The restaurant was packed when we walked in. But, they got us the chips and salsa right away so that helped. The salsa was great. Service started off a little bit slow, but I don't think there were many people serving tables and they were really busy. The food was pretty good, though we would've liked pork options. There were a lot of menu options that were different from other Mexican restaurants we've gone to. A pet peeve of mine is for servers not to ask me if i want dessert, probably because i almost always want one. read more

Don Chuchos - Cheese Dip (6oz) - Mexican Near Me - Columbus, Georgia

We enter the establishment at 1:30 the waiter set us down and asked us for our drinks before even handing us a menu we weren't even seated for one minute before a lady came over and informed us that the kitchen will be closing in 10 minutes so we have got to order right now. I said we haven't even got our menus yet. They gave us a lunch menu and I asked for dinner menu, we then were extremely rushed to the point where my husband just pointed at the Molly chicken dish and said can I at least get this and the lady said I guess if that's what you think then I was extremely rushed for my order mind you we haven't even been seated for five minutes and I was extremely uncomfortable, so I just shouted out the steak fajitas will be fine. They brought food out literally within five minutes and I could tell why it came out so fast because the food was old cold and tasted like it came from a dirty griddle. There was no seasoning no flavor no soul in these meals, the only thing you could taste was burnt on grease off of a griddle and dry meats. The rice with the Molly dish was absolutely awful. The tea we were served was unsweet when my husband asked for sweet tea glasses weren't even filled my pink tea tasted exactly like syrup. It was God awful some of the worst lemonade I've ever had. We had our place in front of us for two minutes and we're discussing the quality of food when the lady came over, rushed us again with the ticket I asked why the rush since we already got our food and she said we were closing it to so I was really confused if they knew they were closing it to why they would let us in the establishment, a little after 130? The ambience and the culture here is extremely awful. The floor is dirty. The decor is outdated, and the staffing is completely horrendous with how they treat new customers or customers in general the gentleman that want to take our order never even asked us anything except for what do you want to eat . We will never be returning to this establishment. The salsa was decent, but you could tell it wasn't fresh in the chips. Those were cold, too and Lacked salt ! Absolutely awful save your money and go to one of the other Hispanic restaurants ! read more

No. Thank you, but this was not a good dining experience for our family. The restaurant did not have Chorizo. ??? Ok. The fajitas came out on a plate...not on the sizzling skillet. They were cold and lacked flavor. All around a disappointment... read more

Burrito Don Chucho is bad to the bone. I only order this whenever I go there. Fast service especially with the covid turning the corner.

Not a bad little Mexican place this side of Columbus. The strip mall it's in isn't much to look at, but inside seemed nice a clean. The food was fresh and delicious. I came here for lunch on a client meeting, and everybody was served quickly and the food was tasty. $59 was the lunch cost for four. read more

Don Chucho's is trash my daughter and I visted there two days ago and I was served the Martha's chimichanga and no lie It was smaller than the palm of my hand in my 35 years alive I've never seen a chimichanga that small the owner came to the table and proceeded to argue with me about it and how she's been in business 23 years and how I made her server upset which barley spoke English when all I said was I didn't want thie dish because I wasn't paying $12.00 for a tiny chimichanga and some lettuce & rice no way!!!! I added beans for a $1 and she made sure to pint that out and the fact she had to throw them away she was upset that she had to take it off my check and throw it away which the food was never touched! I have worked in a restaurant many years myself and unfortunately that just part of business!! She denied serving me anything else she wouldn't even let me look at a menu.. I was starving and wasn't there for free food I wanted my stomach on F not E.. so I paid for my daughter's food and order me a chimichanga from El Carrizo's on Macon rd! Always consistent and the best by far!! Horrible experience at Don Chucho's!! Yes I visited there before and had the fajitas which as I recall they was good but never again will I visit there! The owner is rude and unprofessional as hell! The owner and her workers stared at us the whole time. My daughter was eating her plate thinking we were going to run out the door apparently! They were all worried about that instead of the guest he was still waiting on a paying $25.03 for him to never came back to the table after taking the plate back !! To top it off the margarita was trash also nothing but sour mix I wanted frozen but she is such a cheapskate she doesn't run the frozen machine until night time PATHETIC IF COULD GIVE ZEROS STARS FOR THIS PLACE I WOULD!! read more

