Stopped by randomly and was NOT disappointed! 1) The prices are very reasonable, I read reviews complaining about this. Not sure what they expect to pay. I was actually a bit weary thinking the food might not be so good since the prices were low but I was convinced otherwise. 2) Food was simple but flavorful. There is no dolling up of the plate. 3) Hmmm, if you're truly Hispanic you know to buy tamales from "el Tamalero" or "la señora de Los tamales" and never from a restaurant. Great little brunch location by med center. Highly recommend for a breakfast or lunch break if your in the area. The green Chile chicken tamales are delicious and also my favorite but you have to get there as on some occasions they are all sold out. The coffee drink tastes amazing and also recommend any of the agua frescas (well maybe not the melon one). All in all, very great food place. read more

I was disappointed with this mom and pop shop. I was craving tamales one Sunday morning. I decided to check this spot besides the not so good reviews. First off, the prices for the food items were above average. Second, not that it mattered to me but I was the only Hispanic besides the workers there, there was nothing but non-hispanic patrons eating in the restaurant. Usually you know a place is poppin' when it's packed on Sunday morning with Hispanic families eating menudo and what not. I ordered 2 tamales (pollo verde/rajás como queso) and café de olla. The tamales were dry and tasteless af. I noticed that they use Colombian coffee for that which is new to me. I also thought it was weird that they gave me a side of salsa. Did they know it was dry too? 1 star for the Simpson's decor on the wall. This is definitely not authentic Mexican food, I don't recommend eating here. read more

Its a hidden gem especially for tamales, their breakfast tacos are really good and loved their chilaquiles are amazing. Service is very good but ambience not so much. Little pricy for the portion sizes and location, but would certainly recommend place. Couple of things didnt like were their churros and fresh squeezed orange juice and wouldnt recommend as churros seemed to be frozen ones just fried to order and juice didnt feel good for price they charge and to my taste. read more

I went for lunch with a coworker. We ordered a plate of chicken fajita and chicken quesadilla. The food was super fresh and barely any waiting time. We liked the Fajita plate; salsa, guac and pico de Gallo was fresh and tasty. The quesadilla could do better with some spices but it was cheesy and fresh. The churros were awesome as usual. Celebrating Cinco de Mayo early with a breakfast at a mom and pop restaurant at the 610/Stella Link area of town. Chilaquiles Verdes con Huevos hits the spot! I've been addicted to this breakfast ever since we came back from Mexico. It's a comfort food that warms the soul for me. We got Tamales Pollo con Salsa Verde and Oaxaquenos con Mole Negro. The Masa is excellent, finely grated and breaks apart nicely. Both Tamales are enjoyable to us. The beverages are amazing. The Cafe de Olla not only has the characteristic Cinnamon and Piloncillo, there's also a strong roasted coffee bean flavor that I love! I highly recommend the Cafe de Olla here. The Hot Chocolate is made with real cacao prepared fresh as we ordered. It's thick and rich with chocolate flavor. Sweet but excellent flavor and quality. I drove up to this little shop in a strip mall and started to have second thoughts So glad I went in to this spotlessly clean restaurant with incredible food. I took home 4 chicken, 4 bean and cheese and 4 jalapeño and cheese tamales with rice and refried beans. I also got a bag of the most delicious chips that tasted homemade with warm tomatillo sauce. I went on a Saturday morning around 10:30 and it was not busy at all. I had a small champurrado, two breakfast tacos - papas and chorizo, and a quesadilla de rajas con papas. Quesadilla was delicious, with a nice and thick tortilla. Tacos were good sized and the chorizo was very tasty. Champurrado wasn't as sweet as I was expecting but was good and hearty. I also really liked the green salsa that came with everything. It was thicker than most green salsas and had a strong roasted peppers taste. Service was friendly, the place seemed clean and I'd go back to try some of the other items off the menu, like the tamales (can't believe I forgot to get tamales when the place is called Tamales Don Pepe lol) and I want to try the huitlacoche quesadilla. read more

I am really confused as to how this place has 5 stars. I was really excited to order from here because of that. We ordered 8 breakfast tacos and a dozen of pork tamales. See attached photos of the tamales. It was ALL masa and only 2 pieces of meat in the entire tamale. I thought maybe, just maybe it was a fluke. So I opened the rest and nope, it was intentional. It literally was the worst tamale I have ever had in my life. If you are going to have the word Tamale in your name, you should at least make a good one. As for the tacos, they were just okay.
