I have trained at Grandmaster Dong's Harbour Pointe with my daughter for approximately 6 years now. Throughout those years it has been an honor and privilege to be instructed by and train with so many wonderful people. Grandmaster Dong continues to update the curriculum regularly, continuing to fine tune his system and continues to teach regularly, sharing his knowledge and experience with his students. Master Dickens and his instructors at Harbour Pointe are wonderful and patient with all of their students whether they are young children just starting out or older Black Belts advancing to higher levels of training. I started attending to have something to do with my daughter and so that she could learn a little about how to defend herself, i now stay for myself as much as her as i have found a place at Dong's where i feel that I belong. I often tell parents that this isn't like any other activity that kids take part in like baseball, soccer etc. Sure you can coach their soccer team but martial arts is something that you can share entirely and do together. ever since my daughter started here roughly 2 -1/2-3 years ago she has grown so much as a person. Her empathy for others, responsibility and disipline to just name a few things is amazing. The staff and especially Master Dickens are so great with the children. they are taught respect and respect of others which in these days that's hard to come by. she encourages her friends to join as well. Changed our son's life. This is a great place to learn not only martial arts but how to improve self-esteem. My son goes here and has greatly improved his discipline and self-confidence. I am a student here and all people here are great! The teaching is wonderful. You practice 2 times a week and have a good time. Everything is very serious so do not expect to play around. It takes about 4 years to get your black belt. There are 11 belts and 2 schools. I reccomend it for 7 & up that way they know how to act. read more

GrandMaster Dong's Advanced World of Martial Arts is the best in the area for Tae Kwan Do. No where else can you get instruction from a 9th degree GrandMaster in person in Virginia (or even most of the east coast). The classes are well planned and are appropriate for every age range. read more

Dong's is awesome! I've been going since I was 5 years old and I almost have my 1st degree black belt. The instructors(Mr. Mitchel, Instructor O'Neil, Master Thompson, and Instructor Carlton) are very nice and very patient. They know a lot about Tae Kwon Do. I like learning my forms the best. The school is very clean and every person who goes there is nice. I am currently a Bo-dan belt (a white with a black stripe belt)and I'm testing in October.
