I got to try this studio twice so far. If you sign up online through their website, the first class…read moreis free! This is also available through ClassPass which is a-maaaaaaaaaaaaazing! I got to try this the first time when my friend was subbing, and she totally kicked my butt. The class was a great workout on a Sunday morning and left me sore for honestly 3 days. She kicked my butt in that class. The second time, I took it with Christy. She was a such a fun and awesome instructor, really enjoyed her a lot! I think with my prior training and cardio workouts got me to keep up with her class and not stay sore for too long! (Thanks Alyssa for the heads up on these classes haha). I love how cute the studio is. Very clean and simple. The decor is small and adorable for the studio and provides pretty much everything that you need. Only need to bring your own towel and water bottle and you're good to go! If I'm actually in RVA during the weekends, you bet your butt I'll be taking a morning class again here!

Wanna burn 500 calories in 50 minutes? Go take a class! The first one is free on their app (linked…read morethrough their website) or there's a deal on Groupon right now. I would recommend the Groupon because you'll definitely want to go more than once! I had my first class with Christy, the owner, and already have my next two scheduled. The classes are small which is nice after the year we've had and it allows for one on one assistance from the instructor. After a fairly lazy pregnancy and recovery I needed and appreciated the extra instruction! With that being said I was nervous for my first class but Christy made it easy to modify the steps. I was still covered in sweat and burned 500 calories before I left. As a new client I felt super welcome and can't wait to go back!

My local YMCA (John Rolfe) closed recently and we don't really like Tuckahoe because it is usually…read moretoo crowded. So we checked out acac. This is a fitness Mecca! Here's my impression after the first week: Signing up for membership was challenging. The price we were quoted over the phone was different than what we were told when we showed up to join. And actually we had an appointment with the membership director and he was on vacation and everyone from membership was gone so one of the front desk attendants gave us a tour. They also gave us a pass to the weekend to make up for the debacle. When we showed up on Saturday we met with someone in membership and that's when the pricing changed because what we were quoted only covered 3 people. So we paid extra for the fourth and our fifth couldn't join because the cost of their membership was too high and she is a student (my daughter). She is 26 so that's why she has to have her own membership. I get it. Also the hot tub and rooftop pool is extra, so be aware. They also have a Recovery area that includes infrared saunas and cold plunge, plus a variety of other equipment. That's an extra charge too, but the first month is free so you can check it out. Other than that miscommunication, it's been pretty seamless. Every staff member I've encountered has been professional and super helpful. Kudos to the center for hiring great people. Any kind of exercise you could possibly want to do is under the roof of acac or at one of their other facilities. The classes and yoga studio is top notch. I've done a few classes and also yoga, signed up for the egym and have used the hot tub, sauna, plunge, etc., and it's all been good. It's only a week in and I feel right at home and motivated to work out every day. I still have so much more to try! I love that I can do something different everyday so I don't get bored. Joining acac costs more but so far it's worth it for us.
