I can't say enough good things about Don's. Unbelievably friendly and helpful staff. All around great business and people!

Dons is such a classic tennis shop and I LOVE that. You get true customer service and they really know their stuff! I went there for pickleball paddles and they allows me to try a paddle for free! I ended up buying it and they helped me order it as well, covered the shipping, and let me use the demo paddle in the meantime. True customer service. The prices are honest and when you buy a paddle you get free paddle grips too! I would absolutely do business with them again! read more

98% chance of Don! The owner is a present force at his Tennis shop in Myers Park. If you are a beginner looking to get used racket, a restringing, or to service rackets in any way Don and his team are here for you. Talking to Don today he commented that he can do same day service sometimes and definitely over night. Come see Don and the guys for all tennis and pickleball needs. read more

Love this place. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great selection of equipment too.

Don is a cool dude ... in a unique way. He's an older fellow who probably doesn't have cable yet. There is no computer in this shop, and I highly doubt the dude has a Tracfone. On the other hand, and what's important, is that he knows his tennis, especially his rackets. If you ask him one simple question about a racket, his passion will take over and he will go on a rampage. I nod like I understand, but I'm always thinking about Dunkin' Donuts next door. Today, I left two rackets to be restrung. It took one hour and cost $27 per racket (plus tax). I walked the greenway across the street (review in near future). On a related note, I haven't played tennis for more than a year because I always had to get my racket restrung, which got annoying. But I love to play and a guy at the gym kept begging me to play because he's now obsessed with tennis. So, when I texted my friend to let him know I got my racket restrung, he wrote back saying he also got his racquet restrung. See what he did there (racket/racquet)? He will pay. I haven't played in more than a year, but the key to tennis is determination. That usually (not always) leads to a win. So I guess tennis is a lot like life. And life is about winning. Don has encyclopedic knowledge of all things tennis, and he dispenses it liberally. My racket needed restringing, so I made an appointment. Don measured my grip, asked me a few questions, and quickly determined the right string and tension for me. He also gave me a wrap to make my grip the right girth. With his large selection of shoes, I found the next generation of the tennis shoe I wear, which needed replacing, in my size. I was out of there in 45 minutes, well equipped. Thanks, Don! read more

I came here based on reviews and this place did not disappoint. As long as my daughter plays tennis, we will be repeat customers. Hospitality alone will bring me back, however the selection and knowledge of the products was amazing. Don made sure we were well taken care of from the minute we walked in until we made our purchase. We will definitely be repeat customers. Thankful there are still small businesses like this one!! Thank you!! read more

Great place to go for tennis gear. Don is very knowledgable about what rackets and strings better suits your game and level of tennis. He will welcome you with his southern hospitality. read more

Great local tennis shop to help with all your tennis or pickleball needs. Don is a great guy as is his team!

I had just received a new racquet (Head Gravity Team 104) in the mail and was anxious to get it strung and test it out. My club stringer was heading away for the weekend, so I called Don and he said to bring it in. They had it done for me in less than 1 hour! Great customer service, and an amazing array of tennis and pickleball accessories and a huge shoe selection. Check this store out when you are in the Charlotte area! read more

Don is a knowledgeable, kind, and great man. They have a great selection of rackets, bags, tennis balls, and more with great prices.

Don is a jolly good person who knows his tennis very well. One look at you is enough for him to determine what racquet suits you and gives you the best deal. He is a one stop shop for all your tennis needs. He is amicable and can be reached at any time for questions. I have 2 racquets from him and even after extensive use in 5 years, both are in great shape. From beginners to professionals, Dan has it all. read more

Don's is the best! We've been coming here for years, they always re-string our racquet within the next day, and sometimes within the next few hours if it's possible! My wife and I walked in and were immediately greeted and assisted by Kevin. After a couple minutes, Don came over and introduced himself. Both Kevin and Don were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Don ended up helping me find the right racket and the perfect pair of tennis shoes for the clay courts I play on. I highly recommend Don's Tennis Accessories. Great place with great people. read more

