We came to Sorrento Italy for a bow renewal and we were able to come to the welcome dinner at Donna Sophia. They were able to accommodate 30 of us. We also had children a part of the party. They were very accommodating in regards to what the children can order and we were offered a prefix menu. My husband ordered mixed seafood black squid in pasta, which was amazing. It also had a little kick to it. I ordered the almond crusted fish, which was pretty good. It was lacking a little bit in flavor. However, I did really enjoy my first Hugo spritz in Italy and the espresso martini at this restaurant is so divine. My Husband really enjoyed the tiramisu and I also had this wonderful dessert which was a sponge cake with a lemon cream. this facility had Donna Sophia all over the walls which was so charming.

The service at Donna Sofia was incredible from the moment we walked in as a family of 8 from New Jersey. It was high touch, with the best care from our servers, who selected the most delicious appetizers, and we ordered beautiful mushroom salad, first and second course meals which included truffle ravioli, steak, veal, and fettuccini. We sent every dish back clean. The owner and head chef came out personally and asked how we were liking things. The whole team was beautiful and so kind to my family. I highly recommend if you want a top tier service and dining experience. The place is classy and gorgeous! Don't miss it.

We stumbled upon this place while wandering around Sorrento. It was packed, but we asked for a table for two and we waited five minutes before being seated. The inside was warmly and dimly lit - not too dark, just enough to give it a romantic atmosphere. The walls are decorated with shots and stills of Sophia Loren. The entire time we were waiting to order or waiting for our meals, I kept hearing people say "that was awesome" or "this is delicious", and when our meals finally came, we had the exact same reactions. The cacio e pepe was hands down my favorite meal in the two and a half week trip to Italy. It was creamy, it was spicy, the noodles were delicious, it was perfect. The lasagna had my fiancee reacting the same way, it was so fresh and hot and absolutely delightful. The service wasn't the best. The staff were efficient and tried to be attentive on a busy night. Our server took our drink and meal orders, two primis and one segundi, and everything was great. But while waiting for the segundi, it just didn't come. Three servers came up to us while we were waiting for about 20 minutes or so, asking if we were finished and wanted dessert. We told all of them we had another plate coming. We kept trying to flag down our waiter and make eye contact but he was serving two other tables dutifully. When he finally came over, my fiancée asked for it to be boxed and for the check, and he said "No, the segundi is coming." Long story short, he boxed it up, we paid and had a nice night overall. I would definitely come back here as the food was so delicious and I'd love to try more plates, but take it with a warning - a few other reviewers also said the service was subpar.

My girlfriiends and I visited Donna Sofia twice while in Sorrento. The food and hospitality from the owners Mario and Lena was unmatched. The place was packed with happy diners both nights. We all enjoyed every dishe we ordered. The calamari was fresh, light and delightful. Other great dishes were spaghetti and clam sauce, breaded sea bass, delicous sauteed spinach, and more. Mario even sent over a complimentary pizza, which was amazing. You cant go wrong with a meal at Donna Sophia.

Very disappointed with this meal. Upon walking in, the atmosphere seemed very promising but unfortunately did not live up to my expectations. The Donna Sofia appetizer was the highlight of the meal by far. Whatever the pumpkin thing was, it was really good. Onto the entrees--really was not a fan of the truffle ravioli (it was a special of the night). I enjoyed the crab ravioli more but not by much. What really rubbed me the wrong way was an accordion player walking around the restaurant after "playing" (tapping along a few times to background music) trying to guilt customers into a tip. I literally witnessed him stand at the table next to us for over 3 minutes and just stare at the people until they eventually caved and gave him a tip. And then after this guy left, a man with flowers entered the restaurant with flowers and began approaching tables. What are we in NYC???

Food and service were both ok. Based on reviews, expectations were higher. Odd was the moment when a musician (accordion) arrived and played two songs then proceeded to shake down customers for tips. This was followed by another guy selling flowers. Kind of bizarre that the owners would allow their patrons to be subjected to this while dining. Definitely brought the atmosphere down IMO.

Ambiance is good but service is not! You might have to wait for a while to be seated even tough if you made a reservation. Very good wine selection and a wine cellar. Check out their wine cellar, it is an experience. Food; lasagna was good especially the tomato sauce was very delicious. I wish it had more meat. Braised beef is actually a rack of cow! I think there is a mistranslation and It is misleading. Taste was OK nothing special. Most of their pastas are above average but nothing spectacular. Didn't try the pizza but it looked good from the distance. Very Neapolitan.

Those who didn't give a five star I doubt has the berries and cheesecake

Wonderful atmosphere Great Sophia Lorenz pictures The lasagna was excellent The cheesecake with berries to finish the night

Food and ambiance were nice but hostess was extremely rude. I've been to Italy three times and this first time I have ever been pushed out of the restaurant by the hostess so to seat another group. We were at the table for less than one hour and still finishing after dinner drinks. Disappointed by the service!

Was looking forward to this dinner because of all the good reviews but I'm not quite sure as I felt…read morethe food missed the mark and didn't compare to some of the other Italian food I had this trip. I made a reservation on Google but when I showed up, they didn't have our reservation, apparently they rejected the reservation which is crazy because I'm so used to just making the reservation online and it's automatically confirmed whereas this place indeed sent me a rejection email earlier in the day saying they couldn't confirm the reservation - not something I've ever experienced before since I always just assumed when you make the reservation on Google, it's already confirmed automatically but I will definitely pay closer attention to my emails in the future. Luckily they were able to fit us in but said we had to be done eating in an hour which was fine with me as we weren't trying to have a long dinner. I got the mixed seafood grill and most of it was dry and slightly overcooked, not much flavor. The grilled vegetables were just the cold appetizer grilled vegetables. The homemade pasta with sausage was alright but not amazing. The ambiance was a nice family restaurant with live music. Kind of tucked away down a side street in Sorrento, but close to our hotel. Our waiter was really friendly and funny, that's the only reason I'm giving this four stars as the overall meal was probably closer to 3 or 3.5.

We popped in after a long train ride. We ate inside, and enjoyed reading the reviews graffitied all…read moreover the walls. The food was incredible. To start, we had burrata, bruschetta and mixed salad. All were good. The salad was fresh and crunchy (with lettuce, fennel, radicchio, carrot in a light vinaigrette). The sun-dried tomato bruschetta was delicious (with soft cheese, drizzled with honey). The burrata was also amazing (tomatoes tossed in police oil and salt, surrounding a fresh creamy burrata). We had pastas (gnocchi and ravioli fungi) and chicken. I had the ravioli, which was delicate and scrumptious. Everyone enjoyed their meals, though the chicken was very simple. Finally the service! We were greeted with warmth and the service right through was perfect. Thank you!

Every bite was AMAZING. The servers and staff that we came in contact with were wonderful and attentive. The place itself is nicely decorated, and has a very clean bathroom. I like how staff stays by the door to welcome people in, but they don't badger people on the sidewalk to come in like other places. We're thinking of going back even though we only have a night or two left in Sorrento, it was just that good!
