Best Mexican food in the south!!! Great customer service and laid back atmosphere. Love this place

The medium margarita on the rocks was exactly what you'd expect from a standard house margarita. It was balanced enough, but ultimately forgettable--pleasant, yet lacking anything distinctive or memorable. The combo appetizer was largely disappointing and difficult to justify for the price. The chicken quesadilla was bland and desperately needed seasoning. The fritters were even more underwhelming, tasting primarily of fryer oil with no texture, depth, or discernible flavor. The lone bright spot was the chorizo-stuffed jalapeños, which were flavorful, well-prepared, and easily the best item on the appetizer platter. The accompanying chipotle ranch was also excellent and complemented them nicely. The salsa, however, completely stole the show. It's still my favorite salsa anywhere in the Columbus area by a wide margin. The complimentary chips arrived warm and fresh, an often-overlooked detail that made an immediate positive impression. The guacamole had a smooth, fresh texture but was noticeably under-seasoned and needed more salt. The portion size was also disappointingly small considering the price. The combination plate featuring the chile poblano and steak chimichanga was the evening's biggest letdown. The refried beans tasted as though they had been scooped straight from a can, while the rice was one of the few successes of the meal--well-seasoned, perfectly cooked, and fluffy. The chile poblano was shockingly small, easily the smallest I've ever been served, and lacked any real character. The ground beef filling was bland, resulting in little more than a soft, flavorless mound. The steak chimichanga was equally disappointing in both size and execution. It was so small it looked more appropriate for a children's menu. While the steak itself was tender, it lacked seasoning and was excessively greasy. I found myself repeatedly pouring salsa over nearly every bite just to introduce some flavor to the plate. The Plato Loco continued the trend of undersized portions. Once again, the rice was cooked beautifully, and the meat itself was tender, but the overall dish was remarkably bland. Nearly all of the flavor came from the cheese sauce rather than the ingredients themselves. On a positive note, the extra tortillas arrived piping hot, fresh, and delicious. Unfortunately, the service mirrored the kitchen's inconsistency. Our server was largely absent throughout the meal. Drinks sat empty multiple times, our basket of chips often remained without salsa, and we repeatedly had to flag him down for refills and basic table service. This restaurant was once my favorite Mexican restaurant in Columbus, which makes this visit especially disappointing. Whether the focus has shifted to the newer Phoenix City location or something else has changed behind the scenes, the difference is impossible to ignore. The generous portions that once set this restaurant apart have shrunk dramatically, and the bold flavors that kept us coming back have largely disappeared. Aside from the outstanding salsa and a few isolated highlights, this meal felt uninspired and poorly executed. It was a disappointing experience that leaves me questioning whether I'll be returning anytime soon. read more

The place has great salsa and the food was good. The waiter was friendly but a bit skippy/spacey. In the receipt says to separate the Plato loco in 3 portions and it wasn't. Waiter should have made sure it was. He didn't. Good place to come get dinner overall. The place is decorated with the Mexican style but is not fancy. Plenty of parking. read more

We stopped in for a late lunch on Friday after my sons OCS graduation, and noticed others did too. We enjoyed a round of spicy margs on the rocks with my requested tajin rims. Drinks were good, food hit the spot. I had a beef taco, chicken enchilada combo plate. My son had a quesadilla of some sort. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. This is probably the closest Mexican restaurant to the base and since we haven't been able to enjoy our fav hometown place in a bit, it was nice to dine here. Great service! read more

We stopped in after my son OSUT Graduation. Food and service was great. Would eat here again if in the area.

Ordered al Pastor taco and veggie fajitas. The taco was delicious, however, the fajitas came out and were microwaved steamed veggies. They didn't resemble fajita veggies at all. I ended up ordering additional al Pastor tacos and sending back the "fajita" entree. I'm not sure what happened with the veggies but after asking they did say what was brought out was their fajita veggies. I would go back but will not order the fajitas. read more

Fantastic food, great environment & attentive service. Definitely give it a try when you are in town.

Food was excellent, service was good, and the margarita was tasty! I had the carnitas which were crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned on the inside. Also, the salsa was very good--full of cilantro and very fresh. read more

My boyfriend and I were looking for a local Mexican restaurant to get our grub on while watching college football and we discovered our new favorite date night spot. This place is so yummy. Our go to is the quesadillas, they are always loaded up with protein and cheese. On Wednesdays they have $5 margaritas and $2 house shots. It seems to be family owned and they were so sweet and accommodating. Definitely our weekly spot for now on! read more

I've been coming here since I was younger! It's definitely the family place to come!! Your greeted when you come in they offer military discounts and the food is so good!! My go to is the POLLO LOCO! The best QUESADILLAS I've ever had in my life!! 10/10 for sure!!! Definitely a place to stop in Columbus.

