Sunday morning 10 am and the garage door spring breaks. Checked the Yellow Pages at yp.com and came across Door Jam. They were close and had good reviews--I took the plunge and called even though it was now 10:30 am Sunday morning. Much to my surprise my call was answered (it was 10:30 am Sunday morning) and I ask what would be the earliest date and time I could get an appointment for a repair. After giving my address, I was told he could be by in about 30 minutes--that alone blew me away. Within 30 minutes my doorbell rang - Jason had arrived just as he had promised. Replaced both springs on double door (one was broken but I told them to replace both, and while they were there I had the opener back up battery replaced on the double garage door (gave out a couple of months ago), had him replace the 3rd stall single garage door spring while he was there even though it was not broken (just a matter of preventative maintenance and the price was right), and install an infrared parking guide lite on the ceiling. All was completed professionally, it was obvious Jason was a professional and had extensive job knowledge. He was courteous, answered all my questions and took the time to thoroughly check out all working parameters of both door systems and lubricated both systems. When he left both doors were operating smoothly and quietly. All was done to my complete satisfaction and the price was quite reasonable. I will not hesitate to refer this company to anyone. On Monday morning, our door opener just died. It wasn't the power as the outlet still worked fine. But it was just dead. I figured I needed a new one and got myself mentally prepared to fork out the $$$ for a new unit. I texted a trusted neighbor as I like personal recommendations over trying to make sense out of internet review (ironic, as I'm writing this). He called me back enthusiastically that he "had a guy." He told me the anecdote that Jason (Door Jam) came over and fixed a unit that my neighbor was sure was dead. Jason had it fixed in a few minutes and told my neighbor, "if I charge you more than $20 for this, it'd be criminal." That's someone I want to work on my place! So Jason comes out and opens up MY opener motor unit, and low and behold, a wire had simply come loose! He had it back up and running in 5 min. I'm glad I had some other things for him to do, or I'd have felt really guilty about having him out for a simple 5 min fix. I had him put on new nylon rollers, and replace the weather strip on the bottom of the door that was torn. He then lubed up all the rollers, hinges, and track, as well as the cable pulleys. So it needed some TLC anyway. Door works again, but now it's almost silent and much smoother than before. This business is amazing! We had worked with them a few years ago and found them to be trusting and very professional. So when our garage door broke on Tuesday morning we called Door Jam once again and Jason was out to look at it by that afternoon. He told us all of our options and gave us the best prices he could, which turned out to be the lowest prices you can find. He was then back out the very next day installing a fantastic new garage door. Jason does everything himself and when he does need help, he relies on trusted business partners that he has worked with for years. The man that Jason had come take our old door out was very friendly and professional as well. Needless to say the quick action, turnaround and installation pleasantly surprised us because most businesses do not work so swiftly and efficiently. On a side note, when Jason came the first time I was home alone and dealt with him personally. As a woman, I have been treated unfairly, given extremely high prices and talked down to by men in certain professions. My garage opener stopped working and I called several places until finally calling Door Jam. Jason was very professional and was kind enough to try to understand what was wrong and took the time to speak with me. We've made an appointment so he could come and see what the problem was. Turns out we had couple of options, replacing the opener which would cost us several hundreds of dollars or repairing the logic board. He said that we had a good unit and he would try to fix it if that was him. We had some issued in getting the right logic board but Jason came to my house several times finally fixing the logic board and saving us money. He oiled our gears, got everything reset and adjusted etc. Just yesterday I had to call him because somehow our outside keypad needed reprograming and he just walked me through it. I really appreciate how he handled our issue and he has always called and came by until all was fixed and operational. Just bought a 1956-built house and I think the old wood garage door is original to the house. It needs a new door, has no opener now, and also needs all new tracks and hardware. Jason from Door Jam came to the house last week to measure and review options. He was professional and friendly. His company is providing an entire new system and the cost is reasonable. I dont' anticipate problems with delivery/installation, but I'll update if any occur. Follow up: The door and opener were installed last week. I have dealt with Jason at Door Jam for several years now. Door Jam repaired my old uninsulated garage door, and a couple of years later installed a new insulated door which has been troublle-free. When my Mother called me later last Saturday afternoon saying that her door spring had broken and her car was inside, I had no doubt who I would call. Love our new Liftmaster garage door opener! Jason recommended a belt drive model as our garage sits over living space. The unit is quiet as can be, and the price for the unit and installation was reasonable. We also had our steel rollers replaced with new nylon ones, which made opening and closing even quieter.
