It was a good solid sandwich but after the other two, it seemed less extravagant. What I love the most is that they have the sweet peppers that subway got rid of. There was only two people in this very cute restaurant. Lots of table and chairs inside and outside for seating. I was a bit overwhelmed trying to take everything in. They have a counter top where you can see them cutting actual chicken and potatoes for the fries and placing them into what appears to be high pressure deep fryers. This place has been set up to make you the best pieces of chicken you can get. I ordered The Beaut (minus the mayo) a large chicken breast covered in a crispy batter and perfectly deep fried! There was a good amount of pickles with the sandwich, like 4 or 5 which really covered the entire sandwich so you always got a bit of them. The bun was not my favorite. I'm not sure how to describe it. A little smushed is the best way I guess. I also ordered a 6 piece bites package. These things were full on huge chunks of chicken they seasoned and deep fried. I don't normally like to take pictures of food partially eaten but I had to show what one of the bites looked like after taking a bite. They were large, hot and cooked to perfection. I did try some of their BBQ sauce. Not a big fan but it wasn't bad. I also got an order of the skin on hand cut fries! OMG they were so good! They gave me a large bag of hot fries that just totally completed this meal! And I'm talking they should have come with a warning they were so hot! Loved it! As I was waiting for my order to be bagged I notice the large cookies and the glazed hand pies they had on the counter. This isn't like other major food chains so the price is a little higher but you are getting quality food. OK, I'll just say we had "da** fine" meals. Fresh, seasonal ingredients combined in some unique and surprising ways, beautifully prepared and so, so delicious. Just look at the photos of a selection of our dishes. This was well worth an update of my earlier review. First, Speckled Pear has removed the community seating and the prepared food, bakery and produce counters from my earlier visits and replaced them with true "restaurant" tables. The focus is now squarely on dining, with lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch service. And oh, there's still a wine bar and bottles are still available for purchase. In my humble view a significant positive step. Our servers were excellent, including helpfully explaining some of the wine options (my wife and sister-in-law ordered a flight). Still a fairly casual environment. Great acoustics- I hate echo chambers. We sat close to other guests but were able to easily talk among ourselves without hearing any extraneous neighbor conversations. Dare I say, Speckled Pear is now a {insert tire company name} star-quality dining experience. In Fort Mill! PS - It's a small restaurant which filled quickly and early on the weekday we visited.