This restaurant may have the greatest Quesadilla in the United States, maybe the world and I've had them all. Order the mix quesadilla (steak, chicken, shrimp) and you won't go wrong. I wanted to keep this to myself, but I can't be selfish. Excellent service as well, thank me later read more

Great spot to grab lunch, been around forever. Quality of food is great, quality of mix drinks has been inconsistent (visit to visit). Prices are reasonable, people are very nice. Overall I would recommend! read more

The first two times I tried it I was not a fan at all but I tried em a few more times and while I wouldn't order the quesadillas a lot of the other options have been really good, we really like the Columbus burrito, street tacos, chips and salsa, and the molcajete. I personally had never had to wait for seating as they seem to have a good amount of space and I have had pleasant interactions with staff on every occasion. read more

Order tortilla soup and it's no where near authentic. There wasn't any use of guajillo sauce nor sliced tortillas or black beans. Instead they used the chips you get to dip salsa. Basically it broth with tomatoes, slice onions, a few pieces of avocado, rice and chunks of chicken or beef. I also ordered a beef burrito and got chicken instead. The food taste alright just wasn't what I order nor expected. For a soup and a burrito with no sides and 2 drinks came out to $32.98. Should have been at least under $25 for everything. read more

The food is great! Prompt service and food delivery! Their salsa is amazing and the prices are fair and affordable!

Great people, food, and service always. The recent sprucing up has made it even more great to go to for lunch and dinner.

Not bad at all. If your looking for a Mexican Restaurant with actual Mexican food come prepared to Taco Bell then this is the place to go in Columbus, Georgia read more

I swear by this restaurant. I've brought all my friends here and they say the same thing. The large margaritas are the size of my skull.

This was my first visit and it was wonderful. The food was good and the staff was great. I had enchiladas, one cheese and one beef, they were delicious. The brown says was delicious. I would definitely get them again. We had guacamole with our chips and it was amazing. You can't get any fresher. If you are in Columbus you need to go. read more

This place was a pleasant surprise. Very tasty and friendly atmosphere. The salsa that comes with chips is made fresh.

The place is really, really ridiculously cheap and seems to have a lot of liquor stocked up. The beer selection they have is very authentic, one of my co-diners ordered a beer that seemed very, very exported from Mexico. The horchata was pretty good, not too sweet and came in a HUGE glass. The food, was okay I had the carne asada which was surprisingly tough. The weird thing was that it was sliced very thinly and yet took so long to cut through-the knife they gave me had no screws in the grip which made it a difficult to say the least. I'm willing to give it another shot since it was so cheap and the torta looked delicious. read more

This restaurant is a great little treasure that we found after my son's graduation from Fort Benning basic training. He wanted to take us out to eat after the ceremony and he wanted Mexican. My mom remembered passing this place on the way to the National Infantry Museum, so we thought we check it out. Turns out, this is quite the popular place with the military and civilians in Columbus. LOL I had the chicken chimichangas - all white meat, tender and juicy. My mother had a quesadilla with chicken, steak & shrimp - tons of meat, cooked to perfection (she said it was so delicious she was tempted to lick the plate). The beans and rice were fresh and tasty and the guacamole was as good as homemade (not a puree, but fresh and chunky). Daughters had the enchiladas - no complaints, they were very happy, and my son had a California burrito which was huge. He said he was completely satisfied and that's good enough for me. My daughters were unable to finish their dinners, but the waiter had no problem boxing up the leftovers and packed them nicely in a bag with forks (!) so we could eat them on the way home. If we are ever in Columbus GA again, we are absolutely coming back. Definitely will recommend this place to others in the area! read more

very bad service they try to steak your money and get over on people paid for my food and they wouldn't let my dasher take it or give me a refund read more

I love the food and love that it's family owned. The husband and wife are always working and they tend to remember their regulars faces. They are always welcoming and friendly. I definitely recommend this place. read more

Just moved down here and my wife been needing her Mexican fix. Stumbled across this place and she finally got her fix. The food and service was good, no complaints. Did not have liquor license due to the new year, so I couldn't get a beer or two. But, the manager said "we are waiting for em, and should be here end of January 2019." read more

The food was tasty and the waitress was very nice. We had fajitas, mixed quesadilla and a childs meal.

After a long hike at Providence Canyon, we were starving and stopped for dinner. The staff was friendly and we got seated right away. The chips and salsa were brought quickly and they were delicious! The food was good too. I'm giving a four star because the soft drinks were flat and the salsa was super hot! Other that, I recommend this place! read more

Most authentic Mexican food in town. Excellent staff. Salsa is great. Love this restaurant!

This was always a favorite after SOA protests. I've spent many a Sunday late afternoon/evening here thinking about what I had just witnessed, talking to friends I hadn't seen in a while, and enjoying pretty decent Mexican food. It's a Mexican restaurant with a taqueria feel. The portions are decent; the prices are excellent, and the service is good. read more
