We got a friendly welcome. She was quite sweet. When we asked, she told us that Goldy was her sister who had passed away. The restaurant was named after her. In addition to the menu on the counter, they have a blackboard with various featured items -- including soups of the day -- and specials. They use Board Head meats which you can see in the case. We both ordered their Italian sub, but I made a few changes to mine leaving out the ham and the capicola. The bread was soft and went well with all the meats, cheeses, and veggies. It was an excellent sandwich. We each ate half (the sandwich was stuffed with stuff) and took half home. We were talking about other options that they have when the owner mentioned various desserts -- including banana pudding. She mentioned that it's quite popular and sells out often, but she just happened to have some ready. This is my husband's favorite dessert. He couldn't resist getting a container of it. He took a few tastes there and devoured the rest at home. This place is definitely worth a return visit. The portion of meat is plentiful and the sweet peppers reallg elevates it. They wrap the vegetables in two layers of meat which I think helps keep the components in place for every bite. A quick call, or even mentioning it at pickup, would have gone a long way. I would have happily substituted for a bagel or chosen something else. Instead, I had to drive all the way back to the restaurant. By that point, I was understandably frustrated, and the response at the counter didn't help--the staff seemed indifferent. They did replace the missing items with bagels, which I appreciate, but the overall experience was disappointing. I used to really enjoy Marian's under the previous ownership and was a regular customer. Unfortunately, since the change in ownership, the quality of service seems to have declined. We decided to give it another try, but this experience confirmed that it's just not worth it anymore. Disappointing, because this used to be a go-to spot.

The order taker was fine with that, but then a manager, which may have been you, said we could only have 3 orders of Baked potatoes. The reason was something about us taking all the baked potatoes you had. [therefore, you would have none for other customers] I thought it should be first come, first served on any item you sell. Then when we got home [Prague, Oklahoma] with the 3 that we were allowed to have, the Spud maxes were only trimmed with scant amounts of additives. I have ordered this item in the past when someone was able to bring me inside to eat and I was happy with my purchase, as the volume of each additive was generous. This entire incident [noon on the 18th] was very embarrassing for me because I was trying to treat a few friends that had purchased meals for me in the past. The meat was cut thin and retained the perfect amount of juice surrounded by the gooey cheese. The red peppers were spicy so buyer beware. This was a top 3 Philly for me. The bathroom had nice white tiled walls and cement industrial weathered flooring. The picture on the wall displayed people on the beach holding Capriotti's sandwiches and drinks. The only issue was the door to the men's bathroom would not lock and the women's bathroom did not have toilet paper, although both very clean.
