It's not the store I'm reviewing, but the appliance I bought in the store! The GE washer dryer combination has got to be the worst catastrophe that's ever been Introduced into the market. Although they give you a large booklet on how to do washing and drying, this does not do either one very well. If only I had this information before, I ripped out all the cabinetry in the laundry room to accommodate this all in one unit ...I could've saved a lot of heartache! The filter is almost impossible to get out of the machine and although there's several instructional videos on YouTube, you'll soon learn all the design errors on the filter. I was so impressed with It's modern look I didn't think of small details like what if I don't wanna dry my delicates. Being a front loading machine, you can't just open the door. You can read paragraphs in the introduction pamphlet of reasons why your clothes will feel wet when the cycle is over.....the reason is....BECAUSE THEY ARE STILL WET! They come out so wrinkled and damp it makes you want to sit down and cry! Bottom line, don't tear up your laundry room, don't rely on a salesperson and insist on a demonstration! read more

First, I rarely give reviews, and even more rare to give bad reviews. When we move to town, we wanted to buy and support local businesses. Everyone said Don has the best service, so we went several times. I was specifically pointed to KitchenAid brand even though I made my intention known that I would rather mix and match appliances for not one brand has the best of every type of appliance. I never got a follow up from sales. The second time I went in, I specifically asked that they call me if they are getting low on the Speed Queen washer and dryer sets, I never got a call so I assumed that they had plenty. When I called in a month later to buy a set, they were sold out and had no record of my request. My third and last time there, I tried to buy a 36" range that they had recommended the first time I was there, but they were back ordered at least 9 months. After researching consumer report reviews, I bought all of my appliances exactly as I like them through Lowe's and another online store and had no problem. Got my Speed Queens within a week from online. Speaking with other recently moved here residences who bought from Don's also had very bad experiences with rude customer service, back orders with additions delays, and additional install fee for the back ordered appliances which they were not aware of because they thought that they had paid for installation of all of their appliances when they bought them together in the beginning. So there goes another 500 dollars in delivery and installation of one back order. So, not only would I not recommend Don's, I would recommend people not to shop at Don's. read more

My wife and I tried to shop there about 12 years ago, and when we walked in, a man asked us if he could help us. We told him we were looking for an office sized refrigerator. He "harumphed", pointed over to a far area of the store, and said, "They should be over there." pointing to some vague area of the store, and walked off. This past week, I called just after they opened, and asked for an older, heavy set man, I'd talked with a week or two ago about a Maytag dishwasher(no inexpensive appliance at that). The operator said, "Oh, Robert. One moment please." She switched me to him and he said he was with a customer and could he have my number and he'd call me right back. Later, I called and asked for him, and the operator said he's was probably out to lunch. He never even bothered to call me back the whole day. Needless to say, I found the $799 dishwasher I wanted somewhere else. The folks there are rude and only interested in you if you're looking for the way high dollar appliances. I'll never darken their doorway again, and suggest folks shop elsewhere. read more

I have bought several appliances from Don's and my last purchase was a Whirlpool refrigerator. When i chose this refrigerator, had I been told that the ice maker is a major problem and fails frequently, I would never have purchased it. As it is, the ice maker stopped working after one year and the repair person told me that this is a common issue and the ice unit needed replacement. He worked on it for a while and managed to get it working again but the next time it went out I was told that the entire freezer side door needed to be replaced on a special order. That was several months ago. After a couple of months, I received a call telling me that the new door had come in but it was damaged and would have to be reordered. After more than another month I called to check the status and was told the door was being shipped and would arrive the following week. The week came and went and, when I called again, I was told that no one had said the door was in shipment. The purchase of a new appliance is one thing, but getting the communication in and around service and repair work is another story. If and when this issue is resolved I have no intentions of making another purchase at Don's again. read more

We bought and paid for a dishwasher and stove in early September, together with delivery and installation fees. We were told that the dishwasher was in stock, but the stove had to be ordered and would be in late September. We never heard from them. We called them in early October and were told it would be in late October. Same thing. We had to call them to find out what the status was. No apologies, no explanations. We finally canceled the order for the stove and told them to deliver and install the dishwasher. Were told it would be 2-3 weeks! So we might get the dishwasher we paid for in full 2 months later. Mixed Feelings. Pros: Refrigerator install went good. Service: Saved our thanksgiving dinner by coming out to fix my oven at 3:30 the day before Thanksgiving ! Thank you soooo much! Cons: Bought a new washing machine March 6, 2020. The salesman, Paul, asked us if we wanted morning or afternoon. We chose morning delivery. It is now 1:30 pm and no delivery yet!. Delivery guy called about 8:30 a.m. and said it would be about noon. We said "okay". At 12:30 my husband calls and talks to a warehouse manager. He can't get ahold of the driver and says "I try to get a hold of him and will call you back in 20 minutes." He never called back. Husband calls and talks to Paul, the salesman, and he's like "well thats not my department. I don't have anything to do with that." I called and talked to Tony, store manager, and he says "a morning delivery can run up to 2pm, and an afternoon delivery can run up to 7 or 8 at night!" I told him that in my book morning is up until noon, not 2 p.m. We have an appointment at 3pm. Had I known MORNING MEANT UNTIL 2PM then I would have planned this differently! I asked him where the truck is and he said they were coming back from Grand Saline. So he offers to deliver our washing machine himself. I said that's fine. He never showed up! His delivery guys finally showed up at 2:00. Prior to this fiasco, I was really impressed with Don's. The delivery guy should have called if he was not going to be here "around noon". read more

