    Whitefish taco, poblano rice, mexicorn.
    Dawn R.

I'm giving this place 3 stars for the food because the food was average. The service was excellent though. They have wifi and I sat outside with my dog. I got the whitefish taco ($6). It was a very thin piece of perfectly fried fish on 2 paper thin corn tortillas and topped with a siracha-like sauce. I ordered the Poblano rice ($6) and Mexicorn ($7) to go with it for lunch. The tiny bowls made it difficult to eat without dumping some on the tray below. The price for these was excessive IMO. Flavor was OK. At least they had a decent women's restroom. There seemed to be a decent crowd for lunch. This was the first time I have ever eaten in downtown Rock Hill. The buildings are pretty.

A great time with amazing empanadas and birra tacos. The salsa roja was amazing and service was excellent. I'd drive the 1.5 hours just to eat here again.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch today. Owner/Host Jason and our sweet bartender/waitress (that I unfortunately forgot her name) were awesome. Outstanding customer service! My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Whitefish taco and RRCC Barbacoa taco. I had the Sound Guy Sammie. Wow! It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The fresh baked bolillo roll was delicious. And the Coca-cola braised beef, tequila pickled onions, applewood smoked bacon, crispy cheese, guacamole, Duke's mayo, and iceberg...insert chef kiss here. And it was so big, I get to eat the second half for supper. Winner-winner. Highly recommend Rock Taco. And if you can't make it to their location, you can always have your order delivered by DoorDash. We will be back.

We checked out this spanking, new restaurant in Downtown Rock Hill for lunch... The place had an impressive, lofty space with high ceilings (2 floors?), with a striking decor, a mix of "Day of the Dead" skull and rock star-rock music motif...complete with an eclectic mix of rock music. The booth seatings were very comfy as well. The ambiance was great...but, I didn't like that the place had more of this sports bar vibe, with its numerous TV screens, featuring sports. I also thought these TV screens (think 9 total??) somewhat ruined the awesome Mexi-Rock decor. Still, if you're a sports fan (which I'm not!), you'll probably love it. I guess ultimately, it had this super-busy Mexi-Rock-Sports decor. In my book, kind of a shame. If it didn't have so many sports TV's, I probably would have loved it...but I just ended up kind of liking it. Now, the menu! Very interesting...in that it had this mix of Mexican (tacos, nachos, etc.etc.) favorites, as well as a few fancy Mexi specialties, as well as some Southern American specialties, like Fried Chicken and Fish 'n Grits. Think they even had Po-Boy? So basically, they had this Mexi-American fusion menu. One weird thing. They didn't automatically bring you salsa...you had to ask for it. Not sure if there was a charge for it? Luckily, the Manager (?) was nice enough stop by the table, and that's when we asked for this Salsa...halfway through our meal. This lack of Nachos and Salsa right off the bat told me right away that this was fusion...not full-on Mexican. If you prefer authentic Mexican, you may not like this. However, I didn't mind it at all...if anything, welcomed this fun fusion mix! They had an interesting variety of tacos, so I went that route. I chose this "Rock & Rolla Coca - Cola Barbacoa" taco, and also this "Big - Shrimpin' Al Pastor" taco...and both were really good. I preferred the "Rock & Rolla" taco...with a substantial amount of braised beef, surprisingly so! I also Poblano Rice, which was good as well. Plus, we shared this delicious Main St. Corn Dip (think that's what it was?)...added this to the tacos instead of nachos (SO good)! The presentation of the foods were good, but placed in these casual tin trays (the same ones used at places like Seoul Meat Co). I always thought that kind of cheapened the look of the foods...but that's just me. Still, the foods were solid. Service by the waiter was good too...fast and friendly! Overall, we really enjoyed our lunch here...and thought the place was a great, new addition to Rock Hill. I even thought these were the best tacos I've had in Rock Hill...and looking forward to trying more items from their fun menu. I know it's just a personal, subjective thing...but I'm not a fan of such masculine sports bar vibe, so that's where it lost a star for me.

