Rigatoni with bacon alla vodka sauce
    olivia h.

Sooo delicious and filling! I ordered Rigatoni with the Bacon Alla Vodka sauce, easily one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. I also ordered a slice of the Lemon cream cake and I cannot stop thinking about it- the cream filling was perfect the cake was soo moist. My only complaint was the small bread that I added to my order, for an extra charge

Ridiculous amount of crushed red pepper.

I am visiting Tampa from Miami. I searched Italian restaurants for my dinner. I ordered pasta with meat sauce and asked for it to be hot. They have a super hot option with a disclaimer such as "If your order super hot, don't complain that it is too hot to eat". As a Chef and in the F&B hospitality my whole life (30 years). The "Hot" that they used was simply crushed red pepper. A huge amount of it. I use crushed red pepper in all my home cooking because I like the heat, but when I want it to give more heat, I add other items, not just crushed red pepper. The amount of crushed red pepper wasn't even cooked into the sauce, it was just thrown on top. So I can only imagine what their hottest dishes look like.

Hmmm I ordered thru DoorDash... I asked for Panna cotta and I'm very sure I received a flan or they don't know what panna cotta is! I'm not saying it was horrible, however that was not panna cotta! The pasta was alright, something I could have made. They charged me for a small piece of bread... it didn't go well with the pasta since it was a bit sweet. I'm not sure if I should try again... but the second time going to the restaurant and see. I think they might have potential.

I can't believe i am just finding out about this place just 5 min away. It's take out only which I discovered when we arrived ready to sit and have dinner. Ordering takes a bit of thought, you order your pasta, then the sauce and finally the protein. I ordered the spaghetti with carbonara sauce, we also ordered the gnocchi with vodka sauce. Oh my it was YUMMO. The pasta itself is wonderful could eat it with just butter. You can buy a bottle of wine to too, all bottles $20. We will definitely order again from here. Next time i will post pictures of the food by the the time we arrived home the aroma of the food had us ravenous thus no time for pics.

We went around 5:30pm on a Saturday, there was plenty of parking and it was not busy. We met the owner, she had great suggestions, super nice and very personable. It is only take out but they package everything very well. The portions are good and a lot, we would have left over tomorrow. The gnocchi with sausage and vodka sauce was really good. The pesto fettuccine with chicken and sundried tomato was really good, my boyfriend thought thag the sundried tomato was too overpower; me on the other hand loved it, love tomatoes!! We will definitely go back!

Dry awful rigatoni that tastes like old Ragu sauce. I also asked for extra dressing. Was terrible!

Really bad all around. This was $50 on Uber eats! I sent an email bc I'm really upset about the entire order. See pictures..... not even sure if this came from This restaurant bc the pictures we saw looked good! Very angry and hungry. We are now having soup from home!!!

Meat Lasagna with marinara sauce and a bread roll that came with it. The takeout container is about 4 or 5 inches in diameter, for scale.

I was looking around for good Italian food while I was visiting Tampa and saw that Don Rigatoni was close by to where I live. Since it's also a local business, and the reviews looked alright, I gave it a try. Like other reviews say, the place is small, intended for takeout. I ordered the beef lasagna, since it seemed like a solid choice. While waiting in the waiting area, there was a surprising lack of noise from the kitchen; there was something that sounded like a clothes drier in the back, but nothing that would suggest someone was actively cooking in the back. 10 or so minutes later, the lasagna came out. The lasagna was very small for a dish that cost 23$ (which had an additional cost for the marinara sauce by the way, something that seems like it should come with the lasagna). In addition, it wasn't hot; only warm when I opened the box about a minute later. It came with a small roll about the size of a computer mouse. The taste was mediocre at best, like something an amateur chef could make. To give the dish some credit, it was relatively filling. But for 23$, I expected a much larger portion or better quality food. Was very disappointed with Don Rigatoni, would not recommend.

I wasn't supposed to eat all of this in one go. Oops It couldn't be helped though! This was some of the BEST Chicken Alfredo that I've had in such a long time. Wow! I totally loved the toothy texture of the pasta and the creaminess of the sauce. The chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned too I also ordered a side chicken Caesar salad and they were not stingy with the shaved Parmesan which I appreciate. My waistline is in danger but I don't even care. I gotta try more dishes from Don Rigatoni

I have spoken with the owner and she has handled the situation very kindly. We will be meeting this week hopefully. I will leave a better update after the meeting. She is kindly going to show me the kitchen where the food is made. Unfortunately I am less then impressed with this place. I ordered a vegetarian lasagna and let me tell you, it was the Marie Callender's frozen vegetarian lasagna being passed as "authentic" and costing twice as much with frozen spinach on top not even fresh. The garlic bread is the frozen coles from Walmart soggy and once again they are trying to pass it off as their own! Let's mention that the Alfredo and pasta was undercooked and hardly any sauce on it. I will not be eating this food this store lies and it over charging for shit quality that Walmart is selling at half price. Save yourself the money and go to Walmart the frozen section it's the same food!

    Ravioli Lobster

I felt for Italian food last week and read great reviews about this restaurant. I ordered through Uber Eats and was pleasantly surprised by the nice note on the package and the neatly packaged items. I ordered the house salad, lobster ravioli, tiramisu and bread. The house salad which for the small package had too many cranberries and the salad dressing was too sweet for my taste . The lobster ravioli with the principessa sauce was delicious. Raviolis were a decent size and fully stuffed with lobster meat. The tiramisu was delicious as well. The small piece of bread was good when I warmed it up and added butter.