Our dishwasher died. I have dealt with Lowes in the past and did not like the service at all. Went to Don's and Michael took care of me. While he had what I wanted in white in stock. I wanted Stainless. He looked it up and matched the price Loews had it for without even asking. He said he'd get it out of the warehouse and would have his service guy call when it came in to schedule the installation. Got a call a few hours later from Patrick (?) and it was scheduled for the following Monday. H Patrick was on time and had it installed in ~45 min. He was polite and courteous and knew what he was doing. A truly seamless experience. The installation price was a little higher, but in my mind was worth it since I didn't have to deal with the Lowes confusion. While I read some negative reviews, all I can say is I had a great experience with Don's and will be back when I need another appliance. read more

Reading all these terrible experiences, I had to share mine as well, except it was not terrible. Two occasions I needed them to come service my new Samsung washer dryer set purchased from Dons. Both calls, they came quick and fixed my issues with no complaints. I want to purchase a new kitchen suite but am a little hesitant reading these reviews. My personal experience as of now has been fine. I think my take away is I will only purchase in stock and ready to deliver items. Backorder items seem to be where they drop the ball. I ordered a fridge and freezer 9 months ago. At the time they told me that there were 150 people in front of me to get the same one I ordered. They we're getting g then in shipments of 50. 9 months later, they keep giving me the run around. Still don't have it. Sales people are dismissive and rude and do not seem to care that I paid for this fridge and still don't have it. I believe they are master liars. I also believe they give products to the biggest builders first. I've bought all my appliances at Don's. They DO NOT jack up the price with crazy add-ons like "the electric cord costing additional for a dryer". They are always ethical and the salesman I've use most often (Paul) has always added any manufacturer's discounts even after I've decided to buy. And I want to encourage anyone purchasing an appliance to also purchase Don's extended maintenance agreement. This is not a manufacturer's warranty but is serviced by Don's team themselves. My big freezer was going out and I called Don's for service in desperation. Susan was wonderful to work me into the schedule and Jerome came to the rescue the very next day. A part was required, but Jerome repaired the freezer to the point I could get by until the part came in. No charges until the part arrived and was installed. Jerome didn't make a big mess and was professional and friendly. There is so much to be said for buying from hometown folks!! read more

The tremendous lack of appreciation for the customer experience post purchase is horrific. Less than 60 days after purchasing their "highly recommended" Frigidaire Professional fridge and freezer set, the ice maker would not auto shut-off. I phoned the store and was advised that it would be a four day wait. I was also told that on that day a tech would call me at 9:00 AM to "set my appointment" for that day, as they Only schedule the Day- Not the time. This would not be the best use of my limited time off work. As suc I asked to speak to the sales guy that sold the units to me, as this could possibly be a button or some easy fix. After several minutes, he abruptly answered, he cut me off during my explanation, and told me " this sounds like you just need a service call, I can connect you". I told him, the unit is basically new. His additional thoughts on the matter were extremely dismissive. This has been a highly disappointing buying experience. read more

He said that it was a low-end TV and that was the picture it had. No one told us that when we bought the TV back in December. They do not stand behind the products they sell! Never again. One particular employee was involved in both my friends and my own poor experience. I will not name names, but his communication skills are very poor. I ordered an appliance and was told 2 weeks. Paid for it and everything. Not a peep until the fourth week, I was ready to lose my temper. I felt I was lied to from the get go on how easy it was to get the appliance. Upon inspection of the "new fridge" on delivery I noticed it didn't come in a box, closer look revealed dents, dims and scratches all over. Called for help with my dryer that I purchased from their store a few years back. Called the 1-800 # on the display screen and was quoted $129.00 for a replacement part. Was told that Don's was an authorized repair-store. After less than an hour at my house, received a bill for $314.00. Apparently, you will be charged $79 for a call-out fee, as well as $90 for labor. I bought 2,143.36 worth of appliances in October of 2017. We are doing a remodel on our lake home and I asked if it would be any problem to hold the appliances until our contractor was ready for them. Gladly, they said yes...it would be no problem. Skip ahead a few months, we are now ready for the appliances. I received another copy of my original invoice that was now charging me an additional $355 for delivery and installation for two of the appliances. These are added on to the original invoice. When I paid for the initial purchase you would think that they would tell me that they are going to require additional payment somewhere down the line. The response I received was that the sales person was sure he had discussed that with me. Wouldn't it make sense to anyone that if he had discussed it with me at the time, I would've paid it then. It does not sit right to come back months later for an additional payment. I don't have an issue with paying for installation, I have an issue it not being discussed at the time of purchase. It would have factored in on whether or not I chose to purchase the appliances from Don's versus a competitor that would charges less than they do. Also, before I spoke to anyone about this invoice I anonymously asked how much they would charge to deliver and install a dishwasher in Murchison... I was quoted $220. As you can see on the 2nd invoice, they are charging $150. Less yes, I feel bad for the folks that going to pay the $220. Enough said. read more
