I came here with low expectations. I was walking. I was hungry. I saw a poster. It said $9.99 or something. It had a breakfast burrito on it. That's cheaper than the food truck. But it's a donut shop. It can't be that good, right? Since it's a donut shop, it takes a bit longer to make here than at like a shop that just does breakfast burritos all the time. However, once you get your breakfast burrito, it's piping hot with egg, cheese, avocado, sausage and a sauce. It is sooooooo good! You can get jalapeños too, but I opted out of those. If you want a breakfast burrito for $10 at an unlikely spot, you should come here. The lady who runs it is really nice. It is either empty or super packed, no in between. This is our favorite donut/sandwich shop in K-town. The workers are always sooo sweet and friendly and gives us donuts on the house each visit!! I don't know why some of the previous reviews are so hostile towards this place. I have been here at least five times and each visit was wonderful. We usually just stop by in the morning to get breakfast sandwiches. Their breakfast burrito is really good for the price, and they don't charge for avocado!!!! amazing. The store itself is pretty small, but cozy. There are three tables with a decent amount of seating. The parking lot is pretty standard for a plaza with small businesses in K-town, but we usually don't have trouble finding parking. Our most recent order was number 17 and 18. Saying this place is great would be an understatement. The prices are very fair, the donuts are delicious and the customer service has always been at an elite level from the moment I first walked into the shop. My wife and I go here at least once a week, and we always walk out of the shop satisfied not only by the donuts and iced vanilla coffee but also by the amazing conversations we have with the lively and sweet lady who works there. I visited this place right after trying the Old Ferry Donut. I really enjoyed both. This place is more of your classic donut place, but it's done really well! No old oil flavor, the bread is light and fluffy, and those bear claws...boy oh boy they're the best I've ever had! Like I said, the bread is light but that bear claw had some heft! I stopped in on a weekday afternoon looking to satisfy my craving and opted for a Cinnamon Roll and an Apple Fritter. The lady working was super sweet and even threw in a Crumb Cake donut for free. Both the Fritter and Cinnamon Roll were ginormous and tasty to boot; there was a generous amount of apple in the Fritter and the Cinnamon Roll had that trademark pillowy-soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture that you can always expect from a mom & pop shop donut. With a sudden sweet tooth, while wandering Ktown -LA, I could not help but to stop when I saw this store. If someone is willing to call themselves "King" then they better be good at it. I was unsuprised when I saw it is a cash-only shop and preceeded into this new challenge. Food: 4/5 I got a basic glazed doughnut ($1.50). It was heavenly soft ( like I eating through cotton candy) but, the glaze was alittle off for me. I expected it to be a hit of sweetness and instead it had a tang before getting me there. However, that did not stop me from consuming the rest of the doughnut. All in all, definitely a nice a place for a doughnut (beats Dunkin everytime). However, I may try breakfast sandwiches as that seems to be the real bread and butter based on reviews. read more

NO CREDIT CARDS. NO ROLLED COINS ACCEPTED HERE. DOLLAR BILLS ONLY! I love donut holes. Period. I go here more than I should to buy my donut holes, Donut King has their donut holes done right. Meaning that I am a regular customer. Unlike most reviews that I read on here, I never received any extra donuts. And I would never expect to. I am fortunate enough not to have to drive here, because the parking situation is a horrendous. Morning shifts, there is a younger employee, and the donuts are fresh. Fresh. Polite employee knows how to say thank you. Night shifts, an older woman employee is there. The donuts are not fresh, as expected, kind of melted down due to the lack of Cooling system that they have in store. This woman never smiles, hardly say thank you to me. She seems agitated at times, and it only gets worse from here. I mean I come here more often at night then I do in the morning, it's hard not to remember my bunned up hair. I was so ignorant to think I would be treated a little nicer since I am a continuing patron. Not the case!! Morning shift on a Sunday, I have paid in dimes for my donut holes, it was accepted. Tuesday night I paid with 2 rolled $0.50 cents pennies. It was harshly accepted, no thank you, nothing. I thought it was the same situation on Friday night, where I would be able to buy $3.30 worth of donuts and pay $3.50 in Rolled Pennies. Nope!!! I pulled out the rolled coins and the night shift employee immediately said "No No No, no take here" she looks agitated and angry that I even attempted to pay with my rolled coins! I was not even offer a "No sorry we do not accept rolled coins here, apologies for the inconvenience" nothing! She just keep saying in a loud manner "ATM there, Bank no take, No! No!" My husband had advised her that he doesn't have his wallet, we don't have any other form of payments accept these coins. She absolutely refused! I was very upset and said that's fine you can cancel the donuts, she dumped the donuts that she placed in the bag, back to the display trays. I was extremely upset, this is the first time in my life that someone has ever refused money! Let alone, a small, mom and pop, donut shop, the fact that it is only $3.50 in ROLLED coins. LOOKING AT PERSPECTIVES: 1. United States is currently experience a coin shortage, places where I do go, businesses request to customers to pay in correct change or with card. 2. Our total was $3.30 and she tried to asked us if we want more donut holes to make it an even $4.00 so she does not have to give us back $0.70 in change. I have seen her do this to other customer before. So this means she is short on change? 3. She treated us so rudely as if we were some wild people, we were paying customers, dressed in clothing, with rolled coins. These are not loose change in a cup/bags they are counted rolled/wrapped change. 4. She lied about the bank not accepting pennies. I did research that banks only charge a fee if the coins are not rolled. What is the issue here? 5. It was 30 minutes to closing, she didn't want to give us the satisfaction of enjoying those donuts, in exchange for rolled currency. 6. She will have to throw those donuts away anyways? Since it is closing, unless she keeps them for the next day? Idk, kind of confused here. 7. Yes, it is a private business, she can accept any legal tender as she chooses. But is that a way to turn away your customer? Not even an apology, just a rude " No No No!!! No take!!!" -employee 8. We are in a middle of a pandemic, people have lost their jobs, they are down to their last cents. Only thing they can afford are donuts. What if people's only form of currency or coins? You are willing to turn them away over some measly donuts that you have to dumped anyways? Where are your humanity? 9. This is a small mom and pop shop, very unfortunate they do this during a pandemic. Let alone during a coin shortage in the U.S. the irony of this situation is just beyond. 10. We went to House of Pies after, to substitute our cravings. I asked the cashier if she will accept me rolled coins, and yes, rolled coins are accepted. Argument here is, if someone is your continuing patron, please treat them with respect as they have supported your business. If you truly know how to operate and run your shop, treat them with some kindness. After all your paying customers are your bread and butter. This was upsetting, very unfortunate, will be our last time. "Petty over Pennies." Wish these people the best of luck and hope they learn something call "human respect and decency." read more