It was good. We ordered the dinner portion of Chimichangas and for the price, it was a yowza portion! The sauce is heavily focused on tomato (was looking for a dash of cilantro perhaps?) but it was all good. The service was kind and quick. The decor - was - well, festive. All in all, it was great. read more

Hands down, the best Mexican food in Columbus area.

This palace has the worst mexican food I have ever encountered. I have been told it use to be good. Watered down spaghetti sauce over my burrito, boiled hamburger meat as the filling. Yuk. read more

Service was good. Food is very bland. Where is the flavor? Had high hopes for this restaurant.

I had the Cilantro Pollo and my son had the Steak Asada. Chips were hot and the salsa was spicier than other Mexican restaurants in the area which was good. The Cilantro Pollo was mostly tender and the corn tortillas were hot and fresh. My only beef was the stems of the cilantro we're tough and not enough seasonings on the chicken. The dish would of been much better with the leaves picked and stems discarded. My son enjoyed the steak. If not for the tough stems, seasoning, and having to ask for a menu, I would of rated it above average. read more

I see bad reviews about this place mostly from people from Cali or Texas. I lived in both. Your not going to find any thing close to that outside of there. So... This is my go to Mexican restaurant in Columbus. I have never been disappointed. Service is usually very fast and efficient, and the food good. This place is the only one in town with a different Menu. I would like to see Rice and beans includes in all Entrees. Every other place in town has the same items and the same recipes. the only difference is the name. read more

It's delicious food. Owners are extremely nice. The place is always clean including the restrooms. Wait staff are terrific. Burrito Don Chucho is my favorite. read more

This place has motivated me to sign on to yelp. The one star is completely accurate. I live in Southern CA where there are many delicious/authentic mex places. When I first saw this place I was sceptical because it was so busy. A mex rest in the South being busy with white people in it is not a good sign. It was worse then I could have imagined. Bland, cheap meat and no flavor altogether. It is like Taco Bell with silverware. I'm not kidding. It is cheap for a reason. read more

Authentic Mexican food. Excellent and super friendly service. The fajita nachos are incredible!!

We have lived in Central America and driven to Panama and lived in CA , TX and driven thru all the states. Each area has their specialties in "Mexican" food. We regularly enjoy great food, great service and a clean and popular family owned restaurant. Verrrry few if any restaurants can match the colorful, tasty and varied menu and as a result- others offer limited and often tasteless food. Don Chucho's prepares hot meals made to order and serves them cheerfully, rapidly and in a friendly manner. Great place to eat and see other happy diners! read more

The service is ok. The food is decent, but there's a considerable difference for me in ordering chicken vs. beef (the beef is dry, no flavor -- the chicken is pretty good). For me, their chips & salsa are the best in town and their menu items set them apart just a little from others. I'm a huge fan of the wet burrito w/ chicken and their sweat tea is as good as anyone else's in town so, for a "mexican" restaurant, it's more than tolerable for me. This is also one of the #1 local lunch places near my office so it gets a little more leniency on the review. read more

The wife always gets a cheese and a beef burrito. This time I got the new spicy meal of steak, chicken and shrimp and I will definitely be getting it again - and soon. Saying this dish was delicious would be an understatement.. The chips were crispy and warm and the salsa had just the right amount of heat. Service, as usual, was impeccable. The food is Americanized Mexican but still very good. I have eaten some awesome food prepared in homes in Peadres Negres and Villa Union, Mexico, and yes it was different and delicious, but I can't get that here, so Don Chucho's is always my go-to at home. I miss Roberto who the government won't let come back to the states to work, but the owners are awesomely nice people. read more

