Great selection of apparel, footwear, bags and outdoor accessories. I couldn't find a clearance section at this location. Mostly regular price. Bargain hunters will have a hard time looking for any red or orange tags ;-) Liked their Moosejaw printed design T-shirts. Saw brands like Patagonia, North Face, Arcteryx, Prana etc. Wasn't able to find Canada Goose winter jackets ;-( so we are going to drive to Nordstrom Somerset to check out the said brand. Parking is limited. So we had to park and walk from Papa Joe's. Service is ok. Friendly and helpful sales associates. read more

10/12/2021 Ordered an osprey rolling 40L duffle on Moosejaw.com. I received the backpack version that does not have wheels instead. Called customer service who contacted a gear wizard and was unwilling to send out the correct item despite the clear advertising on their website. Bait and switch. read more

Just stopped in quickly to get a splash guard for my nalgene water bottle. Keri (sp?) was so helpful, we were only in there for a totally of 5 minutes! She helped us right away and they only had two left so she told me which one was better and made sure I was happy! She was very talkative and friendly while checking us out! Made sure I left with a smile on my face! Also cute sign out front with silly saying read more

Moosejaw - Funny sign out front - Outdoor Gear Near Me - Birmingham, Michigan

www.moosejaw.com An online outdoor store where I found my Chaco sandals. Witty website and tons of Moosejaw garb - great hats and t-shirts. Similar to REI, but based out of Michigan. The Moosejaw staff consists mostly of wilderness trip leaders and backcountry experts. No stores in malls, just six standalone stores and a thriving mail order / online business. read more

Moosejaw - Outdoor Gear Near Me - Birmingham, Michigan

I've been in here twice. The first time, they didn't have what I needed, and that was that. No offer of something similar or somwhere I might look, just "no. sorry." The second time I stopped in, I was fully prepared to buy new shoes. It was Dream Cruise day, but we braved the insanity to stop in. No sign stated anything other than business. We were enthusiastically greeted by a gentleman who said nothing about being anything other than a normal business day. It wasn't a normal business day. At least I hope it wasn't. They were playing games, ordering pizza, throwing things around the store... anything but acknowledging customers. We stood at the shoes for at least 10 minutes without a thing from the staff. Needless to say, we walked out and won't be back. read more

When I went to school in Boulder, I could always spot Michigan kids because they would always wear the staple sweatshirt with "Moosejaw" written across the front of it.. Scoreboard: Viral Marketing:1 Mass Marketing:0 Everyone is hatin' on the staff- yikes. Every single time I have been there, the staff has been super helpful. They have even helped my mom pick out winter coats for brother and I (wow does that last statement make me feel like I am 12 again) when she had no idea what we wanted-- and they were hits. my mom also loves the witty e-mails they send her for being on the mailing list. and heck ya to Michigan businesses thriving elsewhere! read more

Moosejaw is awesome. Their employees are awesome, their website is awesome, their retail spaces are awesome, and even their catalog is awesome and very often hysterically funny! This is a company full of people who like to have a good time while doing their job. I've ordered a ton of climbing gear and clothes from them online - their prices are great and everything ships and arrives quickly - no complaints. I had an issue once when I ordered a crash pad that ended up having to come from the Birmingham location but I needed it for a bouldering trip I was taking in 4 days. I called them up and the guy I talked to was really cool about it and reassured me that he would make sure they put a rush on the order and would take care of it. Later on he sent me an email saying he called the shop to make sure it was getting shipped that day. It's the little things that make a big difference, and I'm a Moosejaw'er for life! Love the madness! read more

Not only does Moosejaw have a fantastic selection of clothes for the rugged outdoorsmen in all of us, they also make kick-ass hoodies and the most comfy pants to lounge around in imaginable. I personally love being surronded by crunchy hippies that actually know what they're talking about. I think they've come to accept that most of the people (like myself) that come in are just trying to stay warm in the winter and don't really care that the jacket they're looking at could save their life if they attempt to scale Everest but they tell you anyway and I appreciate the product that much more. Moosejaw also has a great return policy and if they can't exactly replace what you are returning, will go out of their way to find you something similar. read more

Overpriced and uninformed. The service is terrible - they know nothing about their products and try to sell you the most expensive gear. Loud music and trendy kids prevail. The reason for the one star - they periodically have good sales. Hey Matthew they sell Sigg at Whole Foods. read more

