Bought a used car 59 days ago. Paid 4500. The transmission is shot already. The car is junk. This guy has a 45 day window. Don himself admitted to me on the phone that he does not even know how to check or inspect transmissions. So its just a big guessing game. So buyer beware they don't really even know how to tell if the car is fine to sell to someone. he will sell you a piece of junk without a care. Shameful!!! Our Blue Ford Escape was involved in an accident on the way to church on Father's Day 2023. I called and got the sweetest receptionist, who answered all of my questions with a great response. The one who will forever be in my heart though is Brandy. He is a tow truck operator at Don's Towing and is as friendly as can be. He was so kind to me and we talked as if we had known each other all of our lives. He just doesn't know how much better he made my day last Tuesday. What started off as a dreadful experience quickly turned around for the better. It was such a great experience that I wish that I had hugged him before he left. I broke down on Saturday evening August 29th 2020 and they were so fast getting to me. I was sitting there with a 8 month old baby and they truly saved the day! The driver was very nice and explained everything as hooked the car up. The price was way cheaper than others as well. If I break down again I'll definitely use them again! Had to get a two early in the morning at 7:30. The truck was there within 30 minutes as stated by the phone operator. The customer service and tow truck operator were extremely friendly, helpful and prompt! I don't have roadside assistance or AAA and my bill was extremely reasonable for being towed in town to my mechanic. I highly recommend them and would call on them again for my towing needs. read more

My experience with Don's was a horrible. I was stuck in a snowy driveway (literally 3 feet from a plowed road) and needed to be towed out of a snow drift. They said it would take 90 minutes to get there, which I understood because the weather was bad and they had a lot of people to help. After the 90 minutes had passed, they were nowhere to be seen, so I called back. They claimed they'd tried to get to me but the roads were impassible. Here's an idea: if that was true, wouldn't it be a good idea to call me and let me know that? Anyhow, I then called another tow company in town who, despite supposedly impassible roads, was able to get to me in 30 minutes and have me out in less than 10 minutes. I then drove home with no issues on the "impassible" roads. They lied, didn't communicate, and were rude, and I will tell this to anyone who will listen. read more

Daughter had flat on I74 four miles out of Champaign. Couldn't get lugs loose. I Called and they told me they couldn't fix tire on interstate as it is unsafe. Made sense to me as my daughter described multiple cars and trucks not even moving over and was scarred. I agreed to a tow. They told me 15 to 20 minutes. After 40 minutes my daughter said no one there yet. We call, they say 10 more minutes. AFTER 1 hour and 5 minutes....still no one. We call and they say another 10 ...we cancel. We call nother company and they there in 20 minutes. I called Don's to let them know how unprofessional they were. They won't change a tire on Interstate as it is unsafe, but could careless about my daughter out there for over an hour, scarred. Never an update call, never really any concern and NEVER accurate on timing. I must say I called to Express how pissed I was and dispatch was amazing polite and seemed to care and never hung up on me even when I too became unprofessional. Perhaps just bad timing, but I wouldn't use them. read more

I was driving down 74 the other day. Before I had time to change lanes I run over a giant piece of metal. I continued driving to Urban-Champange regardless. I got off on prospect and drove to Meijer's. In less than 5 minutes the fire department was there because my car was gushing out gasoline. The fire department called Don's towing and I had it towed to a shop 5 miles away. When I asked how much this was going to cost me he told me the charge a different rate for calls made by the fire department. I was nervous. At that rate they would've charged me $120 but the guy told us he'd charge us their standard rate and only charged me $60. I would go through again if I ever needed a tow. read more

Got a flat tire on the highway and was told the tow truck would be there in 20 minutes. The tow truck didn't show up after 40 minutes so we called again and she said they would be there in 10 minutes. Another 20 minutes went by and still not there. Called again and said they were just leaving and would be there in 10 minutes. After sitting on the side of the highway for an hour and half without the tow truck showing up we went with a different company. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. Not loyal or truthful to their customers. Would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

Involved in a traffic accident that totaled my vehicle. Don's Towing was on the scene quickly and professional. The tow operator took time to talk with me and provided the necessary information. When to the shop to remove license plates, get personal items and do photos. The counter staff voiced concern about the accident and were more helpful than expected. The manager was on site and he went beyond expectations by his professional work and his overall 'good' guy. He allowed me a few extra days to bring in the title. Overall, a great company that I would recommend immediately for jump starts, any towing needs and other needs. The place is just off Harris St and the office was clean and neat appearing. read more

My van broke down while trying to get it to the shop. Called my road side assistance to get a tow truck. They called Don's and where given a 1 hour ETA. We (my husband, 3 kids and myself) sat there for about 35 minutes waiting for them to come. I got a call that they got a call from the police for a tow and that they weren't coming to get my van. They called my road side assistance and let them know that they weren't going to come so we were back to square 1 of getting a tow truck after sitting there for 35 minutes. Thank you so much for wasting 35 minutes of my time waiting on you for you to call and cancel! I really enjoyed sitting there for 2 hours before a tow truck came........ with my 3 kids in my back seat complaining about being hungry and sick of waiting! Too bad I had to give you a star because you don't even deserve that star! Next time, I'll emphasis to my road side assistance that they are not to call Don's towing! read more

Terrible! Towing vehicle on a flatbed(???) and had a dent in my front bumper and everything on seat and dash was on the floor. Rush to sign for pick up before I saw the dent in bumper. Please do a complete walk around your vehicle and check the inside before signing. read more