Don Chuchos - Mexican Near Me - Columbus, Georgia

We just moved to Columbus from California (where there are excellent authentic Mexican restaurants). The only one we've found so far that meets that is La Mexicana. Of course there are others we have yet to try. Don Chuchos chips were great (thin & warm). Their salsa was no good. Tasted like it came out of a jar. The rice and beans were good. My chili relleno was also good, but for some reason there was an extra stem and portion of poblano attached to it on my plate. I don't want to think where that came from. Also the ground meat that topped the relleno was overly seasoned. Since we live on the opposite side of town, I wouldn't be in a rush to go back. But it you're in the neighborhood give it a try. read more

Don Chuchos - The Cancun Special is dope. Chicken quesadilla with grilled onions and tomatos real good - Mexican Near Me - Columbus, Georgia

We've been coming here for a few years now. I was surprised by some of the bad reviews. My family likes them, the portions are generous for the prices. The service is fast and they seem to stay on top of everything even when they are busy. My wife has had the margaritas and she likes them; they are big also. I like their burritos and their enchiladas, everything is served hot and have never had any issues with the food. We all like the white cheese with the nachos. This is the only Mexican restaurant my wife will eat at. I do not agree with the one review that compared them to Taco Bell. Just my opinion though. read more

We lived in the area for over twelve-years, and we used to go to this place on a regular basis. It was only a mile from our home, and had fairly good food at a reasonable price. We eventually stopped going, and went to other places in the area that we liked better, but still didn't think of this place as 'bad'. Until, we went back for the first time in a couple years. The first time we tried to give it a go, they messed up our order twice. They got the drinks wrong, the food wrong, and when the food finally did come it wasn't anything to write home about. The waiter spoke only a handful of words in English, which I don't mind too much (it IS a Mexican restaurant). However, he obviously didn't understand our order at all. We decided to give it another chance, since we didn't want to drive across town for Mexican food. The wait was ridiculously long, but we didn't care about that. However, the food was raw. Everyone got food poisoning. Our foolish selves said, maybe this was an one-time thing. No. We went back and got food poisoning again. Never again. Never. read more

The chips and salsa are delicious and I always eat way too many. The Wet Burrito with Chicken is my favorite dish and the tea is really good too. The service is great, they've always been very friendly and the food is served quickly. This may not be authentic Mexican food but it is still good and I recommend it. read more

Mexican Food has always been a go to for my friends & I. The drinks; atmosphere & taco salads are a weekly must! Although this restaurant is small it aims to please! Good customer service!!! Of all the mexican restaurants in town ,and there are several this one is far and away my favorite. The service is always fast, friendly and the food is great. The only two drawbacks are on friday and saturday night from 6-8 there is sometimes a wait but its not usually very bad. Also weekdays they are closed from 2-5,as are the majority of mexican restaurants in town. read more

Hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant in Columbus Ga. The staff is always courteous and welcoming. The food is incredibly delicious. The food comes out fast and its tastes different than the traditional El Carrizo or El Vaquero (dry or bland). My favorite dish is the Carlos Special. If anything try their shrimp chimichangas or steak a la mexicana. Please give this place a try. You won't regret it...oh yea you get your money's worth and the prices aren't bad either. Your welcome! read more

As a born and bred southern California girl, this restaurant did not meet my expectations. Chips were thin and warm and beans and rice were fine, but everything else was sub par. Salsa seemed to be from a jar, cheese tasted like shredded Velveeta, my husband's fried Chile relleno was overly oily and my steak burrito (which comes covered with nacho cheese sauce but I ordered without) was literally filled with only steak. read more

Pretty good food but the margarita needed more alcohol.

Excellent, beyond expectations. Their sauces are well done, the spicy one especially above other restaurants. Chips like they were fresh out of the oven. The food I ordered was very excelelnt and the service was perfection as well. The price was good. read more

The food is good and service is good, but management or manager in question during my visit was inconsiderate of customers needs. The managers attitude was poor and not customer friendly.