Warning: do not buy anything online from Moosejaw. Back in May (it's the end of july now) I ordered a pair of birkenstocks that I had been gifted for my first Mother's Day. I ended up choosing Moosejaw because of their current promo and lifetime return and exchange policy. The selection and check out was easy enough. A week or so later I received the sandals and was super sad that I'd ordered the wrong size. No biggie, I filled out the return/exchange form and sent them out. Three weeks later I received the same exact size. Annoyed, I emailed customer service and never got a response. I emailed two or three more times, and nothing. Now it's been months. Their chat feature is blocked on my computer so I called their phone number. The woman who answered sounded stoned and just really didn't care about helping me. After telling her the issues, she said: MJ: "yea, I guess we tried to call you and the phone just rang and rang." (No it didn't. I have a cell phone and voice mail, so the issue mustve been on their line) "So because we didn't get an answer we just refunded you." Me: "Uh, why didn't you just send me the correct exchange?" MJ: "I think we were out of them. Yea. Can I help you with a different pair of sandals?" Me: "No, I don't think so." (because like hell am I going to deal with this again.) I wont ever deal with Moosejaw again. So unhelpful, so unprofessional, so disappointed. Lame. read more

This is our favorite MooseJaw. We went to the other one in Troy. That one is ridiculously tiny. I think MooseJaw is becoming more popular. Our first time there last year the store was pretty empty even though they were having a sale. The salesmen are all very friendly and approachable. They have a wide variety. I always want to buy a new coat when I come here but I don't need to drop a couple hundred when I have a working winter coat. I did buy some wool tights to cover my legs (my coat goes to my butt). They also have a bathroom in the back. Score! read more

Rude and unprofessional. I won a pair of boots from them, and, to make a long story short, didn't get my prize. They were 100 percent unhelpful, and wouldn't answer my questions or concerns, and would not work with me to get my prize sent out, so I didn't get it. Unethical, deceptive. I looked them up on the Better Business Bureau site, and, big surprise, they have the lowest BBB rating possible, F. And every review on the BBB site of them is 1-star. Stay away. read more

I am distrustful of any place that is run (overrun?) with teenagers, but I do support this company for being Michigan-based and somewhat cheeky. Have you ever called the store? I always feel like I've dialed the wrong number, because those goofy kids are so goofy when they answer. MMmmmmmmmmOOOOOOseeeJAW! Just say hello, didn't your mama teach you that? Anyway...the merch is overpriced and the selection isn't the greatest, in-store anyway...but they do have sales that make the shopping experience more palatable. Customer service is also pretty good - they'll order items for you if it's not available in-store. read more

This place is so cool. I recently visited because they are awesome, giving people and donated several items to be raffled at our upcoming Senior All Night Party. But THEN... I did a li'l shopping of my own, and the sales guys were just so dang cool. And the stuff is well made, not ridiculously expensive, and well, cool. I felt like I was shopping with a friend of mine as our sales guy, Perry, was just the most chill, cool cat around. I will definitely be back. read more

Went to this location yesterday to make sure our backpacks fit us properly. Anya worked with us for over an hour and was so helpful, even suggesting that the packs we had were just fine. She knows her stuff and eager to share her tips on everything from packs to shoes to water and food. We will be sure to visit again when we need more help. read more

I love the emails.. first off. Oh and their advertising. I have bought my goretex coat from them (online because I no longer live in MI) and used their online help. They helped me to pick out the right size with great easy (because i use it for cycling in the winter, but I am a small lady, so I wanted to know what size would be good, especially when I layer up). My coat is great.. and it was on sale! :) I have been into the store once and I bought a baselayer so that I can stay toasty while riding in the winter. Granted it was a really expensive layer (I could have gone with a non natural fiber, but decided keeping it natural was the way to go). The guy who helped me (and chatted with my dad which is really nice that he didnt have to bored out of his tears) was REALLY knowledgeable, and showed me the cheaper patagonia stuff first. He was super handy and helped me determine if the size would be okay for the pants underneath jeans. The woman who rung us out was just as awesome. Would totally go back. read more

I love this store, the staff is friendly and the clothes are just what I was looking for. North face, Billabong, and many other quality brands. I got a sweatshirt with Detroit across the front and it's super comfortable. I will come back when I'm in town again. read more

Tried to do business twice at the Birmingham, MI store. The first time I couldn't get any help, in fact, I'm not sure anyone was even working there. If they were they were dressed inappropriately as they were indistinguishable with the few customers in the store. I then tried to call and was treated inappropriately on the phone. I will not give them a third chance. read more

I love shopping at Moosejaw, even if I'm only window shopping. Though this one has an awkward location, I appreciate that it is still centrally located and there are bubbly helpful employees working whenever I visit. I prefer shopping here over my local REI or Northface stores because of the atmosphere. They have it all figured out here. The employees are helpful. The clothing is overpriced, especially when I can go to Montana (my home state) and get it all for less and without sales tax. It is still a great store if you need random outdoor sportswear. read more

