tldr; why would you work out anywhere else? Absolutely love this rowing studio! The positive environment they have cultivated is like nothing I've ever experienced. The coaches, staff and other rowers make you feel so welcome. It's as if we are all on the same boat as the same team rowing together for that finish line. First time? Never been on an ERG (I don't know what it stands for either)? No worries! Just arrive 15 minutes or so before your first class and you'll get a 1:1 lesson! In some classes the coach will have the whole class break down their stroke movements so you can work on getting those little nuances that really improve your split time, like driving back with your heels and not your toes, and when to (not) bend your knees. This helps even the old hats because they can get lazy with their stroke movements, too. Celebration time happens in almost every class when someone hits a milestone of 50,000m, 250,000m, 500,000m, 1M, etc! Everyone cheers and the vibe just lifts you up. It's definitely made me a shed a tear from time to time it's so wonderful. read more

Stumbled across this spot on my way to Old Navy while in town visiting family. Stopped in to hear what they were about as it's been years since I was up on the newer workout spots in the Richmond area. Staff were friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and not pushy. They shared info on packages which seemed reasonable, but are a bit of a stretch beyond my current budget. Talked to staff about my weight loss goals and the possibility of adding rowing to my routine. Returned the next day for an early morning class which was pretty well attended. 85% of attendees wore masks and staff cleaned vigorously post class. Great workout that didn't kill me. Would do something like that again if I lived closer and if we weren't in the middle of a pandemic.‍ read more

Everyone should do a class just before they get married!!! Today was a special class dedicated to one of the RowHouse regulars who is getting married this weekend (Congratulations again Tracy!!) and the staff did a great job of making it seem like a special event, from balloons and rope lights during the workout to snacks afterward. It was only my third class and I felt like I was "part of the community" and was so happy to help support someone at such a great time. The class made me think that marriage is a lot like a rowing class. Parts of it are brutal and you don't know how you'll get through it. You wonder what on earth have I signed up for? I didn't think this would be so hard! But then you find your rhythm. You get into the swing with your partner (s). And before you know it, a great deal of time has elapsed and you've done more than you ever thought yourself capable of. Take a class, join the crew, we all get further together than we possibly could alone. Same for marriage as it is for class. So jump into the boat. You'll be glad you did. read more

I enjoyed my experience at Row House. A friend told me about a class she enjoyed so I decided to try it too. I went to a power class which mixed rowing with other exercises which is great for someone new to rowing. I was asked to come in a little early and Josh the instructor explained all the rowing positions and how the display machine worked. It was a great workout I'm considering coming in a few times a month to switch up my workouts with something new and challenging. read more

Although I really don't enjoy rowing a whole lot, I did like the format of this workout and the overall vibe of the place. The staff is really attentive and friendly, and the instructor made me feel relaxed and comfortable. I like how the class I took had a mixture of some weight lifting and the rowing. Not once did I feel like it was too hard to handle. I recommend this place to anyone who likes rowing and want to burn calories doing it. read more

OMG!!!!! If I could give them 5 stars, I would. Oh where to start. Rachel, co-owner was AWESOME!!!!! You got me signed in and explained everything. Just her personality alone was a VIBE! Then I met my Instructor - Amy! Another VIBE in and of itself. She PERSONALLY showed me how to use the rower properly. She explained everything in such a way that although I had no experience whatsoever rowing, I didn't feel like a fish out of water. IYKYK how some people can make you feel when you're new to something. I felt sooooo welcome during my first visit and class. My neighbor to the left of me made sure that I was Ok. My neighbors to the right made sure that I was Ok. Amy even checked on me through out the class to make sure that I was OK. What more can I say. I have already scheduled my next 3 classes and will sign up for the Unlimited Membership upon completion of my free week. I've found my new fitness workout. this woman was unprofessional and unhelpful. I called to cancel my membership in march. the lady said she would cancel it. she said "just do me a favor hun and send an email saying you want to cancel the membership. That was all I had to do. never canceled it. I paid off that card and hadn't used it since. 9 months later 800 dollars charged to my account and no email saying the fee was due at the end of every month. the only message regarding payment was the renewal of my membership today Nov 22nd. read more

What a fun workout! It's like a spin class, only using rowing machines instead of cycles. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and even if you've never sat on a rowing machine before, they'll get you on the right path. Great all body workout for all ages and fitness levels. I love the Row House. They help you learn how to row efficiently so you get a great workout. They also include strength training in between rowing workouts. You really feel like you've had a complete workout when you are done. The instructors are well trained and they continue to assist and work with you on any issues you need individual help with. I usually go to Amy's classes because she fits my schedule best. She is fantastic. I have also attended a class with Joy and Beth and they are well trained and great as well. I was referred to this studio by a friend and I am so glad I decided to try it out! Everyone is so nice and welcoming. They explained everything to me and showed me how to properly row on the machine. Kaicee was the instructor and her energy during the class kept me going, she was so energetic and encouraging the entire class. After the class they explained the different class packages and I decided to try the class packs they offer. I will definitely be going to more classes. read more
