Writing this review from a service this morning in Fontana. Put requests out for a quick locksmith job. Instead of a text, got a call from some guy who said he was with Tom's Lock and Key. Could be here in 30mins great. Quoted me $95 to put a lock on a bedroom door. When done wanted to charge me $250 to just change the doorknob to one with a lock on it. After arguing a few mins, settled on $200 to get him out of my house. Asked for a receipt. Got a very generic receipt that didn't state actual name of Tom's Lock & Key but said 24HR Locksmith with a different phone number. Receipt name said technician was "Mike". Phone number was also different on receipt than person that called me. read more

For a less than 1 minute job they charged me $228 and they did not even travel that far they were about 8-10 away from me. Also when I asked how much over the phone they did not tell me. But I was desperate to open my door. Guess they profit on people's desperation. read more

My son locked himself out of his apartment near the UC Riverside campus. He called Tom's Locksmith based on the positive reviews. The man who came unlocked his doors, but charged my son $550 for this "service." Now, it was the day before Thanksgiving, but $550 is outrageous to pick the locks on two doors. I don't know if the tech was a thief and making up prices, or he took advantage of my son because he's 20 and young and inexperienced. Either way, I can't recommend this company. If the wants to contact me and offer a partial refund, I'll reconsider my negative review. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about this company. The technician, Brandon, was very helpful, friendly, and prompt. I lost my house keys and he was able to open my door quickly and I was back in my house in no time. I would call again and request him, if I ever needed services again. Was not cheaper than the dealer. You are paying for convenience. I recommend just going to the dealer and getting the namebrand key fob.

Called to have a locksmith come out. When asking for a quote I was told the technician would call and give me a price. Tech called but wouldn't give a price until on site when I was told $300 to unlock the door with an airbag. When I told the tech no and I'll just call the other company that would charge 150 the tech said they'd match the price. Such a scam to call a place that pimps you out to the highest bidder. I'll never ever use this business for any lock or key needs. Learn how to provide actual customer service or stay in your lane and don't act like you actually do anything to help people. Such a pathetic company to jerk people around just so they can get a contract with a locksmith who will rip you off. I promise I won't use your crooked company again if needed. Found the business via Yelp when I needed to change a lock at home. Its one of those Kwikset that you can get ar Home Depot, but I got stuck midway. Thank God for Tom's Lock & Key. I used Yelp Projects to find an emergency locksmith after getting locked out of my home when my key broke off in the deadbolt. Tom's Lock & Key was the first to respond (almost immediately) and assured I could be taken care of. I think we had a little miscommunication about how long it would take to get to me because it took about an hour before arrival, but being that I got locked out at 9PM I was grateful anyone was able to come at all, it was just unfortunate that it was really cold out. Angel was the locksmith dispatched that came to my rescue that night, and he was amazing. He was very professional and got straight to work on getting my deadbolt open and my broken key extracted. Everything went smoothly, and Angel had me back inside within 30 mins and with the integrity of my deadbolt and door intact. I called this company, and a lady answered the phone. She took my information and said one of her technicians would call me. A guy named Brandon called me and said he would come to my residence to see the job and quote me. Some shady youngster showed up in a black car with an Amazon magnetic door sticker and a kid in the passenger kid holding a dog. His price was ridiculous. I told him I didn't want the service because it was too high, and he rudely demanded I give him a service fee. While standing on my property, he insulted me and took a fighting stance . I told him in a very firm tone to get the 'F' out of my house. He continued his rude insults. He lost the battle and left, which was probably the smartest thing he did. DO NOT TRUST IN THIS COMPANY! They are brokers who hire shady individuals to have copies of your keys and access to your possessions and family. To work as a locksmith employee or business in California, you need to obtain a locksmith license from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), which licenses and regulates the locksmith industry in the state. After 3 days trying to put the new lock set in myself I called for help. The last locksmith 3 years ago couldn't fix the old lock and still charged us for work lasting a few days so I tried to start over. Unfortunately, no locks fitted the old installation.
