for unusual shapes. Not only are they incredibly knowledgable and helpful, but Justin & Joe came out to fix a door that, it turned out, our contractor had installed badly (and lied about). We bought every door for our new house here and could not have been happier with the experience, service and follow-through. 16 doors in all -- some new, some refurbished and one built out of pieces from other doors. The Door Jamb was referred to me by a contractor who bought windows there. I had a tough door to replace. The style I wanted was unique and the big box stores did not carry it. I called The Door Jamb and Justin and his crew found what I was looking for in stock. The price was reasonable and I paid an extra $20 to have it cut to my specifications. The craftsman at the shop did a wonderful job and asked me specific questions about which way the door will face in my house. He mounted the door knob and hinges after making those cuts as well. The DoorJamb is one of my favorite businesses in the Catskills, which is weird because you don't buy that many windows and doors in your life. However, seriously, it's such a great business. If you have patience you can get incredible discounts on beautiful doors and windows for your project. I got a number of doors and window here that were SIGNIFICANTLY more affordable than new/custom quotes from major manufacturers. In addition, the woodshop at the Door Jamb can customize doors for you (e.g., cutting them to fit an odd shape or position). Justin and his entire team are incredibly helpful and professional both in person and over phone/email. My only problem is that they don't offer a delivery service and not everyone (i.e,. me) has a truck for hauling glass. However, when I was stuck, Justin helped me out and so it just reinforces what a great business they run. My review in one sentence: this is the door and window shop for people who treat cool doors and windows like vintage vinyl records. read more

Need some window operators for Anderson windows installed in 1979 - they'll get them for you. Need a decorative dead bolt (yes - they exist) they have them. There are plenty of doors and windows in stock but if they don't have what you need, they'll order for you. As if this isn't enough, the staff there is knowledgable, patient and efficient. There are a lot of customers walking around, throwing out questions, saying hello (they seem to know all of their customers!!) and yet they stay focused on the customer they're helping. Our guy Justin went above and beyond to help us with all of the parts we had to order. The order came in early and I got a call from Lisa right away telling me they were in. When I got there, Justin was helping a woman with a complicated order and again, there he was being kind, patient and knowledgable. I noticed both times that I was there that this is a busy place but a happy place and I left there with our window parts feeling happy. read more
