I had heard about The Halal Guys for years but somehow never had the privilege of trying it, mostly because this cart is usually packed. We walked straight up and, to our surprise, it was fairly empty-- clearly our lucky night. We ordered the chicken sandwich with everything and the beef platter with yellow rice, and OMG... it was incredible! These guys are clearly commanding the halal food scene, and after finally trying it, I completely understand the hype. The food was flavorful, satisfying, and exactly what we needed at that moment. There's something about eating a great late-night meal straight from NYC food cart that just hits differently. I will say, my sandwich was VERY spicy. And i love spicy food, but this was another level haha... My entire mouth was on fire. The funny part? I literally could not stop eating it. It was that good. Sometimes the simplest food, at exactly the right time, becomes the most memorable. This was definitely one of those moments. Now I get the hype!

Get both the green sauce and the spicy red sauce--they elevate the entire dish to another level. The portions are HUGE, there's plenty of meat, and the prices are incredibly affordable for how much food you get. The combination of flavorful rice, juicy chicken, and those sauces makes this seriously satisfying street food. I can't wait to go back and try their lamb! Service is quick, but be prepared for a looooong line. We went around midnight and still waited about 30 minutes, which is apparently a relatively short wait here! It's a classic NYC halal food stall, with no-frills street-food vibes and food that absolutely delivers. Come hungry, get both sauces, and don't let the line scare you off!

It also smelled heavenly. We decided to keep the good vibes going after the most fun night - BTS concert - since this was near our hotel, we got in line around 11:30pm? They're open until super late. Didn't even spend that long in line to be honest, or maybe I just didn't mind the wait? When you get closer to the front, the line splits into two - not sure what the system is logically but it does help with ordering faster. We got one platter for 2 people - Mixed Platter which includes rice, lamb, chicken, and a slice of pita. You also have the option to pile on some crispy french fries (why would you reject fries) and get a drizzle of various sauces. I very intelligently opted for the hot sauce on the side, and was so grateful for that because it does pack a punch! Gosh, this was so delicious. SEASONED, and everything on the plate mixed together so well in one bite. Also an excellent portion that would definitely last you at least 2-3 meals if you got it for one person. I'm for sure going back next time I'm in Manhattan.

Half the spots nearby had already shut down or had lines I wasn't about to stand in, and this truck was right there, lit up and moving fast. Got the two-meat combo over rice. The guys inside don't waste time. I had my plate in a few minutes even with a couple people ahead of me. Chicken and beef both came out hot, and the rice underneath was fresh and fluffy. Ask for the extra spicy red if you want to suffer a little. Portions are big for the price. I walked away full and happy. Fries are the one thing I'd skip (they go soft quick), but with the meat and sauces all over the plate I didn't care. If you're out late and everything else is closed, this is the move. They open at 7:30 and stay open well into the night, which is exactly when you want them. I'll be back the next time I'm wandering around starving after midnight.

They open at 7:30; we were there just before 7pm, but a line started forming behind us after 10 mins or so. It was hot and L was drunk.. it seemed like an eternity. I heard them cooking and the smell was waffling outside but the truck was still not open at 7:30.. when they did finally open... we ordered the 2 meat combo platter and a beef chapli platter ...they still catered to some customers on the side before the people on the line. We tried a lil of the beef chapli a hr later. Salad was flavorful. Meat was nicely seasoned. Rice was soft and fluffy. I loved everything but didn't care for the fries. We got the white, green and hot sauce. The 2 meat combo was very tasty...even though we ate it 2 days later. I'd say this tasted much better than the other popular spots in the city. Will definitely come back in a few days to try their falafel too.

I discovered that a Bangladesh street food called fushka is very popular, so decided to try for my first time. Tong is highly rated and their menu is simple. I ordered the Doi Fuchka ($7), which comes as crispy, hollow puri shells stuffed with a savory mashed potato and chickpea mixture. The difference in the doi is that it is topped with a yogurt to balance the spice for a creamier texture. I liked this a lot, especially with the tamarind sauce too (though this got a bit messy). This is nothing like I've ever tasted with so many different textures going on. It hits you with spicy, sweet, savory, crunchy, creamy, chewy and everything all at once. It comes with 8 pieces, which is perfect to share with 2-3 people. Definitely something to check out!

I've heard so many great things about the cheong fun here and how cheap it is. I was recommended to go earlier in the day since they leave early or whenever they're sold out. They offer soy sauce, peanut sauce, and/or chili sauce. Definitely only get the soy sauce for the protein options and peanut sauce + soy sauce for the plain one! Take it from me, my dad ordered all three sauces in all of our bowls and it was too much flavor mixing together in your mouth. Food: Plain Cheong Fun (8.4/10): The silkiest, softest cheong fun I've put in my mouth. You must eat this right away. This is not a take-home option because it will clump up together. This time I found the opportunity and am glad I can say I've been now! Its literally a small cart on the corner of the street intersection. There was a line formed and so we just followed suit. No place to sit to eat, so just be mindful of that - especially since the containers they give you the food in can be super hot! We ordered one fresh shrimp rice roll, and waited about 10 minutes for our food to come out. It is PIPING hot so it was hard to hold and eat, but we managed. The first few bites were delicious and the rice roll was super silky. However I felt like since it was shoved inside the plastic container, the rice roll keeps cooking in its own heat, and thus got overly goopy. Still, I enjoyed the cheap snack on the street, but have definitely had better long-standing rice rolls in NY.