**Online Customer Service Review** The online sales and customer service leave much to be desired. After ordering a Merrell coat online and receiving a notice that it had shipped, nothing had arrived in over three weeks. I called to determine what the issue was, and the Customer Service rep deflected any sort of responsibility. She threw Merrell under the bus and informed me my issue lied with them (despite the fact that Moosejaw collected my payment). After I corrected her on what party is responsible for this mishap (with her continual attempts at interrupting me), she begrudgingly agreed to find out what had happened and get back to me. To no surprise, no one followed up with me and I had to call to find out what happened. I was informed that the product no longer exists and my card was refunded. After informing the rep that I was very disappointed that I (yet again) had to follow up, she said, "so, do you want anything else?" Looking to offer some constructive criticism to management, I asked to speak with her superior. She put me on hold and someone returned to the line five minutes later and said (with attitude), "Hello?"...I easily recognized that it was the same girl who put me on hold. She said management would not be available to speak. This was my worst online retail experience. What made it even more frustrating is that no one bothered to apologize or take on the slightest sense of sympathy for what happened. Additionally, I responded to a survey where I expressed my displeasure and checked "Yes" to wanting to be contacted...no follow-up. I felt like I was dealing with complete amateurs that possess zero business acumen and do not value future business opportunities...Part-time fast food workers offer more. I will never shop with them again, and recommend that people avoid their online shopping. read more

**This is about their ONLINE Customer Service** Do NOT ever order from this company! First off they put the wrong products on their website, so what you actually get is NOT what you think you've ordered. Managers are completely rude and cut you off. After the manager agreed to refund my entire purchase, including shipping, two weeks later I got a mysterious charge from this company on my credit card, I called in and the manager argued with me and told my Chase was wrong, they did not charge my card in which I was forced to get on a three-way call with Chase only for them to tell him, YES they did charge my card. The manager proceeded to argue with me about it and tell me how he was going to credit my card even though there was no proof on their end they charged me, AFTER JP MORGAN CHASE told him, YES they did charge my card!!! Since I never heard back from Moosejaw on Monday (as promised)I got on the phone with customer service manager, Aymen, who was EXTREMELY rude, saying things in the phone to me like "My god....how long am I going to have to deal with this" he was intentionally yawning, I've never dealt with such rude people. He then told me I would need to fax my bank statement in. I'm beyond belief right now. How this company stays in business is BEYOND me. read more

The last two order that I have made with MooseJaw have been wrong. First, the wrong color shirt. The second is much worse. Recently, I ordered a sweatshirt. A week later I received a backpack. I called to explained. They sent me a return label for the backpack and apologize for "the other shipping center". They also sent me the sweatshirt "Overnight" which I received 4 days later. I sent the sweatshirt back due to not liking the style. This was three weeks ago. I noticed that I still had the charge for the sweatshirt and a $7.95 shipping charge for the backpack. I chatted last week with a MooseJaw representative. They explains that they received the sweatshirt but not the backpack so will not be reimbursing me until they get the backpack. I found the original shipping label number for the the backpack. It's was delivered and signed for at MooseJaw over two week ago. What is going on over there?!?! read more

I needed some new hiking boots and did some research online, found that Moosejaw carried the ones I was interested in, and went to the store to try them on. Kari's expert knowledge and superior customer service blew me away. I was so glad I took her advise to try on a bunch of different boots to find what was right for me, she even ordered some they didn't have in stock just so I could have more options to choose from. I ended up with a pair I LOVE thanks to her great help! read more

I had honestly never been to this store until the Friends and Family sale was being promoted. We thought we would check it out as my boyfriend was looking for a new winter jacket, and I was just up for looking around. They are a smaller version of REI with a more personal feel (in my opinion). Although a bit upscale hipster-ish, we will be back for sure when we are in the market for this type of merchandise. And if you know anyone who works here, try to get in on that sale next time it rolls around. read more

I love this store. The staff is friendly and helpful, prices are competitive and the overall experience of shopping there is great. The best, however, is their customer service. They will stand by their products and either fix or return if needed. Thank you Birmingham Moooosejaw!! read more

My cousin and I are planing a section hike on the AT and went in to talk backpacks. We're total newbies and had a million questions. I would certainly go back for anything else we need for future adventures. Thanks so much, Anya! read more

I haven't been in a Moosejaw prior, but found a coat online and they ordered it for me in store to try on. The staff is very friendly with great customer service. Was treated like garbage by the manager, who couldn't tear himself away from the foosball table, when I hailed him to ask if he had the $600+ jacket I wanted to buy in stock.
