It was very busy the night I stopped in, but I was able to get a seat at the bar and the bartender was quick and attentive. I had a couple beers and she put my order in. When paying the bill, the server asked if we wanted a box, I told her the pizza was very greasy and not good at all,she said she could see that and said she hopes the next time it'll be better. Having heard multiple positive comments about Empire Pizza we decided to try it ourselves. Late afternoon today I called and placed our first order. When I entered the restaurant the cashier found my order was ready to go but could not find it in his order computer/ cash register. Another employee figured out how to accept my money. I paid. I left. I drove home. We were sorely disappointed in the quality of our food. The pizza lacked flavor, had to little sauce and had way too much thick, tough bread masquerading as pizza crust. Of our expensive "Sicilian" pizza we ate two squares and tossed the rest. Of the dozen wings ordered the garlic-parmesan and teriyaki sauces were tasty. The wings were tough, over-cooked and dried out. Six of the dozen were not eaten. Ordered the fried pickles which are my favorite and theirs were the best I've had! Got the Meatballs and marinara and omg!!! So yummy!!! Our entire table was delighted with the quality of the food! My wife busted me sneaking back to the fridge after midnight to steal the last tender. The only reason for less than 5 stars is the grease. The pizza.. half cheese half pepperoni with sausage. The crust was soggy. It was mega greasy. We think the cook put way too much stuff on it and it ruined what could've been a very good crust. The toppings are low quality. The pepperoni was too salty. And the sausage was too hard and salty. Again, poor quality ingredients. She never checked on us, never asked if we needed or wanted anything else but was prompt bringing our over 200 dollar bill. My husband and I eat at Empire Pizza (Newport) a couple of times a month. We love the Two Brothers pizza and the chicken tenders. Their salads are also very good. The atmosphere in the bar area is always fun and festive especially during the NFL playoffs. Fun place to go eat. read more
