He's a hockey fan (Clinton is a hockey town) and the Utica Club is dirt cheap. It's a total stinky rathole of a bar...but very functional.

Everything from the authentic sourdough bread, cider donut bread pudding was extremely memorable. We happen to be in there on St. Patrick's Day weekend, so while I don't think you'll be able to enjoy the corn beef on a regular basis, if it's any indication of the regular menu, it was stupendous. Not to mention the fact that the drinks were generous and we really appreciated the warm yet. Updated ambience. Kind of like, having a great babysitter, or Electrician. I hate to recommend Nola's too highly because I'm afraid we won't be able to just pop in next time. I would suggest reservations. Highly recommended.

We visited over the weekend with friends who had dined there previously. Our 6:30 reservation was honored promptly upon arrival. The village setting is quaint, and the restaurant itself is warmly decorated--upscale enough to feel special but still relaxed and approachable. After being seated, our server presented the drink menu and specials. Our friends ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, along with the Steak Nicholas and the double smash burger. My wife selected the seafood special--a blackened salmon with lobster salad--while I opted for the Steak Nicholas as well. The food arrived in a timely manner and was everything was very good. My steak was perfectly cooked, complemented by the house Worcestershire sauce and compound butter. The fried green tomatoes were also well-prepared. The only disappointment at the table was the brown butter cake our friends ordered for dessert, which they found dry and lacking freshness. Where the experience fell short, however, was service. While our server was polite, she was difficult to find at times, leading to long waits for assistance. There was also some confusion when boxing up leftovers. The most significant issue arose when it was time to settle the bill. Our total came to $260, and we requested separate checks. Unfortunately, our server seemed very flustered and unsure of how to split the bill, and after some back-and-forth, she suggested dividing it evenly. We agreed simply to avoid further delay. However, when processing payment, the card charge came to $153 before tip--well above the correct half of the bill (approximately $130). Combined with our friends' $200 cash payment, the total ended up being $380, which inadvertently resulted in a very large gratuity - something we didn't realize until we had left the restaurant, as the confusion surrounding how to split the bill was frustrating and we simply wanted to head out. While we take responsibility for not carefully resolving the issue before leaving, the confusion around the bill frustrated us in the moment and left a negative final impression on an otherwise enjoyable meal. Overall: The food was excellent and worth trying, particularly the Steak Nicholas and seafood offerings. That said, service and billing procedures could benefit from improvement to ensure a smoother dining experience.

I've only ever had breakfast and it's only usually been around 7:00 a.m.. it's a small little diner and usually has an older crowd there at least at the times that I've been there. Breakfast is pretty good, I haven't yet had anything that I didn't like, however one dish does stand out in my opinion and that would be the country fried steak. I ordered it a couple weeks ago and it was incredible, the best country fried steak that I've had anywhere and so when I was there a couple days ago I ordered it again. This way I could tell if the first time was a fluke or that's how they actually make it and it was just as good. Other places you order this and it comes out a little soggy or even cold in the middle, but Charlie's place does it perfectly. It does have gravy on it which isn't too spicy, which I consider a good thing because I can always add more spice but you can't really take it away if it's already there. Prices aren't too bad at least in comparison to other places. The place itself is pretty clean looking and there's plenty of parking lot to go around. They also have an outside dining area in the back however I'm usually there like I said pretty early in the morning so I've never seen anybody using it however probably a lunch thing.

Was with friends who had their new born baby girl and everyone went gaga over her.

Brittany provided very good service. Very friendly and attentive. Stuffed jalapenos with sausage were ok. Peppers were not very hot. Wouldn't order again. 2 Peppers and 2 sausage only. Wasn't really put together well. Soup, shrimp and crab bisque, amazing, as previously enjoyed. Not salty at all. Salmon with mustard sauce special was excellent. Brussels and rice were very good, as well. Bacon wrapped pork medallions bourbon cream sauce was just ok. Vegetables and mashed potatoes were good. Not a mash potatoes person but theirs weren't bad. Their French Fries were great. Restaurant is nice inside with indoor and in season, outdoor seating. They have lots of areas for groups including an upstairs section. I would recommend and return here.

The waitresses were still nice but clearly exhausted. It cost too much, frankly - for what we ate and the experience. At least it was nice to have the crowd lessen and the room become quiet over the hour. Last year we went midmorning and there were full food stations but it was hard to hear each other. We do enjoy the scenery there at the dam and nearby at Delta Lake. It's nice to see and hear the water in Spring.

I now know that this unassuming restaurant has some of the friendliest staff and best prepared food in the Utica area. I can't wait to go back. With a full roster of reservations scheduled for their dining room, the four of us walked in and slotted up at the bar for dinner with front row seats to the action in the kitchen. First up: spicy and flavorful Utica greens covered in a healthy sprinkling of cheese. Would order again. After chatting with the owner, we ordered two scallop pasta dishes, a steak sandwich, and chicken Parm (which they were kind enough to make with fra diavolo sauce for my spice lord husband). EVERYTHING was impeccable, and I was honestly tempted to pick up my plate and lick it clean - that's how good the seared scallops over linguine were. Pasta was cooked perfectly, the sauce was light, well seasoned and well balanced (and not actually on their menu, so bonus points for being willing and able to pull that out on the fly!). In and out in about an hour, though we never felt rushed. We're looking forward to trying more apps and staying for an espresso and dessert next time!
