Our room had a full sized bed and also a bunk bed. The amount of space was just enough for the 2 of us. The bathroom is a little small, specifically the shower but since we're small people it was fine. Check-in is contactless--they send you info on how to check in and where to park the day before your arrival. I really appreciated how fast they responded to requests and concerns. I texted them twice about a light bulb and also about the door code not working and someone was there to fix both issues within a few minutes. Also, the breakfast spread in the morning was really good! They had a coffee machine, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, granola bars. In addition there was an also a different burrito or sandwich plus pastry for us to grab each morning.

Situated near Donner Lake, the Inn is perfectly situated to be close to the famous Donner Historic Park (just a few minutes up the freeway) and also the beautiful Donner Lake beach area. There is also a great little pub across the street from the beach area, too. Downtown Truckee is also just a few minutes down the freeway. And, although it wasn't snow season yet, it's also close by the Donner Ski area. The property as some parking spots that are convenient to the lodging rooms. The family run lodge has no-frills style breakfast take-away items - such as boiled eggs, yogurt, granola bars, and also some featured made items (scones and breakfast burritos), but be aware it's available from around 7:30a (and our hikes had us leaving earlier than that). The rooms are "self-check" style, so be prepared to read your follow up communications from the managers w/your check in process. The rooms are simple but clean - featuring a controlled temperature stovepipe style fire place and window seat overlooking the forest behind the lodge. There is also a small stream on one side of the property. All-in-all a great spot that's convenient and less crowded and less-pricey than most spots in the Truckee area and the rooms are quaint and rustic but nice, too.

It's got 90s summer camp vibez! Lodge cabin, warm wooden rooms, games and a river right outside. The lodge has a lot of great areas to relax- a big bar area, large seating rooms, a "mess hall" for meals. There are about 30 rooms on site. They vary in size and amenities. Some share outdoor bathrooms, while others have one inside. We stayed on-site in one of the rooms on the third floor that had its own bathroom inside. The rooms are very rustic. The bed was definitely a little old and squishy and the shower was like an outdoor hose, but it did it's job and honestly, the ability to stay on site during a wedding weekend is such a treat! Everything was so central to just hop back to your room between events, which is such a rarity on a wedding weekend. The grounds themselves are gorgeous. We got to enjoy a welcome event that was spaced both outside and inside on the first night. The bride and groom decorated the space with camp themed vibes and it was the perfect environment. On wedding day, the ceremony was held with a beautiful view of the trees and river as a backdrop- truly incredible! The space was flipped for the reception but dancing moved upstairs to the deck. There are a lot of stairs at this venue, so it is not ADA friendly if that is a concern. We truly had such a wonderful time and the wedding was so much more special being able to spend so much time with the bride and groom on site throughout the entire weekend.

We had contacted them ahead of time about a late check-in, and when we arrived, they had already made our keys and left them under the mat for us, which was convenient. They were extremely nice and friendly! Our room was all the way at the bottom of a rickety little boardwalk and down some old, shaky stairs. Which is okay, but made me wonder how the rooms were as clearly there had been no maintenance done on the outside of this lodge... As we walked down, we noticed that pretty much everyone had their windows open, and we could see directly into their rooms with people lying on their beds. Once we got into our room, we understood why...it was around 100 degrees inside! There was no air conditioning, just two fans running at full speed with the window open, and it was still unbearably hot. We could barely tolerate it. The carpet throughout the room was extremely sticky, to the point that I wouldn't even take my shoes off. The shower in the morning also wasn't very clean and was generally pretty gross...wore my flip flops in... I think this place could actually be decent with a few improvements. Replacing the old, sticky carpet with hardwood or another easy-to-clean flooring, giving the rooms a thorough cleaning, and adding air conditioning or even a mini-split...would make a huge difference. Unfortunately, as it is now, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Here are a few specific points. * The staff is very friendly. They are happy to answer questions and make our stay pleasant. * The rental shop is very convenient. I rented snowshoes for both the days. The person renting them (I forget his name) seemed very knowledgeable about the equipment and also about where I can go snowshoeing around there (walking as well by driving a little further away). I was not sure if I needed the equipment for both days, so I rented twice, each day for $20. At checkout, the staff (Cassandra) gave me a discount of $5 as the second day would have been $15 if I had rented for 2 days. I appreciate such understanding from them! * The food is wholesome and delicious. I eat vegetarian and they had enough choices. * I like the community and volunteer feel of the place, and don't mind doing the chores (1 chore a day) while I am staying there. It is a great way to meet and talk with other guests. It also make the price very affordable, which I like about this lodge. * There are many trails around the lodge and many snow sports to do. You're surrounded by a great, down-to-earth crowd, and it feels like a true mountain community rather than a typical hotel. The staff were outstanding across the board. Everyone was helpful and welcoming, even with the challenges of the storm. The biggest highlight for our family was the food team. Our son has a dairy allergy, and they went above and beyond to accommodate him. They clearly communicated which foods were safe, and on multiple occasions prepared separate options just for him. That level of care made a huge difference for us and gave us real peace of mind. A special thank you to Juan, who was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. From assisting with the reservation, to coordinating with the kitchen, to being a consistent and reliable point of contact, he made everything smooth and easy. We arrived shortly after check-in time on a Wednesday and were able to get our keys without too much trouble, although the lady that was checking us in didn't seem too suited for customer service - she gave off sarcastic, "I don't want to be here" vibes. Our room itself was cozy, clean, and comfortable. Some of the items could have been better stocked before our stay, such as the tissues - I think we only had a few of them in the box so quickly ran out and had to request housekeeping bring more the next day. Housekeeping isn't done daily so you do have to request it manually if you need anything. There were a couple of water stains on the ceiling but nothing too major. All toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion, and hand soap are provided and the quality is actually pretty decent. I was very impressed with the complimentary breakfast included in your stay. You have hot items like eggs, potatoes, and sausage as well as cereal, muffins, bread, oatmeal, and a waffle maker. The hot items rotate, too, so you don't have the exact same breakfast each day of your stay. Staff was friendly, and the common area was very comfortable with a fair amount of seating. I believe coffee is also available all day. There was a power outage during our stay that lasted around 6-7 hours but luckily it happened in the middle of the night so most people probably didn't even realize it and it didn't impact our stay at all. I just happened to notice when I woke up in the middle of the night and noticed lights not turning on and some electronics not working.

We had lunch at Jack's and we were looking for hotels on the internet and came across Gravity Haus. They had a promotion going and a one bedroom suite was $140.00 for Monday night Oct. 7th. I showed the promotion to the person at check in and was told there are none available. I showed him my phone saying there are three available. He found one for us. (Monday Night!) He asked if we had had a pet. (They advertise heavily on pet friendly rooms.) He told me there is a $50.00 pet fee. The room was nice but definitely not four star!! No closets or safe. Had a fridge and microwave but the sink is a bar sink !0"x10" and the faucet leaked. The TV in the front room was straight out of the nineties with two remotes, one for cable and one for ??????. Never did get it to work. Used the TV in the bedroom and it was fine. The bed and bedding were amazing. Bathroom shower was warm and then a blast of burning hot water. Tile was older with not clean grout. Furniture seemed a bit miss matched. Balcony view of the busy road All in all it was just okay. Can't comment on the restaurant or services as most everything was closed on Monday night. Checked out around ten the next morning and they charged me $191.20 plus fees and taxes, even charged tax on the "pet fee" Total for a one Monday night was $288.41. I called every day for four days asking for a manager to call me so I could discuss the charges. Was promised the manager would call back. Never happened!! Very shady business practice. You decide, is this where you want to stay when visiting the Truckee area ??
