I was referred to this business by AAA to compare pricing for keys and locks. Unfortunately, my experience on the phone was extremely disappointing. When you're locked out or dealing with key issues, customer service is just as important as the price. A little kindness and professionalism can make a stressful situation much easier. Instead, the person I spoke with was dismissive and rude from the very beginning of the call. I'm honestly surprised AAA would recommend a company with this level of customer service, especially since AAA is known for treating its members with respect. At first, I considered letting it go. Then I started reading the reviews--both the positive and the negative--and realized my experience wasn't unique. It appears that others have had similar interactions, which makes me believe this wasn't just a bad day. Customer service costs nothing. Being polite, respectful, and willing to help goes a long way, especially when customers are already dealing with a stressful situation. Amazing service! I called to confirm they make house key copies, in which I was told yes to come anytime and it will be $3. I drive there and as soon as I walk inside, the guy behind the counter asked me what I needed and 90 seconds later I'm paying $3.26 for my key. The staff is genuinely friendly, you're in and out of there, plus they have a lot of cool Batman memorabilia to look at. Had to get a car door lock replaced--they did it right away, with awesome service and attitude--and waaaaayyyy cheaper than the dealer.

I walked in to have a spare key for my car cut and programed and the lady told me that I have to come in at 8:30am Monday - Friday because they have no one in store to program the key... whats the point of having a store location if you cam even make spare keys for people in an non-emergency situation... that's absolutely ridiculous!! read more

I purchased a 2008 Infiniti G37 with only one smart fob/key and I wanted to get a backup. Dealer wanted $323 for a smart fob and blank key, and $220 to program and $26 to cut key. Outrageous!!! I purchased a new O.E.M. factory Infiniti fob/key for $120 on E-bay. And Don's programmed it for $80 and cut the key. Only took 20 minutes, works Fine, Very satisfied. HINT - the tech told me the cheap fob/keys ($20 - $50 or so) cannot be programmed and are a waste of money. So stick with O.E.M. and pay a bit more and you're good to go. I wish that I could give more than 5 stars- I've used this company several times, but in an emergency today the best guy ever, Buddy, helped me rekey my car and entire house (13 locks in all!) after my purse/keys/address were stolen. Their prices are more than fair, especially for all of the work this man put in from 3:00 until after 8:00. He went above and beyond, making sure everything was absolutely secure, was incredibly kind, thoughtful, and respectful. I needed a normal house key to copy. I had to go back 3 separate times in one day because I received keys that didn't work. They didn't even acknowledge it or compensate me in any way. Was referred by AAA when our van got broken into @ the Home Depot parking lot in San Bernardino on 21st st. The criminals tried stealing our van and completely broke our ignition. Thank goodness they weren't successful in stealing it. AAA said that Don's lock and key could fix our ignition. So we had them come out and try. The technician was friendly, helpful, and super fast. They unplugged my battery without telling me and couldn't even figure out how to replace my key. It was very strange and sketchy to begin with. The women working in the back don't even check for customers when they enter the building so people just standing around wondering if they are even open for business. They also have very outdated "awards" on display for service which now I know why. I wish I could time travel back to when their service was awesome. read more

I got quotes from several locksmiths to have our mailbox key replaced, not only was Don's easy to get ahold of and very helpful, but they were the best quote given. I was told by at least one two other locksmiths that our current lock would need to be drilled out, however they were able to pick it instead and save me a extra $20. Quick and easy! read more

On several occasions, I needed work done at the shop (car keys that need to be programmed, a key duplicated for a 1971 Volkswagen and various keys made by code). On far too many occasions, I have been turned away because there was no one in thw shop with the ability to do the job. Instead, I was forced to either wait for a technician in one of the service vehicles to come to the shop and was told the wait time could be 30 minutes to several hours. Having worked in the business myself, I find it unacceptable to be tied to the arrival of a service truck and locksmith/technician or to have to plan my day or week for said locksmith/technician to be at the shop at their convenience and that there is seldom a locksmith/technician in thw shop that can do the job that by all accounts, I'm paying a premium for. That the business is in class proximity to my residence does me no good if I have to wait around all day for what should be a simple job if there was someone there to actually do it. Considering that time is money and money is time, I don't like either wasted. You waste one, you've succeeded in wasting the other as well. I will sooner drive to a competitor and have the job done while I wait rather than wait hours for a field technician to do the job that would normally only take 5-10 minutes on the long end. read more

Fritts Ford recommended Don's lock and key to make the replacement key needed for my vehicle. I called to setup service, explained I wasn't at home but could schedule for later in the afternoon, spent almost 15 minutes getting them all the information they requested then they determined it would be considered after hours (4:30 in the afternoon is apparently after hours even though their store lists until 5:00 pm) and that everything she had stated including pricing was now null and void and I would need to negotiate with the technician when they got on site. read more
