Sour cream cake donut, frosted strawberry donut and coffee roll
Juliana D.

Good donuts but service was a little slow. The location on military cutoff seems to have faster service and the donuts tasted fresher when I went there. I tried the frosted strawberry, sour cream and coffee roll. They had good flavor but tasted a little harder than they should.

18 minutes almost 20mins to get a little mini croissant slider I was literally about to cancel my order cuz I needed to go then they said it would be out shortly and they brought out a big family order and then mine im not sure if they only have one cook but come on why not make the slider that'll only take a few mins to make cuz I really dont think it takes 18mins almost 20mins to warm up a small mini croissant with a sausage patty & cheese I will not be returning delicious great Donuts friendly staff but do not expect fast service be ready to spend some time in here

This is my first time trying Donut Inn, at their new 2nd location. Arrived 30 minutes at 7am on a Monday after their opening. There was no one else but shortly afterwards a steady stream of people started coming. Inside there are four small tables, counter stool seating, and a handmade wood dining booth. Once you enter, all of the available donuts are in a display case on the far left next to the wall. It's cheaper if you buy a half dozen of donuts and just a teeny bit more cheaper if you buy a dozen vs buying individual donuts. They offer breakfast bagels and sandwiches, breakfast specials, oatmeal, lunch sandwiches, both cake and yeasted donuts, tea, and coffee. Bagels are from Beach House bagels but they make their own croissants. Coffee is from Java Estate, not far from here in NC. Main breakfast sandwiches start with two eggs. You have an option of adding what you like, including meat, veggies, and choice of cheese on your choice of bread. I ordered an egg and cheese croissant sandwich to-go. It was wrapped in foil and packaged into a brown bag. The croissant automatically comes toasted. The sandwich was simple, but delicious. It came with two perfectly round-shaped eggs, topped with melted cheddar cheese in a flaky, buttery toasted croissant. For donuts, tried the strawberry glazed, maple glazed, coffee roll (which comes with upcharge), glazed croissant, long John chocolate with Bavarian cream filling, and an apple cider donut. All donuts were good. My most favorite ones were the maple glazed, glazed croissant, and the coffee roll. Didn't really notice much of a difference in the yeasted dough compared to Wake and Bake. The apple cider donut was a cake donut-It wasn't as dense as Duck donuts. There were no pieces of Apple in the apple cider donut but plenty of cinnamon flavor. Ordered a single shot of espresso, which I thought was good by itself with no added sugar or cream. I don't usually drink expresso so can't compare to other coffee roasters. This is a great place to get a donut and a breakfast sandwich. Hope they open a future location in Monkey junction or Pleasure island, which would be closer to me!

Quiet music playing in the background as you walk into the shop. It's a donut bar, and a deli. You can get breakfast and lunch options. All their donuts are made fresh daily. They even have a donut of the day, and an option to give an idea for donut flavor. They have several coffee options as well as a soda fountain machine that you can pick from 6 different flavors. I am trying their blt with avacado spread on a chipada bread roll. It was delicious. 10.95 for a sandwich chips and drink. The thick cut bacon was crispy and just paired well with the tomato and avacado spread. Their donut selection was picked through but you can always find something you will enjoy. Just knowing it was made fresh daily here brings me coming back time and time again.

Slowest service in Wilmington, guaranteed! Food is average and the coffee is below that.

We finally had an opportunity to stop in and try this place out…read more They have outside seating and some comfortable couches inside. We started with the Bori bori coffee, a mixed fruit smoothie, guava pastry, cheese and guava pastry and a cookie. Service was quick and everyone was friendly. We asked for our pastries to be warmed up because we like them like that. They were good and very fresh. I was hopping for more guava and that's the only reason I rated the place a 4. We are used to having our guava pastries full of guava, that when you take a bite it spills over on the sides! It is nice place to come in and have a coffee and pastry, they also have the lunch truck outside which is great because we have had their food and it's full of flavor. They had other Spanish pastries, so maybe on my next visit we will try them out!