Oh tacos how much I love thee! On my never ending quest for interesting and fun places to try I cruised by this place several times during my drive from site to site. So today I drive by at lunchtime and went in unbiased as I always do and heavily scrutinizing anything with the "Taco" name. I was lucky enough to hit this place before the 12pm lunch rush and was able to really take it in. I was greeted promptly by Clay the bartender, which automatically made me sit there because he made me feel welcome. The atmosphere was awesome. Lots of día de los muertos masks, lots and lots of colors and a massive portrait of Jim Morrison. The menu made it very easy to make decisions on my tacos. I had the Rock & Rola Cola Carnitas that's sauce was Insanely good and the meat was well seasoned and the "PBC" pork belly tacos on corn tortillas the tequila pickled red onions were perfect to balance with the pork belly! Definitely can taste the freshness of ingredients here! Overall this place is a gem! I will 100% be back for dinner next time!

    The tacos are so good

I love the flavors and it's so juicy you got to try this place yes just yes yes yes yes and if anyone says any bad things about this place it's a lie this is so good

They have unique plates. We've had various tacos. The dirty bird is one of our favorites and I love their salad. We normally dine during happy hour. Their margaritas are tasty! We've always had great service.

I ate at ROCK TACO in Rock Hill with friends for dinner. Great atmosphere, friendly and "on point" customer service. Quality and presentation of the food is tasty and freshly made. Their side Rice and Queso was very good. Our lovely n beautiful waitress named, Katie was very kind, courteous, friendly, and recommended us good choices off the menu, and very at tentative to our needs and requests. The staff even offered us a free sample shot of Tequila which complimented my tacos that i ordered: Taco (1): Hard Rockin White Fish Taco (2): Big Shrimpin Al Pastor Taco (3): Luna Tuna Tacofish Side of lightly seasoned rice. Appetizers: Yo Queso. One thing i do need to try is there delicious Shrimp N Grits on my next visit: rock taco.com and be sure to Follow them on Facebook and Instagram . They also cater to live bands that they some times feature on Friday nights. *Musician Matt Walsh will be appearing there around 7pm for his 1 year anniversary, very cool . In all, I felt nothing but good vibes; has a nice tex-mex-California feel, and the bar area is very cozy and inviting, with lots of TVs and Artistic art posters, neon lights, and celebrity paintings, and sketches of familiar musicians, very nice, and ideal for family, great spot for first dates, and/ or to just bring your best buddies/gals and just have a great time. Very clean, and Social, thank you for the pleasant experience ROCK TACO. I give you 7.5 s out of 10. For Rock Hill area, it's very good street style tacos, you wont be disappointed .

Went for the hubby's bday dinner. Absolutely love the vibe they are giving. Greeted as soon as we walked through the door. Sat in a booth as soon as we told them the party number. Severe was at our table not even a minute later to introduce herself and take our drink orders. Service was great. From the person who welcomed us in, our server who was quick, attentive and friendly to the food runners and the rest of the staff. I've heard and read some very mixed reviews about Rock Taco but I am here to tell you, they were having an amazing day because the food was on point. Everything we ordered was flavorful. Nothing was over powering and nothing was lacking. Honestly, one of the best queso dips I have ever had. Salsa was good but even better when I mixed it with the queso. Hubby had the pork belly carnitas and Funky Fresh Fish N' Grits. He loved every bite. Of course, I had to get a bite. Grits are made to perfection. Not thick and lumpy, not runny and watery. Perfect. Baby girl had the Dirty Bird and the chicken was cooked just right and the flavor was explosive. Main St. Corn Dip-I added some hot cause and so good. No ingredient over powered the other. Yall don't sleep on this local gem.

Most of the food was very good and service was very attentive. Our group of friends was here a year ago and were't that satisfied, this time the experience was noticeably better. Queso, corn dip, salsa and chips were all great. The jam session ensalata and dirty bird were delicious. The only critique from the crowd was that the pork belly taco wasn't what folks were expecting as it was shredded and a little dry to them.

