The Ski Company usually has a few pairs of higher end demo skis (very gently used factory demonstrators) available and that's what we opted to buy instead for a price well below list. I have also bought quite a few pairs of skis for myself based on thier recommendations, and couldn't be happier. Prices are always fair. This is the only ski shop I will buy from in MI.

Contacted Velofix to assemble my Rad e-bike since local bike shops are overwhelmed and after I…read morefailed to put the bike together myself using Rad's video. Super happy that I did! At first I was kicking myself for spending to have someone else put together the bike when there are videos online. But it makes a world of difference to have a certified bike mechanic do the assembly. He was very thorough, and did a bunch of things I would not have known to do and the Rad video/instructions do not cover, like aligning the wheels and the brakes, checking to make sure that the frame was not bent during shipping, checking to make sure the spokes weren't loose, and so on. He had the specialized tools, waterproof bike grease, and all that for assembly. Rad does not send all the tools needed and my local bike shop did not have the right ones recommended. At the end, he gave an overview of how to ride the bike and waited while I rode around the block. He answered all my questions as a first-time e-bike rider. If you are going to spend the money to buy a decent e-bike, I learned it is completely worth it to have an experienced professional make sure it is in good working order. Excellent customer service!

There was a greasy chemical applied on one of the binding part, and one of the screws was missing. I called the store and asked for refund because this is definitely not a new product and defective product given one of screws was missing. The store representative said this is definitely a new product even if packagings are open. Also it is my fault for not being able to find a screw because screw must be inside of package. I explained i examined the box very thoroughly and the missing screw is not there. However, he said it must be there, and it is my problem for not being able to find it. He stated that i have to pay for the return shipping because there is absolutely nothing wrong with this product and this is a brand new product. The worst customer service I have ever received. Strongly advise not to buy any product from this store unless you want no customer service. Of note, i left similar review on instagram and facebook, and they blocked my account. I would not trust their positive reviews on those social media because they are blocking anyone who leaves bad comments about them.

I was allowed to try on several different types of boots until I finally settled on the pair I bought. Two days later, I brought my boyfriend in to their tent sale. They gave him the same time and attention, allowed him to try on several boots, look at several different pairs of skis, and allowed us to stay even after they closed. I did online research and called around to other equipment shops but no one was as helpful as Chris at Nicols. First, she answered my questions in depth over the phone, even calling the other location to see if they had was I was after. When I went to visit her in the shop, I felt like she was the first person I could talk to who really understood my skill level, and the equipment that would be best suited for me to improve. She took the time to listen to my experiences. When I told her about some of the runs I was trying to do at Boyne, she knew exactly what I was talking about. She was really supportive in answering questions about skis I found elsewhere. I really felt like she cared. I didn't get my skis here (went with an older model), but I bought my boots (Chris helped me pick them out) and had them install the bindings. The prices in the store seemed really fair. I expected them to be high for a specialty, in-store shop but that didn't seem to be the case. My husband made a special request and asked them if they would do the bindings same day. They said they would try (no promises) and ended up getting it done! They also carry accessories and apparel, like snowpants. I am so pleased to have found Nicols! I now have a go-to place in my neighborhood for equipment, gear, accessories, and apparel!
