Donna's Pizza may be the heart of Old Palisades Park and holds a special place in my heart. We're regulars, and the vegetarian pie is always our go-to. The crust? Hands down, the star of the show. It's got that perfect balance of crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside - honestly, I could just eat the crust alone and be happy. (And I'm not even a crust person!) The ingredients are always fresh and I love their combination of veggies in their vegetarian pie. I always ask to replace the eggplant with mushrooms though (I don't like eggplants.) They are extremely generous with portions. With 8 slices in a pie you can comfortably feed 4. A steal! There's just something about this place that feels like home, and every time we order, it's like we're getting a little taste of comfort. Probably stems from the nostalgia from my school days where my friends and I would hang out after grabbing a slice or two. It's a kid wallet friendly place and serves awesome specialty pies. They have other Italian staples like pasta and subs. Recently, I tried their meatball and tortellini soup. It was so good!!! (Local tip: their Sicilian pizza is also really good) If you're ever in the area, don't miss out on Donna's - it's the kind of place you'll find yourself coming back to again and again. They don't make places like this anymore. You get speedy service at the counter.

Ordered calamari, chicken parm with spaghetti and a plain slice for my toddler who loves pizza. Picked up food which seemed fresh considering how hot everything was. Spent about $40 which ultimately went down the drain. Calamari was okay tasting, a little chewy.. but there was just something off about the red sauce. Even my son only took a couple of bites of pizza and left the rest which he never does. Chicken parm wasn't very flavorful and the sauce just left an aftertaste like it had been in a container for too long. A shame cause it actually looks really good. Pics are after we finished cause we just didn't want to continue..

Located right on the main ave with street parking, indoor seating only and decent pricing. Had a gathering after our last soccer game of the season. Owner had reserved a nice seating section for our group (called a few days prior). Pizza was fresh, indoor room was perfect for our group of adult and kids and the pricing was just right. Thanks Donnas!

Great pizza!

I stopped in to check this pizza spot out and it turned out to be great. This place has been there since 1965 when things were very different in the area. The pizza though took me back to the Bronx in the 60's and 70's when the pizza was so good it made you want to eat a whole pie. The crust was delicious toasty and chewy at the same time with so much flavor. I just happened upon this spot by accident and now it will e my go to spot for pizza. We met the owner while there and he told us about how when they first opened people used to be out in the street socializing and enjoying the company of neighbors. I remember those days and I truly miss them. Nonetheless, I will be back!

#6. Turkey and Provolone Sub with pepperoni
Cris K.

You haven't had a true Italian American sub without having walked in Donna's. Don't let the rundown and outdated appearance without a proper menu on the wall fool you. The recipes are original as they get and true to ones that have made this institution last as long as it has (55 years). My sandwich was loaded, dressed up with lettuce onion and tomatoes generously, and eons better than Subway or any sandwich franchise place can ever make.

Worst place ever. Rude and arrogant. No reason to pay for bad service when there are plenty of options nearby.

Minimal issue granted. Ordered fried calamari , rice balls , fresh pasta with red sauce and breaded chicken As I went to the bathroom I've noticed that the chicken was in a Ziploc bag, fully cooked breaded Ok so that's one issue you're not taking care of the chicken who knows how long it's been sitting out there I asked the owner when was that chicken cooked? He Was baffled and said every day. I had counted at least 20 chicken cutlets, and that Ziploc bag just thrown on the counter. Calamari comes out small portion cut sizes were horrible like a shoe string soggy , rice balls were really good now comes to my pasta overcooked swimming and tomato sauce that had no taste Yes, the tomato sauce homemade I can tell but no taste. And best of yet the chicken cutlet soggy not crispy placed over my "fresh pasta" horrible experience shared my feedback with the owner and asked if I'm a chef yes, the Guy From from Dave & Buster's I've worked in many restaurants from Good to bad I know exactly what I'm talking about and I have had really good fresh pasta this place is a fraud !! I noticed that Mavi's has installed wall mounted televisions, which scroll menu items, specials, and upcoming events. This was my first time ordering from their brunch menu and it was outstanding. My Western Omelette (ham, onion, mushroom, pepper, egg, potato, arugula, almond slices) was an excellent choice. Every ingredient was fresh, the eggs were fluffy, and it was accompanied by a side salad and two large slices of multigrain bread. The other items were the artistically presented Avocado Salad (Avocado, tomato, onion crisp, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, arugula mixed salad, almond slices with balsamic glaze and sesame dressing) and the Toowoomba Shrimp Donkatsu (crispy, golden-fried cutlet smothered in a rich, creamy, and spicy Cajun Toowoomba sauce with shrimp, onions, and mushrooms, served alongside a half-portion of pasta). This dish is succulent, creamy, pleasantly spicy, and thoroughly enjoyed. I'll never dine at Mavi's without ordering a Kimchi Bulgogi Pizza (tomato sauce, mozzarella, onion, mushroom, bulgogi beef, kimchi, scallion, spicy mayo drizzle). Not only does every ingredient dance in your mouth, but the soft beet infused crust makes this one of the best pizzas I've happily savored.

I was excited to finally order dinner after hearing good things, but my husband and I were unfortunately disappointed with the experience. We ordered takeout for dinner: Toowoomba Shrimp Pasta with Tonkatsu and the Spicy Original Tteokbokki (rice cakes) with Fried Kim-ma-ri (fried seaweed rolls). The shrimp pasta had good flavor but the portion was way too tiny. After only three or four bites, it was gone. There were about 4 pieces of shrimp in the entire dish and they could've added more pasta, given that it's not an expensive ingredient. The tonkatsu was also underwhelming. It was a small piece served in a large container that made the portion size look even more skimpy. I was also disappointed in the tteokbokki. It was mostly sauce with no egg and only a few pieces of fish cake, again served in a container that was far too large for the amount of food provided. The kim-ma-ri pieces were fine but also very small. Overall, the meal was underwhelming. For a total cost of nearly $50, the quantities were just way too small. We were left feeling unsatisfied and still hungry.