They offered a variety of homemade pastries, guava, or guava and cheese, different types of flan vanilla or coconut, vanilla, then different coffees. I got the white chocolate bori. There is also a food truck outside for more Puerto Rican delicacies either way it was nice to see another home town locally owned Cafe versus another franchise even though I do love Port city Java. This is a hidden gem.

Yet, the ambience inside has a cozy and inviting home presence with a comfortable leather couch, festive home decor & furniture, and friendly staff. Jesalyn, our server, was very amicable, calm, professional, and recommended the Winter Wonderland seasonal coffee with chocolate & hazelnut flavors. We both ordered it and spent about two hours there. Service was efficient yet peaceful even when there was a flow of traffic after we were served. Time flew fast there and yet the environment always maintained a sense of serenity despite the flow of people coming in the coffeehouse. There are different vendors with many items to select for purchase from art to accessories. The colorful bags with the smiley faces promoting mental health awareness caught my eye at one of the vendor areas there. I love that the coffeehouse is veteran owned, decorated for Christmas, and has an eclectic mix of handmade items and local art pieces. This is definitely a local business & coffeehouse to visit again in the future.

The seasonal coffee with chocolate undertones was a delight and was what I needed from such a long drive. We spent over two hours here taking photos and seeing family. The staff here are welcoming and so generous. The business supports Veterans and offers military discounts! Can't wait to meet Eric, the owner someday to thank him for his service and as a fire fighter. True American hero. Jesalyn, served us our coffee and assisted with all sorts of keto friendly options such as sugar free flavored syrups. Delicious! I suggested to have old Christmas favorites playing on the television such as Miracle on 34th Street or It's a Wonderful Life, the. I would have asked for a job and never left. The business supports local venders and community by selling a variety of favorites such as cute smiley face hand bags, jam, mugs, art work, photos, cards, and other gifts. This place is extremely popular, and I've visited multiple times before, including their coffee…read moreshops. A majority of the staff were welcoming, but when we first arrived, no one acknowledged or greeted us for about five minutes while we waited to be seated. Mind you, there was a line so acknowledging our presence would have been appreciated. There were also quite a few dirty tables that had not been cleared, which seemed to delay seating for everyone. I'm not entirely sure how their first-come, first-served policy works, but when it was our turn as a party of two, we were told the wait would be another 30 minutes. I had pointed at a table that people were sitting at and were boxing food and I asked if this table was available. She said no because that table was a table for four. I've actually been here with my husband and sat at said table of four. The party of four behind us was seated immediately, at that table. I completely understand that larger tables are often reserved for bigger groups, especially during busy hours, but it became frustrating when we ended up waiting over an hour for our food. The table seated after us had already eaten, paid and left before we even received our meals. There were also several careless mistakes throughout the experience. My cup arrived with lipstick stains and smudges on it. They did apologize and replace it immediately, which I appreciated. A dishwasher not washing a lipstick stain is not really in their control, but it is in their control to serve me a dirty glass. When my food arrived, it was completely covered in sesame seeds to the point that it looked excessive and unintentional. My husband actually watched the girl, who was the one in charge I guess of filling sauce and grabbing dishes from the kitchen, dump the sesame seeds onto the plate, and even our waiter, who was not the person handling the dish, agreed that it looked drenched in them. They corrected the issue for us, but for a meal that cost over $100 (including tip, for a table of 2) without alcohol, I expected more attention to detail. They were all really understanding of the issues and corrected them. On top of that, someone who was not our server added two extra drinks to our bill when we were paying. That was $11 on our bill. Again, mistakes happen, especially in busy restaurants, but after multiple issues throughout the meal, it started to feel careless rather than accidental. I do appreciate that staff tried to fix the problems when we brought them up, but I wish there had been more mindfulness and attention to detail overall.
