This place is kinda like subway, with some things better than subway and some things worse. I'd say there is less selection than subway, but if you're not into all the veggie options, this is a cool place to check out. Especially if you like sandwiches. So you start off by selecting the protein/type of sandwich you want. I got the green goddess one because it was the special of the day and less than $5 USD. I love a good veggie sandwich and this one wasn't bad. It came with avocado and cream cheese and your choice of vegetables like lettuce, tomato, cucumber, banana peppers, sprouts, onions and pickles. They have some sauces too. All on top either white, wheat or rye. I kinda wish they'd let you add other cheeses to this sandwich because in hindsight idk if it was really a deal compared to the other specials of the day. And while the cream cheese is nice for its soft and creamy texture, I was thinking some sharp cheddar really would have added something great to my sandwich. But alas, I'm a cheapskate and won't pay extra for cheese. My sandwich was nicely pressed and packaged in a paper bag. I like that they offer interesting soups, salads and smoothies. I was pretty tempted to get a smoothie too, but I ended up getting a drink elsewhere. The girls behind the counter did well. They were nice and efficient. They were patient and spoke patiently with all of us.

I finally made my way to this tiny, unassuming bakery, beside a 7-11, and was mesmerized by all the baked goods behind the counter and on the shelves. I was tempted to buy one of everything as you can just tell the goodies are freshly made and will be delicious! I went ahead and ordered the "Nonna's Special," which includes prosciutto crudo, calabrese salami, fresh mozzarella, tomato, pickled red onion, fig jam, arugula, EVOO, and balsamic vinegar. When the nice lady handed me my sandwich I was surprised at how huge it was and loved the fact it came warmed. (I love a hot sandwich!). When I got in the car and looked inside the sandwich bag, I saw the most glorious Italian-style sandwich I've ever seen. This seriously rivaled some of the greats I've had in my travels. And of course, as soon as I took a bite, it was over. Whatever plans I had went on hold as I savoured every bite of that delicious, monster sandwich (which I had to eat out of my car, as it's a dripper! But worth every drop!) The bun was super soft and not too thick, the meat was stacked and well spiced, the mozzarella, veggies, and condiments were perfectly matched for a very well-balanced and flavour-packed sandwich. I enjoyed it so much, I went back the next day and had it again! As much as I thought about gate keeping this little gem, I want them to succeed and give this place the kudos they deserve. When ordering Crystal was super friendly introducing her husband and herself and nice and was able to let me know her favorites which we ordered. While waiting for our food she continued this sunshine spirit, walking to tables and checking in and conversing with customers. It was a great sight to see. The food was amazing!! I had the spicy pork bahn mi and my partner had the crispy spicy veggie burger. The pork in the bahn mi was delicious!!! We also really liked the veggie burger as well - a very great homemade patty! We are from out of town and gutted that we won't be able to try their soup before we leave! The next time we are in Kelowna, we are definitely coming again. Thank you Crystal and Staff!

This summer I had an experience with Little Hobo and the amazing Crystal. I had gone to the…read morerestaurant to get some take away soup, and explained to the counter lady my husband couldn't eat large chunks in soup due to his cancer treatment. She offered to blend it, which was a great solution. I waited, and then when the soup came, she simply said, "It's been taken care of." For anyone who has ever been through cancer or cared for someone who is going through it or a serious illness, you know that feeling of utterly loneliness and overwhelm. Like nobody understands what you are going through, and you just have to keep yourself under control or you will lose it. Well, this act of kindness did me in. I broke down in tears, Crystal, the counter lady -- the human form of kindness and love -- took me outside. She told me that cancer sucks, but it would get better. Well, Crystal, it has gotten better. The soup was amazing, but more importantly that small act of kindness gave me the strength to keep going that day. I will never forget that gesture. I didn't get the chance to go back, which I will always regret. Keep doing what you are doing folks. You do more than make awesome food. Your soup and sandwiches nourish souls as well as bodies.