Farfalle with cream sauce and broccoli. Sauce was very thin. Broccoli didn't taste fresh. Tasted like a lean cuisine dish.

We were a group of 5 and waited about 10 mins for a table (no reservations), but that gave us time to scope out the menu. The Luca Salad is not to be missed. It's got kale, romaine, radicchio, Marcona almonds, dried black cherry (YUM), and a cashew-balsamic dressing. This salad was a fan favorite with our group and I've been thinking about it since! In terms of the pizzas, we enjoyed the Sweet Baby Jane (tomato, house-made mozzarella, soppressata, and calabrian honey) with a thin "NY-apolitan" crust. We also got the Jess Knows Best pizza (truffle honey, goat cheese, mushroom, caramelized onions, thyme), but we got it with the "taglio" tall and fluffy crust. All of the crust options are made with naturally fermented sourdough and we were a split group on the favorite crust type. The toppings were a perfect blend of savory, sweet that hit every note we wanted. The pastas were -chef's kiss-. Our fave was the Creamy Tomato Vodka- which had a touch of heat, but totally doable for a heart-burn-prone gal like me. Lastly- we got the Limoncello Cake and the Tiramisu. MAKE A RESERVATION....You will need it…read more Piccola is a very small place. A few tables. And you need the reservation to get in as people do go all the time. The chef is the owner and even takes the order. The assistant cleans, and serves and handles the rest. Like stepping into an Italian family kitchen to see what is on the table for the night. And with the special menu of the evening, it is like you are stepping into the kitchen. With a reservation for 6 we were lucky to have the table. It is a BYOB so bring what you might want to go with the meals. A red wine is a good idea. As for the specials, it was varied. There are many options to have that are not on the menu. Even that is small. The chef does tell you what was the specials. He answers the questions and does describe what he is thinking. For 6 of us this gave us good options. Several were ordered, and some traditional was selected. We started with appetizers. Tomatoes and mozzarella was always a way to start. Classic. Mixed with a green salad and some extra cheese it is a good way to go. Garlic bread was a complement. We also had the rice balls stuffed with a small meatball combo. This is typical in certain regions of Italy, and each are different. It had a special sauce to top it and more bread. The sauce was good enough as a dipping sauce for the bread without the rice ball. As we ate the apps we drank the wines. Truly typical for an Italian meal. When the entrees came out it was time to shift things around. These entrees were a good size and freshly cooked. You can see the chef in the kitchen cooking each meal. This is a home kitchen. We had a few specials. One was the duck on the couscous. With the frech sauce and herbs it was amazing. It is not how you expect to have duck. It was definitely not Chinese. This was a fresh duck cooked and aged so that the flavor was ideal. The portion was large and the aroma amazing. Also had to have a very traditional pasta carbonara - pasta mixed in a garlic cream sauce with onions and pieces of bacon. A bit of peper and grated cheese helps. It is an old simple idea what what is always made in a family. There was also pasta bolognese, and even a pasta with sliced rib steak in a mushroom cream sauce. Very different. Once the meal was finished had to have espresso and dessert. The espresso was made the old way in a pot I still have on a the shelf and use. As for the dessert, we did have a lemon cake and a cake made with pistachio that was ground and had flavor that was not expected as a cream in a cake. It was exceptional. As the waitress mentioned, these cakes come from a bakery in Italy and are delivered. The taste and sweetness are typical of Italy and not of the US. Very Italian. The food is great. It is fresh, tasty, has a flavor and style that is unique to the chef. He can make a great meal that you will enjoy. It is typical but with a twist. The portions are a good size. The price is perfect. Bring your own wine and step inside. It is like being in someone;s kitchen. And make that reservation!

Off the top of my head I couldn't find Greek yogurt, cottage cheese or nut butter, but what you do find is spectacular. I arrived around 2:20 p.m. and was let in by a worker at the front door, who told me they were closing shortly and suggested I head to the deli first if that was what I wanted. Once I walked in, however, a cashier yelled to me that they were closed. I was a little confused because I had just been let in by a worker who knew I was coming inside. From there, the experience felt a bit chaotic. There were quite a few people in the store, and I felt like the workers were very displeased by my presence. I honestly felt like I was a bother. I completely understand that I arrived close to closing, so I tried to be respectful of their time and rushed through the store to grab a few items. I had driven an hour to get there, so I wanted to at least make the most of the trip. When I went to check out, I initially got in one line, and the cashier was finishing up with the customer already there and directed me to another line, so I followed her instructions. I had a basket with my items and wasn't sure if I was supposed to empty it myself. There wasn't an obvious place to leave the empty basket, and the cashier never indicated that she would take it from me. I apologized and explained that it was my first time there. She told me that next time I should come during the week so I could browse more. As I was leaving, I noticed so many people trying to enter the store and being turned away because it was now past closing. That made me think Mazzaro's may want to reconsider its Saturday hours. They are clearly a very popular and well-known store, yet being open from only 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and being closed on Sundays makes it difficult for people who work typical Monday-Friday, full-time hours to visit. I take responsibility for not checking the hours before making the drive, and I understand that the employees were probably ready to go home. However, I still think there is a difference between enforcing closing time and making a customer feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, I did not feel warmly greeted or welcomed during my visit, and it put a damper on the entire experience.
