They seem like they were friendly and professional. And said they would give me a free tuneup. So I returned. Because I needed struts and shocks all around then I had them install new high Performance Monroe struts and shocks.again very nice and friendly. Now I know why. They did halfway. The rear springs both sides were cut with a torch! And the struts were not new. No wonder they were so nice. But I was going to call them to schedule another oil change. They never called me back or responded to my messages. Because I without realizing what they did. Found out 1 1/2 later. So just case any mechanic is extra nice and friendly. We appreciated Danny, Darrell, and the local guys so much that we decided to stay a few more days after that! We were actually sad to be leaving. Laneys came highly recommended so I gave him a call. Got me in quick and performed the service by noon. His shop is clean which reflects favorably on any mechanic. He done a fine job. The only con was tranny fluid got on the crossover manifold pipe. It had to burn off which emitted a rather poignant oder. No big deal but a thorough review. To his benefit, GM did not engineer a drain plug on the pan so fluid spill is unavoidable. Good service.

Unfortunately they discovered that the front seal was damaged. He advised me that the rebuild of the transmission would be about $4000 , but based on age and mileage more than 250k he didn't recommend that. I really respected his honesty and advice. He could have tried to convince me to spend the money to fix it,but he didn't. That kind of honesty is rare in the auto repair business in my experience. He did give me some advice on how to keep the van running a bit longer and I appreciated that. I 100% would recommend this shop if you have transmission issues.

We also have dinner plans 6 hours away that next day and if we can't get this fixed quickly the next day we are not going to make it. We had this exact scenario happen along US50. The car suddenly starts slowing down on its own, we limped off the highway onto a (what seemed) remote road and pulled into a parking lot. Instantly I'm checking Yelp for towing services and repair facilities. I found that we were just a short distance from Athens Transmission. They were closed, but I made sure my vehicle was there waiting for them first thing in the morning. Patrick contacted me first thing, just before they opened. He said they should be able to take a look at it today. He asked if I was just passing through, which I was. I had a nice lady that was willing to drive us to and from our BNB and I didn't want to put her out. About 11am that morning Patrick called to let me know it was all finished and ready to pick up. I was stunned! I was already looking for car rentals or a Uhaul to drive home. He explained it was just a radiator hose and they had one in stock and were able to get me on the road right away. We are so grateful! I know they were busy, but they were able to squeeze us in and get us back on the road. What a team! We even made our dinner arrangements :) When I received the follow up a couple days later to check that all was well, I was even more impressed. A great team, friendly people, impressive service, and professional follow up. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Athens Transmission and their amazing service!

I've never took the time to leave any type of reviews before like this so that's saying something…read more Was getting four new tires and an alignment. Was told it would take about an hour when we first got there from one of the workers. Waited almost an hour and a half before they ever took the car back. Ok, that's whatever. Walked and got something to eat, came back over an hour later and thought it was done. Tires were already on the car but still needed to be aligned. Was told an hour possibly 2 hours for that. Sat and waited 2 1/2 hours before it was ever pulled in the garage to start that. That took literally no time. 10 mins max. So what should had took about an hour total ended up taking from 9am until almost 1:30 today. Which shit happens and people get busy, whatever. But when we go to leave we get about a mile down the road and the low tire pressure light pops up. Turn around and asked to check to see if they maybe forgot to recalibrate it inside the car and was told they did and that sometimes it takes awhile for the light to pop off. The light wasn't on at all when we got into the car, it popped up after leaving. Once that was said the owner tells one of his workers to go check it real quick. The worker then says they go by what's on the car door...At that point, was a little frustrated and said I would check them myself. Sitting in the parking lot we check all four brand new tires and every single one is no where near the recommended pressure and they were all different pressure. Our car is recommended 33/32. One front tire was 44 lbs, another 41, then the other 2 tires were in the upper 30s. After spending the whole afternoon for a simple job and spending$820 on new tires , at the very least they should have been the correct poundage! I mean it is a TIRE shop. Never apologized for the extremely long wait or anything. We will take our business anywhere else in the future. Total joke.