Tennis sale anyone?! Don's tennis has had a sale every time I've driven by. Located at the intersection of Morehead and McDowell, Don's tennis has everything a tennis fan/player would want. Tennis channel on the small TV all day. Demo racquets available. Every racquet you could want is for sale here, as well as shoes, balls, bags, hoppers, string, grips, etc, etc. Don is there most days and provides some fast talking, but is genuine in his advice and feedback. Usually a full time stinger working too, so getting your racquet re-strung same day usually isn't an issue. One point to mention...only cash or check...no plastic. read more

Just went to Don's the other day to get my tennis racket re-strung. The store was pretty busy (right after work - 5ish), but Don somehow was still able to provide personal service as he always does. You pretty much can get everything Tennis in this store, and if Don doesn't have it, he will most likely order it for you if you want to wait for it. You can either drop your rackets off and come back later to pick them up - most of the time I only have one to string and I just wait for it while browsing at the new products, maybe hitting some with the makeshift hitting cage that Don has in the back of the store. Don is pretty old school so no credit/debit cards... just cash or check. I always make sure I make a pit stop at the ATM before I go and see Don. read more

I will never do business again at Don's Tennis after being a long time customer. I was buying a new racquet today using a $100 gift card I received for Christmas. After applying the gift card, the balance was paid using a card. Don asked me if I wanted the gift card back, I replied no since there was no balance. He cut it up and put in trash. After I left Don came after me and told me the gift card was declined. He accused me of trying to use a gift card that did not have any money on it. This gift card was never used since I was saving to buy a new racquet. Now I cannot get a replacement gift card because Don did not give me all of the pieces. I also got a refund for the racquet. Not doing business with someone calls me dishonest. read more

I love Dons! He is so helpful!!! I'm new to tennis, and was overwhelmed with what racket to use. I gave him my budget, and he picked out multiple rackets for me to test drive and try. read more

Don is a unique character. Does a great job on whatever you need tennis-related. Everyone needs to visit him at least once.

I love Don's! Don is one of the most charismatic individuals you'll meet, and he loves tennis! They have everything from rackets to balls to ball machines to wrist bands to novelty items to grips and dampeners...the list goes on! The best part about this place? THEY'LL HAVE YOUR RACKET STRUNG THE SAME DAY!!! I've been coming here ever since! His stringers are pretty good, too, so don't go to Dick's or other sporting goods stores. Go to Don's. read more

It's been over two years since my last post. I want everyone to know that nothing has changed. Don's Tennis is the same today as it was two years ago. It's still great. Don has always took the time to talk with me and helped me in choosing the right racket, strings and tension for the style of tennis I play. Because of his advice my elbow doesn't hurt anymore and I was able to continue playing tennis. You cannot get that kind of personal one on one attention on line. I like to touch, feel and try out equipment on the spot. Not wait for days or weeks to have something ordered come in to find out it was not what I wanted. What a waist of time. That alone is priceless and worth the trip to Don's. I have recommended all my friends to at least go by and see what Don's Tennis has to offer. I assured them they would not be disappointed. I highly recommend them to everyone. Ron Atchley Lincolnton, NC read more

5 for Don, always professional not even Amazon can compete against him. Same here been stringing my racquets for decades and his choice of bags and racquets are top notch. Not a tennis question he can't answer. Don doesn't need a computer to be successful. Players are always at his shop. Don how about some lounge chairs and coffee, since people don't leave and like talking tennis? Lol read more

Highly recommend Don's. How many people can look at your string and tell you exactly how you play? I travel 20 miles to have Don and his team restring my racquets because I know 1. they don't cut corners, 2. they'll customize the stringing to how you play, and 3. they are very quick. Don (and Kevin) is the go-to man on restringing for the many semi-pro's and pro's in the area and I completely understand why. The man knows his tennis and equipment. read more

