This company doesn't really care about taekwondo. If you show up and stand on the mat, you get your belt. My son always complains about this participation trophy mentality because he tries really hard. I didn't really care until it came time for black belt. Right when you're about to get black belt they surprise you by springing a $600 fee on you even though youre in a 3 year contract for ALL the belts. They never cared about taekwondo the whole time but now that it's black belt there's all this fan fare and it cost $600. It's extortion. They know the kids will be devastated and they use that leverage to extort a final $600 from us. Since I have three kids, it would be $1800 for them get a black belt. It's a disgusting plot by Mr. Lee And I hate it and I would never do something like that children. If they make it all the way he should be handing them a damn black belt just like he handed them all the other belts - with not a care in the world about taekwondo. read more

Wow! I wish I read the reviews before I signed my kids up. They are definately all about the dollar and could care less about you and your kids. I moved to the area and was looking for a place that I could trust having my kids where they can have a great martial arts experience and get all the positive components of taekwondo while making sure they are genuinely cared for. The sales pitch from the manager is just that, a sales pitch. She came across selling the summer camp and after school program like it was the best thing since sliced bread. I brought my kids by to tour the facility and they were in awe at the activities that they had to offer.The manager even gave her cell number so she can communicate with the parents accordingly "because she is soo dedicated." Come to find out it was all just to lure you in. Once I signed the contract the true colors came out. I let my kids complete the summer program, but ran into a situation that may have interfered with them continuing for the after school program. I sent the manager a text letting her know we may not be able to continue with the after school program and if she could let me know what the terms of the contract were if we didn't continue. She immediately cancelled the contract and snatched $1200 from my card on file (that didn't have that amount of funds available at that time) and then proceeded to respond to my text after the fact letting me know what she already had done and finished off telling me to not text her on her cell phone anymore. Regardless of what the terms of the contract were in regards to what fees I would be owed, I would think a half way decent human being that claimed to have been so caring would of at least called me and had a conversation first to see what was going on and at least try to preserve my business before she did anything. If she had called me and had a conversation to at least see what was going on I would of at least had the opportunity to say nevermind Ill just keep them there or proceeded with the cancellation and gave her another card to pay the cancellation fees that actually had the funds available. Needless to say, my account was over drawn and other important automatic drafts I had set up with other merchants got declined and I encountered multiple over draft fees. As a single mom this put a strain on things as this was just before the start of school and this took away from my budget for their school clothes and school supplies. But do you think they cared? Nope, all they cared about was the money. She didn't even care to say anything about missing the kids or wishing them well. Just... "don't text me on this number anymore." So if you love and care for your kids and would like to make sure that you are keeping them in the hands of good people in your absence. I highly advise you to look elsewhere. My favorite taekwondo place! Simply amazing - staff, location, experience, and everything!

My daughter was bullied by another student and physically hit on several occasions at the Hull St. location in Chesterfield, VA. When I brought this to the attention of the director Nicole she advised me that she was okay with my child physically defending herself against the other student Otis. When pressed to come up with a better solution for what was happening to my daughter I was told by Nicole that my daughter's after school care was terminated. They showed no care for my daughter and refused to even speak with the bus driver about what was happening in and off the bus. I trusted them with my child and they simply failed to protect her. They never even spoke to the parents of Otis. Dynamic Taekwondo and its director Nicole promote physical violence as a means of resolving conflict among children. read more

There are some great masters here but the owner isn't the nicest person. He was even ban from our Elementary school. Not sure he should be a role model. Don't let the act fool you I did and regret it. This business is all about the bottom dollar. We were there for awhile and the disrespect I was shown by Lee was shameful. He is manly focused on the after school program since that is where the money is at. If you choice to go here stand your ground and don't sign the contract. Everyone pays different amounts and have different contract lengths. Better yet go somewhere that doesn't have contracts since that is the sign of a business that can't keep customers. The contract only protects the business and not the customer so why sign one? read more

Both of my children (8 yr old daughter and 5 yr old son) attend the afterschool program here. Master Lee has taken good care of us since day one, our nanny suddenly quit and we needed an afterschool program that could pick my kids up from school as my husband and I both work full time. I cannot say enough good things about the staff here. The afterschool teachers take great care of my kids and all Masters and Instructors are professional, friendly and truly care about all the children. The facility is a bit on the small side, but I really don't mind as my kids are really happy and have both learned many skills in six months. In addition, both have learned to be more polite and have more self control. I truly appreciate that their homework is done by the time I pick them up. I agree that the contracts are ridiculous and only financially protect the school. But for that, I would have given 5 stars. Everything else about the school has been great. The program itself is excellent. The Masters are impressive and work with the kids to instill the value of hard work, discipline and self control. They give lots of individual attention to the kids. Expectations are firm but reasonable. And even though they have expanded, Master Lee will learn your child. He knows names, gets to understand personality differences between sibs and tries to encourage each child based on that child's needs. He isn't always touchy-feely, but he is always courteous and respectful. I've never seen him be anything but unfailingly polite. Even when he is busy, he has stopped to address my concerns. The one time I expected push back(one child lost interest and I wanted to end his contract early), there was none. He just asked me to wait a week to be sure. read more