Another nice looking restaurant with sub par Mexican food. Came into the place and was greeted and seated right away, the server came over and when asked what he would recommend, he proceeded to name just about everything on the menu. We ordered drinks, a strawberry margarita and a Paloma, both drinks pretty good but the margarita was very very sweet. Next came the appetizer, we ordered the empeñada, which tasted ok but outside was a little dry and not crunchy and the inside was taken over by cheese. Next the entre, I ordered the pork belly nachos and my wife ordered 2 of the tacos, chorizo and carnitas. First the tacos, both were stuffed to the max which is normally a good thing, however they left so much to be desired, they were boring and lacking any Mexican flavor. The nachos were on the other end of the flavor pool, there was not one distinct flavor because there were so many. In a dish that should let the pork do the heavy lifting, you are bombarded by a flavored sour cream and a flavored onion along with a house cheese that solidified in the middle making it impossible to eat. It's like they used tangy flavors in place of spice and it does not work. The best tasting item at this taco place was the fried chicken my son had, no joke it was very good. Can't say we will be back here but I never want to go out after one visit.

Rock Taco has recently opened in the historic downtown Rock Hill district. We arrived on a Friday afternoon to find the restaurant already quickly filling with customers. From the owner of Burgers and Barley it's evident this restaurant will be a terrific addition to the local food scene. Having lived for several years near Houston, TX I've been admittedly reluctant to write reviews of Charlotte-area Tex-Mex fare.* That stated, Rock Tacos does a very good job of serving "street" dishes with delicious Margaritas. The restaurant itself is an eye-catcher, lots of vibrant colors. There's ample dine-in seating, but we chose to order take-out from the bar and have a drink with some chips while we waited. Even though the restaurant was hopping, our service was helpful and attentive. There were many positives regarding our meal. First, the margaritas were strong and flavorful. The drink menu offers numerous varieties. I'd recommend visiting here just to try a couple. In addition we ordered chips with salsa and guacamole and both were restaurant-made and delicious. Our take-out order was ready quickly, we ordered a broad sampling of their street tacos and sides. I highly recommend the pork belly and chicken tacos with flour tortillas. However, I do have some polite suggestions for improvements. My wife ordered her tacos with corn tortillas which quickly fell apart when she picked them up. I'm used to corn tortillas being "doubled-up" to prevent this from happening. Also, the small straight-edged bowls for the salsa and guacamole made it somewhat difficult for scooping with chips. I suggest using bowls with rounded-edges to make for easier chip access. Finally, our tacos were delivered to us in large plastic containers. That's fine, but it made for a bulky carry-out to our car. Why not simply wrap the tacos in foil and/or paper and put them in a lunch bag? (Not only more convenient to handle but less costly.) We had a great experience at a restaurant that's only been open for a week. Thank you very much. We look forward to returning! *I find it challenging rating particular cuisines when I've lived in the region where they are featured. Case in point, at least half of the restaurants in the Houston area are Tex-Mex or Mexican. Regardless of their price-range or specialty there are certain services provided as a routine there that are very difficult to find elsewhere (at least, outside of the Southwest US or Mexico). I find myself craving fresh, restaurant-made tortillas, salsa (served free) with fresh chips, grilled marinated fajitas served on sizzling platters, and delicious mole sauces. I'm trying hard to be fair to Tex-Mex restaurants in Charlotte because such services and meals can be very difficult and expensive to replicate here. Overall, Charlotte is a great area to live and we're enjoying it very much here!

On the menu for today I chose the Blue plate Special ($23) OG, bacon wrapped meatloaf, swirl potatoes, veggie du jour, stewed, collards, steakhouse, vinaigrette, cilantro Crema. The dish was Tender medallions of meatloaf, wrapped in savory bacon. Topped with a steakhouse vinaigrette, tangy, and savory, which had an amazing flavor by itself, I just wish it added more to the main. Which was slightly bland. Unfortunately, this cilantro Crema had no hints of cilantro. The actual star of the show is the collard greens. The Collard greens has a subtle kick, which is amazing and flavorful, and gives that little extra punch. Hand slammed fries ($5) Parmesan - rosemary dusted, roasted tomato malt vinaigrette. Tasty especially with their house made ketchup, but unfortunately, the fries were a little on the soggy side. And a Blake's cider (5). crisp and refreshing. Perfect for a southern Carolina afternoon.
