This authentic Mexican food belongs in the "as good as it gets" category. Best tacos I've had in Boston. We ordered the two empanadas and the taco combo (3 tacos with rice and beans) with 1 al pastor, 1 carne asada, and 1 carnitas. The empanadas (filled with chicken) were perfectly fried and not greasy. The tacos came on just-cripsy-enough corn tortillas, with juicy (but not greasy) meat. The al pastor especially had an excellent marinade. California native here. I can say that this is the best place for burritos and tacos I've had after desperately trying to find a go-to place while living In NYC and then now in Boston. I had a chicken burrito which was incredible. They take the time to actually grill the tortilla so that it is crispy my husband had fish fajitas which he gave a thumbs up on. Probably the best Mexican food I've had in Massachusetts. Just wow. And for a great price. We stopped in here during a Saturday afternoon. My guess is they do a lot of delivery/ takeaway because parking in the area is tough and, while they have some seating, but its a small space. Nonetheless, I ordered the super burrito (because I wanted to go to fat camp) and my partner ordered tacos al pastor. Everything was fresh and delicious. Both dishes came with rice & beans. I usually don't eat the rice and beans- but I had to try it because the burrito/ tacos were so good. Even the throwaway rice and beans were bomb! Long story short- this place killed it. It's unfortunate to post this, the food is good, but service isn't. I ordered a quesadilla and asked for meat on the side and it came prepared with meat in it. I couldn't care, but my 5yr old does. I called to resolve it and was told not sure when they could replace and then I asked for cresit for the quesadilla and was told they would give me 50%. The entire quesadilla was wrong, not just half. The rest of the order was good, I only wanted credit for the quesadilla. The reason it was incorrect per the person who answers the phone "the women preparing it does not speak English" That's not that women's fault, it's management for not relaying the change in the order. My favorite place to get a fish burrito. It's the best. Especially because it's not fried. Everywhere you want to get a fish burrito or tacos the fish is always fried. Their hot sauce is amazing, super flavorful and perfect amount of heat. I also LOVE that they throw in a handful of tortilla chips in with your burrito. So good! DJ's became a member of my take out rotation almost immediately after my first order. I am amazed at the quality of the food that they pump out of such small location. Their bira tacos are a little different but they a full of a lot of delicious meat. Their pupusas are other worldly, I get the pupusas revueltas almost every time. I loved the shrimp tacos! The shrimp is freshly grilled rather than battered and deep fried, and I really enjoyed that the tacos were simply dressed with lettuce, cheese and pico de gallo rather than being drenched in chipotle mayo and other sauces. I am disappointed upon writing this review because their food is pretty good. Last night was cinco de mayo and I wanted tacos. I figured it might be busy so I was very patient. However, after my food being over an hour late, I got worried and tried to contact the store. The phone was disconnected. I called and called. The phone stayed disconnected. By the time it was 9:55 ( they close at 10) My food was, at this point, still 2 hours and 40 minutes late. I called one more time and someone answered. They said that the power went out and they didn't see my order. I called the next morning about it and a different person said they were really busy. So they lied and made excuses about why I never got my food or even received an update. No "sorry we're running late" no, "we cannot fulfill your order at this time" just radio silence and then excuses. I will not be returning. read more

We moved here from Los Angeles a while ago. This place has become our go-to for tacos. It is not necessarily the most mind-blowing tacos you've ever had in your life, but it is by far (and I mean by FAR) the closest we have found in the area to what we used to get in LA. How did I not know about Don Julio until last Sunday!?! We got the tacos al pastor, the beef tacos, an empanada, and a pupusa. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!!! They make the tortillas by hand, which is so incredible and unnecessary, and which adds such brilliant texture to the tacos. You cannot beat the quality, especially at such reasonable prices. I've tried the veggie enchiladas (loads of quality veggies with spicy enchilada sauce), nachos (giant order with the most delicious cheese blend), pupusas (highly recommend, I order at least one every time), and shrimp and fish tacos (fresh, flavorful seafood). Love this little place. Literally maybe three tables in the place. I've order chicken burrito several times to bring home. Each time you can hear the cook start preparing the burrito and then gently pressing it before it's wrapped. The mix of chicken, beans rice and chunks of avocado is superb! I never write reviews, but this is literally the BEST Mexican restaurant HANDS DOWN. Went here for the first time last year and have been coming back frequently ever since. Now this is the ONLY place I got my Mexican food. Not only are the portions VERY filling, but the pricing is very reasonable as well which is such a win-win. Workers are very respectful and always do their best to accommodate. Even during COVID, service and food has been wonderful.