I've trusted Don with every aspect of my tennis game for almost 30 years. My preference is Yonex and he's always had a good selection of new models and great sales on previous models. Don is like finding a great mechanic. For as long as he's in business, I'll keeping driving past a dozen other places where I could buy things. Some times I might pay a little more for something, but most times I get a good deal. I tend to go for some unique string colors and they've always been a talking point on the court. I enjoy sending people to Don's because he is a LEGEND of tennis in the Charlotte area. Racquets, grip tape, shoes, tennis bags, racquet accessories, apparel, tennis balls, multiple string types... he's got it. I only remember having one issue with a racquet being strung and it was my fault. Don offered to re-string the racquet at No Charge, but I insisted that I pay for my own mistake. Go see Don. You'll be extremely happy you did. read more

Don's is the go to place for your tennis needs. You wouldn't expect a local tennis shop to beat the prices of mega stores and on-line retailers, but Don does it. In addition, he carries the largest inventory of tennis racquets, balls, grips, bags, and other gear in the area. Everything isn't always neatly arranged, but you can find it. Also, a great place for stringing. If there is a knock, you're not going to find a great selection of apparel......not a place for shirts, shorts or skirts, but he has a decent selection of shoes, socks, and hats. Before you buy, go to Don's............9/10, he'll be able to beat your lowest price. read more

Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I returned a demo racquet, and "Don" basically started yelling at me because it was 2 days late apparently. It was never communicated to me how long I could demo the racquet, and they had all of my contact information if it was that important. I even tried to apologize, but Don just interrupted me over and over. It was actually pretty hilarious, but I would never step foot in this store again. read more

Nobody knows tennis accouterments like Don. Always willing to talk gear, there is no one like him and no place like Don's Tennis Accessories in Charlotte. The store is jam packed with stuff and they have something for every level of player. You can demo rackets and swap them out for more rackets until you find just what you're looking for. Same day stringing service. The only place in Charlotte for selection, service, and information, and the prices are the same as buying online. read more

I am a big fan. You can demo racquets for a few bucks a day. If you opt to buy a racquet, the demo fees get removed from the price of the racquet. You can also buy used racquets. Great way to get an expensive racquet on "sale". Don -- the owner -- is a "master" stringer. Worth the trip. read more

I've bought shoes, a sweet 3-compartment insulated Head bag, grip, and had my rackets restrung there several times. Always satisfied by their professionalism, speed, and courtesy. There's no shoddy salesman tactics, no unkept promises about restringing (done same day or next), and I always leave happy. I highly recommend Don's to all tennis players, new and experienced. Thanks Don's read more

I bought a lot of rackets and supplies from Don's store close to 10 years. Last two weeks, I bought four tennis rackets, tennis strings, shoes, and supplies. One of his employee strung one of my racket incorrectly. Close to the center of the racket, he repeated weaving four crosses and repeated weaving three mains at the same location. This appeared to be intentional. How could anyone repeat weaving 4 crosses and 3 mains at the same spot without notice? I bought two same rackets, same strings, and same tensions. The other one was strung correctly. At the tennis court, I noticed that they both did not handle the ball the same way and had different stability. I didn't know why until I carefully compared the two and noticed that one racket was strung as I mentioned above. I called Don and mentioned the problem. He asked me to bring them back for him to take a look at. I brought them both to Don. He put a new string for free with a can of tennis (3) balls. However, I had wasted money for gas to drive to and from his store. I had wasted more than two hours on this. If this guy had strung my racket correctly, I could have spent money and time for something else. I like Don and have a lot of trust in him. He helped me select racket, string, and tension. He is a good business man. But I lose trust for the person that restrings my racket. Moving forward, I plan to go to Don's store again but will think carefully about the consequences before buying tennis string and let them restring. If you must restring your racket there, when you go and pick it up, you need to check your racket to make sure it is restrung correctly. There are many places in Charlotte area that do racket restring and they do better job than this guy at Don's store. read more

Don was so helpful! I needed new shoes and a bag and his selection and help made me so happy! Great items and service!

I have been doing business with Don since he opened up back in 1983 or so. His shop is the best place to get rackets strung--always done right, with the tension you specify. Stringing is consistent here; 55 pounds last week is 55 pounds next week too. I know some former world class players who trust Don with their stringing. So I highly recommend Don's. He also has a good selection of racquets, shoes, and anything else you need. read more

Don's is a one of a kind in Charlotte. Great advice on buying equipment or stringing. Love stopping in.
